    The way I have described this phenomenon to my friends is: Desecrated ground does not act like an "Entity" doing "Contact Damage" that is stackable, it acts more like an "Environmental Effect" that's either "on or off". I got a GA pair of boots with a 66.6% chance to double cast Sever and found this sad truth out at the start of the season. Thank you for bringing public light to this. The other GA Unique I got "cheated/robbed" with this season was Howl From Below. "Corpse Explosion Fears and Slows" specifically. The Normal Range is 0.4-0.6 for this effect, but if you get a GA it takes it to.... 0.7 >_< Why...

    This bums me out so much! This is the exact build and playstyle I've been wanting to try on the Necro for a while - something fast-paced with direct-use attacks that give a death knight vibe. Here's to hoping the devs can provide some kind of solution for this!

    I fell in love with the necro dots from day one of the game because of decompose and bloodless then blight and ce. I was like kid in a candy store until I went online and saw the dominating builds were always minion/bone spear/spirit. Critting and one shotting is cool and all but I want aoe dot that actually excels like as you put “has been hinted at” but never truly fulfilled. Season 4 with ebonpiercer gave me that same exact feeling again and way more so leading into this season only to yet again see “don’t run anything but bone spirit”. Grinding with the ebonpiercer tank build last season was my favorite but I want to see shadow go into the end game content that other builds do even if it’s not dots.

      What if they added an additional weapon slot “for the minion” as a reasoning but just to allow more aspects. For example, another 2h or a 1h and an amulet /shield but the minion slot gets a reduction or something if it’s too op. This way you could have a 2h on the necro for power and a dagger/sword and amulet/shield for some extra little aspects and lucky hit stats etc. Then something lacking like bloodless or ebon can be made up for by still having a legendary aspect without buffing the uniques to the moon.

    I really appreciate you bringing this up. Things slipping through the cracks can absolutely sour people's experiences. I'm a bit lucky in that I wasn't trying to run a shadow build this season, but I do want to in future seasons so I'd very much like to see this addressed.

    Desecrated ground, really should stack, it would be a big win for shadow builds which have felt pretty bad this season.

      I wonder how bad is shadow this season as you can stack high lucky hit. Blighted got nerfed but bloodless scream can act as somewhat a replacement as hit to cc on gear and fist of fate can apply 7 different debuff boosting creeping death also.

      @zel2113 considering the wither node still isn't capped, which is a bug and bloodless scream getting a buff I would imagine you can still do pretty hard content with it, the big pain point comes with blighted getting nerfed which was by far the easiest way to get power on a shadow build and it's only downhill from there if they decide to cap wither like they planned to.

      @@zel2113believe me I try. Even with a triple GA bloodscream it can not outperform. For low Level pits and hordes (below pit tier 60 and horde Level 6) it is amazing and very powerful, every elite get nearly insta freeze with just one sever shotgun and bosses were staggerred just in few seconds BUT above this levels bloodscream were useless.
      Devs should definitely change blighted aspect. I know they can change the aspect because most other necro builds use this passive because of the huge buff and they did not intend to do it. But they can change the aspect like these;
      “deal %[x] increased SHADOW damage for 6 seconds after the Shadowblight Key Passive damages enemies 10 times.” Like the damned aspect”

    I really hope Shadow builds get some changes for next season. Bone based Necro builds are just not fun to me. I’m running blight this season regardless of how bad it is… 😐

      Felt this man it sucks. Im breaking the bank running blood because bone is just boring to me and I’ve had all my fun with minions last season. They truly shitted on the nero in d4 as awhole in my opinion

      @@patroX123 started with blood surge now I’ve moved into what they calling the spirit wave build this season which is just blood wave on steroids in my opinion with the added spirits doing crazy damage on top of blood wave and blood lance its a pretty cool build i solo T8 no problem and tormented bosses are clockwork. Unlike s4 where the blood wave build had a mana problem in a way, you can pretty much spam it this season. It’s a pretty insane build just expensive if you want all you can get out of it ya know. The regular version of it isn’t bad either but it caps at T6 on solo and you can definitely feel and see the difference between the two.

    This is my third Necro , and I am so grateful for this video. I went on and did this build but when I saw ur vid it helped me and made this build fun. Maybe it's not the sorc build where U destroy all U see but it is fun to play. My love to you from mother Russia, hope this stupid war ends soon and again I thank U for ur efforts.

    I have been wondering why I haven't been putting out the damage I felt my shadow necro should. I know now. Shadow necro is my most favorite spec in the game but it always felt lacking. they need to fix this. Thank you for discovering this! Also to add Greaves of Empty tomb will be useless if it is just supposed to work as static damage.

