When a fellow mechanic was rebuilding a CAT engine and had the block done, I got another piston ring from another kit and acted like I found it on his workbench. The look on his face was worth a million! Almost got my arse kicked for that one!😂😂😂
Ma'am you are an inspiration to young ladies everywhere. I have been a mechanic professionally for almost 13 years, this job we do everyday keeps the world turning. I mean it when I say I'm proud to call you a fellow mechanic. May you find your 10mm and the Karen's stay out your shop.
Yes I have been in that situation. I have been working on cars and trucks since I was 8 years old. My grandfather taught me how to be a good mechanic and to have patience.
The bolts I hate are the ones where the part was obviously designed by someone with SMALL hands and double-jointed wrists. You know the ones where you have to go around one thing and under another to put a 5/8" bolt in a 3/8" wide spot. 🤣
The true sign of a great mechanic is ....he can tell you where all those unnecessary spare parts belong ....after your assembly is finished and running !
Always love finding extra parts the engine rebuilder sent when you're about finishing up ! ! Yet Melissa you always seem to take everything in good humor. Just as I do or would do. No reason why to let someone shit in my Cheerios ❤
@ENCAGED79 BPOC trans have a single top bolt, but Chevy trans have a valley at top, so 2 top bolts. PS (Buick, Pontiac, Olds, Cadillac) Chevy trans became the corporate trans after the 70s
I spent all day replacing a jack shaft. Went to install last bolt and discovered the shaft had not been tapped for bolt. Taught me a good lesson. Double check before you install parts.
Useful tip for working on classic minis/mokes - leave the bottom most clutch bell housing bolt out (forever) makes changing the clutch without removing the engine and transmission from the car possible.
I've worked on old machinery all my life and there are more frustrations than you could possibly believe, but I would rather work on frustrating machinery than have to deal with a whole lot of frustrating people any time!
That’s the world we live in blame it on Biden for dropping the ball on the electric cars didn’t and shutting down pipe lines and drilling platforms that’s why that gas car is doing that!❤
I've always had spare parts after jobs 🤣😂 we changed an engine and had an ice cream tub full and I couldn't find my screwdriver for years then found it holding an engine mount instead of the bolt. When you are excited and can't wait to get it going you forget about little things like that 😂🤣👍💚💛❤️
I’m doing ford brakes right now and for some reason you’ve given me the confidence to take a test drive with a block of wood in one of the calipers hanging from paracord while I try to rock off the other wheel. Don’t worry, I have back brakes and there isn’t much snow left until tomorrow.
Extra bolts when yer dun just means you did it better than the factory. Also strategically missing bolts makes it easier for the feller and remember cross threading is better than loc-tite I suggest both methods be used in tandem can’t go wrong it’s not a fire unless it’s making noise.
I'm experiencing this exact thing a bunch of times restoring and rebuilding my XR350R. But I HAD to get it back in because there's not much to a dirtbike as it is lol
Dude I’m rebuilding a 1996 ford bronco. My life has been on hold for 2 months now. Today I finally put the front wheels back on her and I can say I have changed or rebuilt every inch of her with my own hands. Now it’s time for paint.
I'm that 32yr certified master mechanic that puts those bolts back. Not out of spite, but rather the need to excell. It's more than a drive. I refuse to be beaten by 'that-1-lil-bolt!'
Yeah one bolt on the transmission for my 96 Ford ranger where it bolts to the engine. 2.3l i4, they used the same transmission in the 4.0l v6 so figured it would be fine since it was rated for at least twice the HP and torque..... it was fine, drove it for years after that no issues.
the engineer on my ship told me that every time they overhaul one of the main engines (basically a fairbanks-morse locomotive engine (we had four), there were parts left over in the boxes yet the engine ran just fine.
I recently rebuilt the front of the motor on my wifes car. I only had two brackets and 8 bolts left over. After wrenching on about 74 bolts and nuts, that’s a pretty good %.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yup and you’ll spend half a day to try and put it back in only to forget the little wire stay clamp that was supposed to go on it too and you’ll have to take it back out again 😂
My oldest brother could take a motor apart, put it back together and have extra parts. But the funny thing was it ran better without them. Damndest thing. I thought it was pretty cool that the manufacturer gives extra parts.
Worse is FINALLY getting that last bolt in and then noticing the bracket that goes behind it sitting on your bench.😱
Sounds like the voice of that experience. 😂😂😂
Been there done that. And that is behind four pieces.
......or that the gasket you just put on....is on backwards......😎👍
Yea...and it's still on my work-bench!
Ye and when you have missed one an need to strip it all back down to get to one tiny 10 mm bolt 🔩 🤯🤬🤣
It’s very thoughtful that the engine manufacturer provides you with extra bolts and washers after you put the engine back together. So awesome

