I received my bare root plants from Predatory Plants and today I'm going to show you how I repotted my Nepenthes pitcher plants and my new Sundews. Predatory Plants ships the plants in long fiber spagnum moss as a good padding to protect the plants which also doubles as the plants substrate!
The carnivorous plants were shipped with care in zip lock bags. The roots were wrapped in a paper towel type material and were still damp when received. All plants looked pretty healthy after being in the mail for several days. Today I'm going to give them their forever home.

I started collecting carnivorous plants again after a few years of not having any. Check out the beginning of my journey after I brought home some venus flytraps, a nepenthes ventrata and a sarracenia purpurea. You can watch that video below.

I recently got this pitcher plant. I’m learning on how to care for it. Keep us updated 9n the plants progress. Thanks for sharing!
looking forward to more updates!
Thank you! They will be coming!!
Thank you for the video! Didn’t know it was this easy! And good luck on your dream on owning a CP nursery!
Anytime, and thank you!!
If you get cape sundews heard they'll spread like weeds.
I'll likely get a cape sundew at some point, but I'm more focused on nepenthes and venus flytraps at the moment. Working out the humidity is a bit tough, but I have a couple things in the works.
Another second go-round video down. My girlfriend stares at me like I’m crazy when I’m repotting my plants….she doesn’t see how that’s fun. I tell her it’s a nerd thing. 😂
Haha, hard to explain to some!
Can i use pumice and sphagnum moss in a 50:50 ratio?
Gonna get any bladderworts and butterworts?
Definitely at some point!
😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
and it will do the same thing
How would you incorporate perlite in this?
One thing I prefer to do when I get any carnivourous plant whether it is potted or not is to repot it with the correct media completely. I take off all the previous media down to bare root. That way I know for sure the new media is fresh. No way to know how old the media they were shipped with is.
This is true. I try to find a balance between getting rid of the old substrate and messing with the roots too much. If I know where the plant came from and when it was last repotted I do tend to leave more of the previous substrate intact. But usually, I try to get most of it off.
Very nice plants hope they do well for you
Thank you! So far they are doing awesome. I'll post updates soon!
i really enjoy watching your vids theyre so relaxing
Thank you so much for the kind words!
can i use liveing moss
You can use live moss, but after a little while the roots of the live moss might start competing with the roots of your plant. I don't mind some live moss on top, but I'd probably try to avoid using live moss fort he entire repot.
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub ok thanks
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub i thought moss did not have roots
i wont to use living sphagunm moss
where do you get you plants
My favorite place to get carnivorous plants is from California Carnivores. Very experienced, trustworthy and knowledgeable. Also, use CPHUB to get 10% off your order! Check them out! www.californiacarnivores.com/collections?aff=7
At predatory plants.
How wet do you keep these guys?
For the Nepenthes, I top water them daily. Mist the plant and make sure the long fiber sphagnum moss never dries out. I do not keep these in a tray of water. For the Sundews, they do like a tray of water and appreciate a little more humidity. I rarely top water them as the tray typically keeps them pretty moist. Try to never let the tray dry completely out.
