    We really are loving following your journey! From the first episode "you gotta bring in the sail", to sailing to our favorite Caribbean islands. ..we applaud you! Good to know the Coast Guard is so quick to respond. Safe travels and thank you for sharing your journey!

    I stayed out fishing one time, and my parents called the Coast Guard. 😂😂😂😂

    Thank goodness for the men and women of the US Coast Guard! I am sure that they are more than happy to find an "oopsie" with a positive outcome than any other alternative!

      The USCG is beyond amazing. What I didn’t show in the video was how much they tried to reach out through voicemails, FB, and instagram and how much they followed up through phone calls after we reached St. Thomas. They even contacted the armada in the Dominican Republic. I’m still friends with some of them through social media. I’ve seen other countries coast guard and, hands down, no one comes close to the USCG. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

      Finding a boat safe and okay is the Coastguard’s best outcome.

    Yes, a lot of chaos, but the last six minutes are lovely. Jammed radio signal, collapsing davits, a CBP glitch denies you entry. A dramatic "rescue" by the Coast Guard! Some bad luck, some lessons learned as you said. But then, gorgeous scenes at sunset (13:58) and sunrise, and a pristine beach to enjoy. Wonderful footage of the Seagull raid, e.g. 15:19! Touching final scene.

    so happy to find your channel. I will go back and look at all your previous posts. I used to sail all those islands down there extensively. Make sure and try to stop and see as much as you can, hopefully with no threats of tropical storms. Fairwinds

    That is hilarious about the Coast Guard. I feel ya though. A long time ago, after I left combat training in the Marines for my first school to work on jets, my mother called all the Marines because she hadn't heard from me. I had a broken foot in a non walking cast and was not interested in going on a hike to find a phone to call home. Some Captain chewed me to pieces for not calling my mommy more.🤦‍♂️

    Great video again, I really love your background music choices. I feel really bad for you guy's regarding your davit. Stuff just breaks on a boat when you least expect it. Very hard to plan for all these crazy scenarios. Keep yourselves positive i think you are doing a outstanding job especially with four young children, it must be very difficult but rewarding.

      Thank you so much! Sometimes I pick right on the music, sometimes it’s a miss! Thanks for watching! The davits breaking was a blessing. We love our new davits and it works better for how our dinghy is set up.

      @@sailingmachete my wife said that’s something her mother would do! Looks like starlink dropped the price for marine to make it comparable to RV plan. Are you guys using that? Or is there fine print on that plan?

      We have mobile regional for 150/month. But will have to change to mobile global before we leave Panama for $200/month. While underway we have to pay $2/GB

    • @TheDiverJim
      @TheDiverJim 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@sailingmachete the 2$/GB is for starlink? When I heard that in the video, i thought you were using iridium. How disappointing. So much for watching Netflix underway in the pacific

    • @sailingmachete
      @sailingmachete  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yes definitely no streaming! It looks like we can download movies from Disney+ so we are going to do that before we leave for Galapagos and play them underway

    Just a suggestion for potentially the next time you have to tow your dinghy, take the motor off if possible. I've flipped my dinghy a few times like that with the motor on, and having to do some emergency maintenance on an old two-stroke is easier than doing it on a four-stroke :)

    • @sailingmachete

      @gfimadcat 6 месяцев назад

      @@sailingmachete it will at some point, gust of wind, just the right wave, and flop, it'll be upside down :( I generally just towed mine empty so if it does flip it's no big deal but I only had a dinky 3hp outboard to get back on board for it so it wasn't a pain in the to do :D
