- DC fast charging (or Level 3 charging) is crucial for charging your electric car on longer journeys. ⚡️ Although EVs spend most of their time AC charging (or Level 1 charging) at home, DC charging provides fast charging at public stations and can charge your battery in 20 minutes to an hour depending on different factors.
Let’s take a closer look at a public EV charging station in Finland. In this video, we are at Heinolan Heila Cafe and Restaurant in Finland. ☕️
🔌 At this charging station, they offer 4 Kempower Satellite charging points that are operated by Helen Energy.
What’s impressive about the Kempower Satellite chargers?
both CHAdeMO and CCS2 plugs available
intuitive and user-friendly touch screen
spring loaded cables that are easy to lift & stay off the ground
scannable QR code to take charging status on mobile
dynamic power distribution system to optimize & distribute available power efficiently

This charging system setup look much better then the typical. Well thought out and lay out. Good job.
Thanks for your comment, we agree that this charging station did well 😊⚡️
The test of the quality will be how much up time you get and how quickly they’re repaired
*Note* AC charging can be considered as either Level 1 or Level 2 charging
Why AC and DC distinction is made, as the network is AC anyway - sounds like you get more energy out of DC, but why that seems to be the way to do it
@@Hukkinen while charging at AC charging point, the battery is charged by the built-in charger of the car aka OBC. That has usually 11kW maximum charging power. When you charge with DC, the OBC is bypassed and energy flows directly into the EV's battery thus much higher charging power can reached.
Do you use battery buffers to get all chargers at the same time to unload at full speed?
Really enjoying the Kempower videos. Not a big deal at all but technically there's no such thing as Level 3 DC charging, it's still Level 2 DC charging up to 400kW under SAE J1772 😆
Thank you! 😊
How to search for kempower chargers in Finland?
You can use an app like Plug Share or latauskartta.fi/ for example and filter different requirements for chargers, then browse the pictures to see if the station features Kempower chargers. Hope this helps! 🙏
