Still catching up and I have a question :
Do you think another dog who retrieves could « educate » this little girl ?
I know you don’t have a gundog any more but still….
    Thank you for sharing

Lovely video. She is a great looking pup. Still working on the recall. However Like you shotover mine. No issues. Will retrieve pheasants and tennis balls. No interest in retrieving crows. Pigeons she will retrieve. Funny how they make up their minds. Brilliant little pup for finding game when the wind is in her nose. Your videos have helped massively. Thank you.

    Cracking video George.
Can I ask, will you be looking to work ditches, thick undergrowth and water (i.e. duck etc) with her, or is she mainly an open field dog, working the sort of terrain she’s been in so far in your videos? (I was going to ask if she’d ever retrieve from thick stuff, water etc but I don’t need to now!)

The kind of ground you describe is all but non existent in my part of the country, so she'll be mainly an open country dog with occasional forays into what you described.

Really appreciate your videos, been a huge help with my young Teckel (14 month old). I'm hopefully going to take him on rough shoots, he's ok with the bangs, now had him find and retrieve dead Teal so made up with progress so far. His issues at the moment are getting carried away on a scent but i expect your tips with the Stop command will eventually become etched in ( at the moment, if he's near a hedge, he can bolt but middle of a field he listens). Plan on taking him this weekend beating, possibly pick up some birds but will likely keep him on the lead for the most of it. Any tips though regarding him being over keen on other dogs on the shoot? He's a very sociable dog, things are working well just the two of us but i fear he'll be distracted with other dogs working the shoot.
Thank you for your work 🙏👌

train him solo until he's more focused, don't set him up to fail.

Hi George,I'm just wondering what chokes you have on your gun and if thier more than half choke,do you worry about the ban on lead shot?

David, I've no idea what chokes are on the gun, I believe if it's pointed in the right direction it makes no difference. Haven't heard any talk here in Ireland about a lead ban, maybe it's mooted but I haven't heard.

@@springerspanielfulhi George, unfortunately certain wetland areas in Ireland are now subject to a lead shot ban including some areas of co Tipperary, looks like it's mainly the rivers, il try to send you a screenshot of the map, the red areas are non toxic only

Sorry, I can't share the map here but if you Google lead ban map you'll find it

They can be funny. Mine couldn't care less about balls except very small ones. I've done lots to try and get a natural retrieve out of him but man it was hard work. I don't think he had any retrieve at her age but he's pretty good in the yard at 18months. Still doesn't care much in the field though.