I sure while working a car and the wife is looking, she pockets bolts and there appear afterwards, with like what are these for?
Man that was so messed up but funny funny funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How about dropping a Carter pin down a carburetor, you just rebuilt( in the winter time )when you need the car in the morning?
That one is funny as hell lol
Nasty :-)
Absolutely been there done that! Thanks for sharing a great laugh.
We're just re-engineering. Shaving down weight for better fuel economy is all.
sign of a good mechanic it still works well without it and you have spares.
We call those extra part's we don't need!😂😂😂
Bonus parts
Almost every project I work on. Engineers should have to work on what they design.
Cough>Ford
As an engineer, and someone who enjoys working on cars, I absolutely agree...not mentioning names...Audi, BMW, Ford...etc...etc...
More like Chevrolet
Studebaker had it right
never truer words spoken
😂😂😂😂 been there, that's how your random bolt bin grows
The collection needs a sacrifice sometimes😂
hey shush 👍😂
When that bin has a fastern you need!

I have never been more prepared to help with an auto repair!
Nice dude.
@JimWaller-w7k absolutely no disrespect, I think I see an angel 🤫
Matt & Shane’s secret podcast
Ok weirdo
Some machines have so many parts, it's hard to believe they need all of them.
😂😂😂😂😂
Yes I have been in that situation. I have been working on cars and trucks since I was 8 years old. My grandfather taught me how to be a good mechanic and to have patience.
Sounds like a romantic bedtime story
The bolts I hate are the ones where the part was obviously designed by someone with SMALL hands and double-jointed wrists. You know the ones where you have to go around one thing and under another to put a 5/8" bolt in a 3/8" wide spot. 🤣
😂😂😂
Sounds like you have worked on a few modern Nissan's
That's how I acquired my spare bolt bin
The true sign of a great mechanic is ....he can tell you where all those unnecessary spare parts belong ....after your assembly is finished and running !
That's what the test drive afterwards is for. To confirm the fix, listen for any new rattles, and throw the extra bolts out the window
NEP, Non essential parts
Nope, but I worked with a hack like that. I always knew I could count on him to have a bolt that I might need to complete my project the right way.
a lot to be said for doing a job right
Always love finding extra parts the engine rebuilder sent when you're about finishing up ! ! Yet Melissa you always seem to take everything in good humor. Just as I do or would do. No reason why to let someone shit in my Cheerios ❤
There’s a reason the top bell housing bolt never goes back in on GMs…….
Isn't that the truth. Lol🎉
😂😂😂
@@TheBlueCollarBaller What top bolt?! 💀
@thedieselqueenmelissa715 how have you been sweetheart. Do you remember me?
@ENCAGED79 BPOC trans have a single top bolt, but Chevy trans have a valley at top, so 2 top bolts. PS (Buick, Pontiac, Olds, Cadillac) Chevy trans became the corporate trans after the 70s
Struggling to concentrate on what she is saying and keep my eyes on her face 😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've tried to think like some of the engineers, but I just can't dumb down that far.
Right😂😂
When you refuse to admit you are wrong by design!!! ... 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Yes ma'am 😂 but you know you can't sleep knowing that you didn't put it back in so you know 😂
I spent all day replacing a jack shaft. Went to install last bolt and discovered the shaft had not been tapped for bolt. Taught me a good lesson. Double check before you install parts.
Absolutely gorgeous
I absolutely love a woman that can actually work like her. Always have. It is based on respect.
I didn't hear a word and had my eyes fixed on one specific area…
Yea I was staring at the same thing... what is she doing with that hand in there 😂
She's so beautiful ❤
Gorgeous!
Useful tip for working on classic minis/mokes - leave the bottom most clutch bell housing bolt out (forever) makes changing the clutch without removing the engine and transmission from the car possible.
Ma'am if I was blessed with you in my life I don't know if there is anyway possible to have bad days or struggles with anything.
Bros down bad.
Divorced 4 times with 7 kids and still lying to himself.
I've worked on old machinery all my life and there are more frustrations than you could possibly believe, but I would rather work on frustrating machinery than have to deal with a whole lot of frustrating people any time!
If it falls out put it back in !
Beautiful and talented too.
That's the stuff I loose sleep over.
I absolutely ❤ your hair.
Oh I have been there and thought that. Best thing to do is to just walk away from it for a while.
That’s the world we live in blame it on Biden for dropping the ball on the electric cars didn’t and shutting down pipe lines and drilling platforms that’s why that gas car is doing that!❤
You sound uneducated buddy
@@Amer_ica For sure
Extra parts are just proof that you made something that is good, even better.
You crack me up Mel ...
More often than I’d like to admit
I've always had spare parts after jobs 🤣😂 we changed an engine and had an ice cream tub full and I couldn't find my screwdriver for years then found it holding an engine mount instead of the bolt. When you are excited and can't wait to get it going you forget about little things like that 😂🤣👍💚💛❤️
Yep yep yep
Been there. And you know when you put it together and you still have parts, but it functions just means you're smarter, then the engineer

