I am a third generation Spanish/ Portuguese Negrense. Being born and raised In Bacolod city I can truly say that this island is very rich in history. My grandparents were all born in 1890's and theyre all Iberians. We are the Campos's of Pontevedra which in ancient times called Marayo. Thanks for sharing this part of Negrense history. Muchas gracias! Muito obrigado!

Hanep talaga. These plantation owners own that house. That’s the house they grew up in and they let it fall into disrepair. I’m sure they have the funds for it but they want us to foot the bill for its restoration. Nice.

Ms. Anna Balcells is an admirable woman. She dedicates her life to helping others, especially children. Ms. Rosello is a very beautiful, attractive lady and comforts herself with grace. Yes, I think the government should help restore, maintain and make the place available to the public for the sake of history.

Wow! Irrefutably, a grand masterpiece of a colonial house with such a sublime architecture! And yes, I have to agree that our government should also consider stepping in to help restore infrastructures such as this, not only because it's a well-known house, or a landmark, but it's also because of its historical value that has great significance to the face of our country's cultural heritage. I think GALAH is doing a great job here and I hope many people -- be it from the government or private sector, would come to support causes like this. Probably, Architect Jose "Jerry" Acuzar (Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar) could also help (with the consultancy) to bring back the Casa Grande to its former glory.
PS: I am really glad I came across this content and was thrilled to see you -- Nena Rossellos! I didn't know you're one of the great granddaughters of Gen. Aniceto Lacson, til I saw this. I hope all's well there in Negros. (Greetings from Subic Bay in Olongapo City where you once visited.)

Its a pity that a lot of our cultural heritage were neglected...restoration with the help of our government is one way or the other is the key to bring back the old glory of our ancestral houses to show case this generation and the future generation the value, the importance and the richness of our heritage and culture, and the european influence brought about during the 15th up to the late 18th ce.ntury.

Promote it to facebook, u tube etc. Open it to the public as a park and collect entrance fee. In short, make it a tourist spot. Itipon ang kuwarta little by little, then from here the family can renovate it by yourselves. Return the antique furnitures, open a restaurant, coffee shop, etc. Copy what the Ruins’ owner did to restore their ancestral house. This way you can still preserve your own ancestral house. Go! You can do it! The house per se has a grander character than the Ruins.

Historical pa po yang bahay nyo kilangan talaga e preserve. Mahirap lng kami maliit lang bahay namin nahirapan pa nga ako mgpa renovate. Wala ding nka Tira. Just for the legacy sake of my parents too. Hope the government hears you. Good luck po. Yang mansion sa Iloilo Ledesma mansion din po ata I hope e restore din nila. There are several Ive seen gone and beyond repair and restoration. Our past governments did not really put too much attention to matters that they think will not add up to their administrations priority projects. Patriotism is definitely an understatement and every time ancestry is at stake, we cant really care for lack of interest and maybe funding ( importance).

Do not expect the national government to spend for the restoration if the title to the real property is in private hands. Donate the real property to the government if you wish taxpayer's money to be spent for its restoration. The Deed of Donation can specify that the property cannot be used for private commerce except to the extent necessary to have it self-sustaining. That it cannot be converted for another use and the government cannot sell it, otherwise it reverts to to the donor.
