This is so beautiful I get teary-eyed when I watch it. Almost a decade later, it still hits me every time. Why? I don't understand it myself. I guess it's the positivity, so contagious and so welcome. Just thinking about all the effort that went into it, all those young people standing by, queued up and ready to go. Maybe it's about how I miss those college days... discovering my own creative energies, working with classmates on fun projects, committing to something bigger, carving out our place in the world.

And I just love the amount of work and creativity and coordination and yes the positivity! I tear up when I see this and I think it's because part of me looks at the dark side of humanity and how destructive it can be and this just gives me hope!
When this video came out I was 7 years old and I was terrified of college. I refused to leave home but then I saw this video and it looked super fun so I decided I wanted to go. 11 years later and I’ll be going to college next year. I know this is pretty late lmao but I was feeling nostalgic and this video meant a lot to me.
If this master piece would have been made by US students it would have 100+ milion views. I can't believe it took me 13 years to find this while I was watching videos of labradors raising ducklings and a high school kid playing 10 seconds of a hip hop song at the piano making everyone lose their shit. I guess what I'm really trying to say is thank you France (or maybe Canada) for this awesome piece of art.
What I love about watching this video is the abundance of personalities we imagine, being applied to everyone accurately. I feel like we know them well just by seeing them act in this video, and are relatable to other people we know in our own lives.
Dam still run across this from time to time. Brings tears to my eyes now, just reminds me I'm getting older but I will say it again the best LipDub ever these kids did a hell of a job and the director and his crew kudos for creating something beautiful that will outlive all of us.

The timing of this continuous shot video would have been so difficult to choreograph and pull off, with this number of people. Not sure how they did it, with such perfect timing. Kudos. Well done.

Estava vendo com meu filho e dizendo pra ele que algo que admiro nos EUA (claro que este é do Canadá, mas estávamos vendo o Lip Dub da cidade de Grand Rapids com a música American Pie antes, se você não viu, procure que é muito bom também) é como lá mesmo as cidades pequenas têm muitos talentos. Cada uma tem seus escritores locais, que só fazem sucesso lá, cantores locais, que só fazem sucesso lá... mas sempre muito talentosos. Acho que isso vem do incentivo à cultura e à criatividade da educação de lá, e falta em outros lugares do mundo, não só no Brasil. Aqui parece que pra pessoa ser criativa ou artista, tem que pensar em morar no Rio ou em São Paulo.
Vi esse vídeo em 2009...Hoje, 2023, a música tocou no aleatório lembrei desse vídeo. Em 2012 viajei para o Canadá, fiquei muito perto da UQAM...me dei conta, agora...11 anos depois...Que coisa!

I love how just about every person has a good amount of screen time and how well the lyrics are dubbed, and just the overal simplicity of the video. Goes to show you don't need all them special effects or high budgets, just a group of people who want to have fun.
Weird to think when I watched this when I was 13 living in the UK, I thought Canada seemed so much fun to live in. And 11 years later I happened to move there. And 4 years after that (28 years old) I do live in Canada, and I absolutely love it (my French is still awful, désolé)
Hopefully I'll get there in 2 years as well. :) My 18 years old self once dreamed about an abroad college experience in Canada. It's never too late to achieve your dreams, may they differ from their original form... 12 years later I should be coming there with my girlfriend for a business and entrepreneurial life :)

This video is in my Favorites, and every so often I watch it again. Love it. I think this is one the best examples of the single-camera-shot lib-dub videos out there. I think the camera work at the beginning needed some better filter/f-stop planning, but the rest worked great. Some really hot girls too :)