    Bottom line they have shitted on the necro in d4 in my opinion is has so much potential but yet its in my opinion next to druid the least thought put into character choice we can have. I mean its a freaking character that controls the dead its so much cool things the nerco should be able to do

    Oh man, I have been wanting the reaper necro to be viable since the day one. I was hoping this would be the season. It runs decent enough but the louder part of my brain won’t stop screaming that is sever is severely underwhelming. I can’t even begin to understand the new aspect or how that will work with tempering the chance to cast twice, plunging, etc

    Kinda makes sense now. I was trying the minion route with aspect of Occult dominion for more minions + Mortacrux for even more minions + Shademist aspect to apply dot for each minion + Supernatural Sever for + 2% damage per minion and found it weird that I wasn't ramping the DoT damage the way I expected

    Can you test and cover the Mendeln ring +to masteries bug also? Some weird stuff is happening there. What we figured out on the Necro forum, is that the ranks do show up out side town, but only warriors are bemefiting from them.

    I thought I tested it wrong, because I was feeling kinda weak leveling to 100 with a sever dot build and I'm happy I came to the right conclusion changing it

      Well it's not that easy. In town it doesn't show the ranks, but out side it adds the ranks, but only warriors are actually getting the benefit.

    I think you might be right with nerco damage is bugged, I also noticed ring of mendeln busted, the ranks to warriors,mages,golem doesn't work

    I play sever every season and I appreciate this information. I'm running sever lidless wall right now with the shielding storm. Plays very well during infernal hordes.

    I see this more as a design inconsistency than a bug. I was actually surprised when the game launched that we had aoe dot skills stacking their damage while overlapping. If you look at how blizzard or grasp of dead behave in d3, the desecrated ground results would be very expected. I would say d4 development has been at odds with what direction to maintain, or that different members of the team are using different standards when designing.

    This happened last season with twin strikes unique, and with the twister glyph, both for Barbarian. Neither worked at all. They were new additions to the game. Or they were recently changed last patch at a minimum. And neither worked. They just... did nothing... all of season 4. Horrible programming of this game.

    I suspect that this is intended behavior and not a bug. The designers knew that it would not stack when they made the ranges for +Desecrated Ground Damage and the Desecration Glyph so high. Because it is not stackable, the bonuses can be much higher without breaking things. Worked great with Shadow Wave last season. But alas, they murdered Wither and while I like the idea of push people to use the Shadowblight passive... SB is capped in terms of procs, which means it also can't really scale after a certain point. I think making Shadow have 3 distinct flavors (Shadowblight, Desecrated Ground (single high damage DOT), and stackable lower damage DOT (CE) is neat from a design perspective. But some adjustments from the current state need to be made if any of them are going to be able to scale into really high end content. I really want a pure CE build to be able to work one day...

    Yeah, I don’t think it’s a bug at all.
    I think the problem is that the desecrated ground effect is like a flat thing. The ground itself has changed into a different state. I guess they don’t overlap, they simply refresh the duration that the ground is considered “desecrated”
    But I’m in the same boat as you in thinking that they should stack.

    Hey @macroboiboi , can we please get a video explaining how minions scale damage. I’m currently working on a either pure or shadow minion build and I’m stuck with golem doing million damage (base), but warriors / mages (from what I’m testing with) only doing 80 - 150k damage (base). I have plus ranks to hellbent commander, warriors, mages, and golem mastery(amazing gear) with tempers on summoning damage. I’m just not sure what more I can do and I’m stuck struggling to complete high level NM and average pits. Even Infenal hoards pit 4 is a challenge.

      The new temper plan is crit dmg since it works equally for both, and double cast for mages because Kalan's gives enough attack speed to skip that temper. Warrior mastery is skipped for other stats like Essence per second to fuel Great Feast. Golem is still going to do the big damage but the mages add up when you get them focused on one target.

    They need to fix this and recasts of rabies not stacking. Interesting dot builds completely wrecked by unintuitive mechanics not letting them stack. It's even worse for rabies because the nodes on the skill tree make recasting it a DPS loss because it resets the damage ramp timer.

    Hey macro what about the unique two handed scythe that turns darkness skills into cold I’d try it out but I’m having a hard enough time finding gear for the bone spirit

      Bloodless Scream does not turn darkness skills into cold. It adds a chill CC effect to darkness skills, increases damage to frozen targets, and adds a Lucky hit to generate essence against frozen targets. There is no cold damage.

    That sucks. Couldve been a nice build if it stacked.
    I wonder if it just snapshots the damage from the initial desecrated ground a multi-stacked desecrated ground would be applied if an unaffected mob walked over it.
    Still, should just stack normally.

    Dono why it's assumed to be a bug. You dont have "4 instances of desecrated ground". You have just a prolonged single instance of it. Theres no bug there at all. The ground is either desecrated or it isnt.

    This sucks, but I do think this exactly how it was always meant to work. Once ground is desecrated it is desecrated; there's only one ground beneath you. It sucks and limits a number of possible cool builds, but to me it seems pretty obvious from the name that it is not a bug and that this is intended

      I think you are correct in that it was made this way because of how Blood-Soaked interacts with it, but I also agree with Mac that it not only makes it inconsistent with every other shadow DoT, it's also inconsistent with every other secondary class effect. In their pivot to making it into a real effect with a name and everything, they just never gave any thought to updating the functionality.

    Game should be called hotfix5000 not Diablo4 what a mess
