    The leslie simulation is what I've been looking for. Excellent emulation if you don't have a physical leslie. Alot of clonewheels are missing this feature. Coming from viscount that has a bad leslie Sim. This is alot better.

  • @ericmorata-c4w

    The work of Hammond engineers is impressive to be able to reproduce the legendary sound of tonewheels in synthesis technology. Only one thing in my opinion (I am not the only faithful Hammond organist to have noticed it) that is not 100% optimized: the Leslie effect in fast speed. The difference in sound is obvious when you connect a new Hammond SK or XK to a real Leslie 122, 147, 760 or new generation speaker. The integrated effect is acceptable in slow speed, but in fast speed there are some high frequencies that do not sound very good.

    Can't wait to see this; have been considering an Xk-1C but will wait for this one now. Why does no manufacturer make a basic MIDI controller with a Hammond style keybed? Semi-weighted and waterfall keys? You'd think there would be a huge market for that

    • @marvinkmooneyoz
      @marvinkmooneyoz Год назад +1

      Ive been saying for years. But its actually not that much better with weighted keyboards. Theres the monstrous Kawaii VPC which is SO heavy! And theres midi controllers with Fatar action that arent really THAT good. But NO one makes a true organ keybed midi controller, unless you are counting the lower manuals that Crumar and Hammond make, guess that technically counts, but those dont have drawbars or buttons, just keys. Until fairly recently, fact is, digital organs didnt really sound that good. I would usually leave the top two or three drawbars off or at least low, they would sound shrill. And all these players leaving their drawbar settings for long stretches of time, the sound would start to grate on the ears. So they really should have been making midi controller organs that you could be confident with as a controller, and then buy modules every few years to keep up with the sound tech. But why should we have to spend buying a whole new keyboard that STILL wasnt up to snuff sound-wise? Now, finally, the industry has gotten the sound pretty darn well, so it doesnt matter as much.

    • @islandtony5009
      @islandtony5009 Год назад +1

      @@marvinkmooneyoz I'm actually looking into trying to import a FATAR TP/80 keybed from Doepfer - they still have those, and can sell them with an "MKE" board kit so you basically have a waterfall MIDI controller you can build a case for. Not easy getting prices and info though

    • @marvinkmooneyoz
      @marvinkmooneyoz Год назад +1

      @@islandtony5009 the default tp/80 is stiffer then how Hammonds feel, be aware. Crumar swaps the springs out for something lighter, nord did this on their organs, but not on electro and stage.

    • @islandtony5009
      @islandtony5009 Год назад +1

      @@marvinkmooneyoz Thanks that's good to know; the only Hammond I've ever been able to try in person is an SK1 (still new, been sitting at a small music shop here for years; but still kinda $$$$); I loved the action on it, but I think I like the Electro 6D action better - are you saying the Electro has the TP/80 without having switched out the springs? I also have my eye on a pristine Studiologic Numa 2 which I believe has the TP/80 action on it as well.

    • @marvinkmooneyoz
      @marvinkmooneyoz Год назад +1

      @@islandtony5009 Right the Electros have the default springs, which are designed for a sort of compromise between organ and piano playing. Best choice action for single board gigs, perhaps, but not ideal for glorious palm-smear Hammond playing. I forget what the situation with Hammond-Suzukis lower products is such as the SK, if they are Fatar or not....Im pretty sure the XK-5 and their consols are their own action.

    So, thanks to this detailed demo it's difficult to understand that this new one sounds better than my SKXPro.
    On the contrary, it seems that this is a downgrade for some features...
    I'll try as soon as possible

    • @bonnersmusic
      @bonnersmusic  Год назад +2

      The new MTW2 XK4 organ engine in the XK4 is an upgrade on sound quality vs the original SKX. and it offers more detailed editing parameters than the new SKX Pro model. It doesn't of course offer all the other sounds that are found in the SKX models, but it is not aimed at the same user.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa Год назад

      @@bonnersmusic OK, thanks for your answer 👍
      yes, better than the SKX, but unfortunately from this demo (and all other videos available at the moment) it definitely does not sound better than the SKXPro.
      so I'll try to test it as soon as it arrives in Italy 🙂

    I honestly do not think that the menu system is easy to use. I found XK-4 complicated with many options that I would not need. As a result, I switched to Yamaha YC61. Another important reason for that was that the warranty of Hammond organs in Canada is much worse that what Yamaha offers. I actually like the action of YC61 better than XK-4’s (very good) action.
    The advantage of XK-4 is MIDI connectivity (pedalboard options) and detailed emulation of some Hammond organ features (people got used to).
    I am in a sense more interested in playing classical organ so I used B3 sound not often. I also play piano so YC-61 with good pipe organ VST is better for me.

    Just bought the XK4 and already loving it! I'm using a Yamaha FC7 expression pedal but I can't seem to save the global changes to it, thus whenever I turn it off and then back on, I always have to go into the menu to change them again. Am I missing something?

    • @bonnersmusic
      @bonnersmusic  Год назад +6

      More hands on controls dedicated to adjusting the organ voices, 100% organ (no pianos etc), improved Leslie simulator, much easier to operate due to not being as complex as the SK Pro. There's something about this instrument that just makes you want to keep playing it.
