This teaches viewers (not just kids, some adults need to learn this too) that other people have emotions and a person should not provoke another and expect the other to react pleasantly. It teaches empathy.

The pig is portrayed as greedy - that is preoccupied with food/eating even to the point of not caring about his friend's feelings. Note how he continues merrily chomping on the ice cream even as the goat is upset.
The goat speaks truth to power. Remember so many of these fondly, and was, in fact, largely "raised" by Sesame Street sketches and proverbs. Could've been a lot worse~
