    a lot of moment when Paige could have scored but she passes the ball to an open team mate or somebody closer to the basket that makes her a team player and deserves the Mvp. Australia is such a great team too they almost beat USA if not for overtime

      Yea Paige has that extra bit of team play making talent on offence and she deserved MVP. Exciting to watch but at the next level she needs to improve her defence and become a 2-way threat. At the next level, great offence might win you games but great defence wins you titles. She's a generational talent. Much more to come from her.

      @@appleheadslatte Ironically, Caitlin Clark was also on this team, but she didn't play more than 5 minutes in this whole tournament and the irony is in the fact that she's now probably top 3 in college hoops for women. All of them are in college right now and are lighting it up. Van Lith for Louisville, just lost in the Sweet 16 last year and this year in the final four. Paige last year lost in the Final four to Arizona, thanks to Aari McDonald, and now this year she's in the championship against South Carolina and Boston.

    I think paige needed to work on her defense there. However, she should have been handling the point. She can attack and create shots and knows passing lanes like steve nash. You saw her inbounds passes, so she can see the floor well. Once she gets to Uconn she's going to get the correct coaching and the ball in her hands. She's quick and has great offensive IQ. just gotta work on the defense and she'll be unstoppable. Entertaining game. Both teams balled out.

    • @cbrend22
      @cbrend22 2 года назад +2

      really stepped it up on D this year; she’s been by far UConn’s best overall D player, although Olivia has had some strong on ball D, but not as consistently and not with the same impact. In only 6 games this year, she changed the momentum is 4 of them, and her D was a key factor each time. She’s so smart on D.

    • @zaynes5094
      @zaynes5094 2 года назад

      @@cbrend22 When she wants to actually play tough every defensive position. Got kinda lucky against Stanford in the final Four because stanford forced 14 turnovers and they still couldn't score off them. Even Iowa, with only Caitlin Clark and Monika Cznanno really stars on offense and defense, would hit more than 6 points off those 14 turnovers. Mark my words, if they don't stop being so sloppy with the ball, they will get EATEN alive by South Carolina. Aaliyah Boston will eat all night if they don't double her in the paint and if they don't stop her offensive boards/ They also will have to deal with Zia Cooke, She didn't do much last year, only averaged 10 points and 3 assists per game in the playoffs and only averaged 7.4 this season off the bench because she's been dealing with a hamstring issue, but she'll be a tough one to match with. She's got speed, strength, and shooting that they'll have to watch out for. It could be close, with all those factors covered, but it could also be a 20-point blowout.

    Paige seems more effective at the point. Van Lith seems better at the shooting guard. Paige seems to have a sluggish motor for some reason (ex: very lax off the ball D), we'll see at the next level but she definitely has the big game potential. As she gets stronger and gets her energy up she could be a dominant player at the next level.
    She's great now but that does not always translate at the next level.
    Rooting for her to bring Uconn back to that top tier as they've been down just a little bit the last couple of years.

    • @jdb19
      @jdb19 3 года назад +2

      Geno Auriemma, the UConn coach, said in a press conference that one of the most impressive things about her game is that she plays at her own pace, and it never changes throughout the game. He said it takes years to develop that. She doesn't get excited, she doesn't push it, she just executes what needs to be done when it needs to be done. I trust him to be right on this. And with everything she accomplished as a freshman, he seems to know what he's talking about. As he said about her, "She's much better than I thought she was. At the end of the first week of practice, it was obvious she was the best player on the team." And this is UConn.
      I think it has translated very well.

      Fair point. Watching the replay, the American already had both arms around the Australian so the first foul should have been the one to stand. That said, the foul by the defender was not as obvious as it would have been had the Australian waited just a split second longer so, if the refs couldn't use video to review the decision, I can't really blame them. Of course, the American was only close enough to get hit because she was fouling.

    Bad call.. Clearly a foul on 13 but ref waited. Plus, an offensive player is allowed shooting space so for her to protect the ball is legal and 13 getting hit is her fault for being so close 🤷‍♀️

      She should move the player by pivoting forward not throwing her elbows around. Hate those players.
