Watching "Matt's Off-road Recovery" has shown me alternate methods of Winching. I live in Utah and this guy shows some pretty incredible uses in seriously precarious situations in our Deserts.
Loved getting a look at this jeep and gear at rep day :) Glad ya'll was there :D
Saw you on MSN and CNN re: Brian Laundrie. Great to see you back on TV again Dave!
Being prepared isn't just a matter of equipment, you've got to know how to use that equipment. Thanks for sharing, David.
Hey I saw you on CNN and it got me thinking about you. Miss watching you on TV dude. At least I get to watch the old episodes on Discovery+. Be well my friend.
Good to see you Dave thank you for all the good memories you and Codi gave you have a new subscriber
With a snatch block and a red devil I can go anywhere thank God for humble beginning and for the Appalachian mountains.
Nice! I would say that tree strap is 9000lbs and going around and using both ends at the same time like you did and show in the diagram, it doubles the strength. Not the other way around. In any case, love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Just met this man and Shaun in TN outside a knife store. I was so excited and couldn’t believe ran into this in a non planned trip to the place. Made my whole year. Got a pic and a knife totally awesome.
Oh PS saw this rig there as well been seeing it since th e beginning awesome to see it live
1 mil subs soon dave! some of your old stuff was on the TV this morning... appreciate getting to watch your beard change color over the years
lots of love and keep it up
Sometimes you can only get unstuck by reversing. Hence, have a floating winch such as a drill winch, chainsaw winch, or if super-keen, 2 receivers front and rear for a detachable winch. Also carry manual methods such as a rope puller (similar to a come-along), or boat trailer winch.
10 STARS! A++ Very well explained.
Awesome information. I always watch these JUST IN CASE I ever need the information haha. I very rarely off-road but am fascinated in gaining the knowledge in case a life circumstance put me in a situation where it'd be useful. Plus DC is as good of an instructor as you could ever ask for.
I 2nd this 👍
I just found your channel recently, and I have been really enjoying it. Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work over all the years. Cheers, motomuttly
I just saw your video on CNN, I was like "hey I know that guy!" Congrats dude!
LOVE the new Dyneme option for winching. Proper care of wire rope is such a PITA (from my days of high rise window cleaning).
It probably also wouldn't hurt to carry an extra 50' length of the dyneema winch rope with eye splices on both ends. I am sure there is some version of a Murphy law of winches whereby your vehicle is stuck a just a little bit further away from an anchor point than the maximum length of your winch line.
Many many times.😉. 🙄 I've been in that situation a few times and more.
Nice presentation touching base on this aspect of what may happen in a mobile scenario!
Matt's recovery service in Utah been using soft shackles for years, that's where I saw them used first
Great video Dave. I always enjoy the knowledge you are willing to share. Thank you sir.
Obrigado Dave por mais esse video! O jeep ta muito legal, bem equipado.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome, you will be in my neck of the woods! Hope to see you guys at Smoky Mountain Knife Works!
😅 provided the perfect oak ends up
Where you’re stuck..
But seriously.. thanks for all your
Knowledge…🤜🏼🤛🏼
the episodes in the winter when ur freezing and im at home eating hot pockets :P
I really hope you do the free trappers diary this year, I really loved that series
If you ever outgrow this Jeep your next one should be the Gladiator Apocalypse Hellcat. Saw it on Jay Leno’s Garage. It’s awesome!
Great video Dave. Remember your gear is only as strong as your weakest link when pulling. Hey Dave maybe make another video using power to track recovery. If you really want some recovery ideas think about mire ratios. Thanks again Dave for all you do. Whoa
Thanks Dave 73 AB7RR Bob God Bless America P.S. I got a QSO to Barcelona Spain today on 20 meters bare foot IC-7300 inverted V
Should have my 705 tomorrow
Dave, could you do a video on what to do when a person has no trees or boulders to anchor/attach. In the West we often have that problem on sage brush flats/hills, etc. Thanks.
Outstanding
What!? No high lift? LOL. Thanks Dave, great info as always
You have the best information thanks my friend
Great video Dave thank you
Question: how would you be able to winch out if you were stuck in the sand at a beach?
Dynema sounds expensive, does UV degrade it? It should be lighter weight than old steel cable and no broken strands to poke through your gloves. Carry a spare?
Excellent! 👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎
Ol Dave still going 💪
killer setup 🤙
There was a pretty extensive test that showed those billet pulleys actually have significantly more load on the winch than a regular block. I know they’re all the rage, but I don’t trust it. I bought some new snatch blocks to use with mine, so I’m not reusing the ones scarred up from wire cable.
Interesting
Curious to see those tests, the results aren't intuitive at all for me and I'd like to understand.
Hey Dave where did you get belt sheath for SAK? Love the gladiator build series. You always keep giving out great info. Stay well!
Good video
Very nice
_got to love physics_
Good video good dude
He y Canterbury I thaught you lived in Penn.
Hey Dave I love your channel . I live by Cleveland Ohio and I am looking to take a class or two in wilderness survival but my issue is I have had reconstructive shoulder surgery so I really have to be careful on what I do with my shoulder . I have pretty significant restrictions on physical use of it . Is there any class available for someone like me? Thanks Dave.
great
Cool..
Are you the badass from Dual Survivor?
This is a little weird and off topic but I had a dream that in the zombie apocalypse me and my family found your house and teamed up with you. And me and you went bowhunting...🤔
Dreams are your unlived desires
The old block and tackle. No matter how you change the parts look it is just a block and tackle setup. Works in any weather :)
Dave love your stuff been watching you a long time if you're ever in Northeast Ohio I would love to get together and go deer hunting with you God bless
Are you still with pathfinder and self reliance outdoors?
I own it! So I would say yes
👍👍
Wouldn't hurt to carry the sink and fridge.
Well if jeep weight 9000lb , it dose not mean that draging force will be 9000lb !!
If tour jeep is hanging up in the air , than its all 9000lb !!

You put bow shackle wrong.
I don’t use a bow shackle that was not already attached?
That’s not called noose it’s called choking.
Holly cr@p. How much sh1t can you put in your truck? 😍
'Winch', Dave, the word is 'winch'. SMH..."wench"...geezis...
Clickbait
WTF?