Even though she's covered in grease, the woman is beautiful!
Lmfao every day good luck young lady. 😂
Yup. I know that feeling. In the back of your head you're like, I'll get to it one of these days.
😂🤣😂🤣 I had corner of the garage dedicated to those.
I started out a mechanic and took up machining for that exact reason. Now I make parts that fit. There's a lot of satisfaction in this.
I fucking love you..dead on honesty,
.oh yeah definitely have been there a hundred times at least, and honestly they were fine with out it.
Lol I'd like to say no but..... I'd be lying😂😂😂 .
I'm experiencing this exact thing a bunch of times restoring and rebuilding my XR350R. But I HAD to get it back in because there's not much to a dirtbike as it is lol

Everyone has been there at least once 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Those little Xmas tree fasteners piss me off😂
Lmao hell yea, especially when you can't remember where you left the socket at too 😂

“Yeah that’s not gonna go back in” ! Exactly what I wasn’t thinking
Alot of us have been there ! You do what you can do ! Take Care Melissa!
Amen sister, lots of times , lol I know exactly what you’re talking about..
Darling, we all have those days! Just try to get thru it the best you can! A cold beer after and a kiss and hugg from a loved one helps!
You're hair is so out of control..love it 😂
She is so beautiful
LOL the extra parts left over after everything is back together. 😂
😂 fucking up my world!! Been there ma'am!!! I contemplate every day about my world.
Sometimes You will end up with one extra bolt or missing one bolt at the end of a job! Perfect!👍
Nice smile ❤😂🎉😊
That's what my wife told me, Yeah that's not going back in. Ha! Ha!
Wild and untamed is perfect on you

That bell housing bolt on the new explorers that’s captured…
You’re welcome for it being missing in the future 😂
Love the hair !
Exactly worked on a 2004 Ford F-250 replacing the oil cooler housing I understand completely
Don't touch that
He threw the bolt across the left field 😂😂😂
I recently rebuilt the front of the motor on my wifes car. I only had two brackets and 8 bolts left over. After wrenching on about 74 bolts and nuts, that’s a pretty good %.
Haha yeah every day i trow it across the shop and say exactly that.
Hey little little lady, that’s what I do for a living, and it also looks like my pry bar hahaha 😊
Every engine replacement ends up with "spare" parts😂
The world would be a better place, if every woman on this planet was as handy and as beautiful as she is. ❤❤
Your spot on lady just perfect
Yes. And greetings from the land of one lug down. Lmao
There she is !!! Have you happened to see the most beautiful girl in the world.
LMAO every time I touch my car, that's why I procrastinate😂
The number of gear boxes ive pulled to find the top bolt missing 😂😂
I have been employed as a mechanic, worked in the oil field, and now install/work on CNC machines. And yes I have in all 3 jobs.
Thats being more efficient than the factory.
What's worse is when you go through that headache and it doesn't fix the problem
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yup and you’ll spend half a day to try and put it back in only to forget the little wire stay clamp that was supposed to go on it too and you’ll have to take it back out again 😂

Damn you go girl 😜
More than once, I have a drawer full of stuff that wasn't going to go back in! 😂😂😂😂
