    This is fantastic. I'm gonna tweak this to use it for member businesses by location within certain regions of a US State. It's gonna take some work but when done will give all the other member businesses the ability to contact other members. I'll restrict the access to logged in members only and hope it will be able to replace our simple pdf printout for all member businesses that members have to print out and then go through over 200 members to find the one they're looking for. Even a few months, the supplier updates an Excel sheet. It would be beneficial to know the Excel sheet could be used to create the initial listing. Great tutorial ... I can see how I can use this for many applications. You mentioned that there are advantages with using the Jet custom field options compared to Advanced Custim Fields. Can you explain those differences? As I get ready to decide which custom field solution to use I want to make the correct choice to start. Later I can add multiple solutions to my technology stack. But I would like to start with the mose flexible and then add other solutions that work better for specific solutions.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  5 лет назад

      The key difference is that JetEngine has greater integration with Elementor and Elementor Pro and that you have a suite of plugins that are all intended to work together. That makes for a more fluid process of development. ACF on the other hand is a far more robust platform at this point in tie, but you would need additional plugins to do some of the things covered in this video.
      For example, the filtering features, which are integral to a site like this, would require third party add-ons that work with CPT and custom Taxonomies to do what is included in the Crocoblock tools.
      I will be doing more videos on ACF and some plugins that I'm testing for front end form submission and filtering, so keep an eye out for that if it helps make your mind up which you feel is the best option for you.

    • @24SevenMarketing
      @24SevenMarketing 5 лет назад

      @@WPTuts thanks for the feedback. As with almost everything with Wordpress there are tradeoffs with choosing any single solution.
      I like what you said about the better integration between Elementor and Jet Engine. But if that comes with more limitations on what you can do it's probably not the pest solution long term for my primary tool set.
      I will look forward to you doing some more in depth tutorials on ACF and the needed set of plugins you mentioned. But I see a need for becoming proficient in both approaches to integrating custom fields with Elementor.
      I still hope to figure out hoe to integrate Wordpress custom fields with database structured data sources (or other structured data sources) so that all the data for a directory style site like in this tutorial can be loaded into the website without having to enter it all manually.

    Again a great job. I started planning out a directory site yesterday, great timing! I have just looked at the Jet Engine/Crocobloc and looks good, might purchase using your link of coarse. One thing though the directory I am planning is UK wide so I would need a solution where the search is done by geolocation/postcode/city as well as category. I think that filtering by location would be too cumbersome because the list would be too long. If Jet Engine cannot do this, can you suggest a solution, please?

    im doing the business directory website right now and have found disadvantages with JetFilters - you can not select AND OR operator.
    for example if you want to filter business types to narrow the search. You want to see businesses that are with category Art and category Design - like One Business with two categories, not two separate businesses falling into the selected category. I need to narrow the search by selecting filters. Cause if you select all categories you will have full list of businesses, as you did not select any of the categories.. make sense?
    It might be not relevant to the example you are building, but in my case I need to have such functionality...

    It looks all good on desktop view. When switching to mobile view, is there any way to better show the filters? Currently, its all at the top of the page, and when you have a list of filters, the user would need to scroll down quite a bit before reaching the content page. Is there a way to say make the filters slide out instead?
    Btw, great video as always Paul.

    It’s one thing to be able to create a website with all these awesome functions, but it’s entirely a different story when it comes to reliability. Would it be reliable enough to handle a large traffic? How effective is the customer support team? When we intend to start a business, we don’t want unprofessional issues being painted on our services.

    • @WPTuts

      You'll have that potential risk no matter what tools you used. With a platform like WordPress and 3rd party plugins you always run a risk of comparability issues.
      That's why you would need to ensure your hosting, backup setup, etc., are all part of your ongoing plan.
      As for support, Crocoblock recently introduced video chat support and that's getting positive feedback in the community.

    This is a great video, but everything works fine for me until 29:09 when I add the "%current_id%" term in the terms section , I get "No data was found", even if I change the settings preview to "Business type archive". I can't use the tutorial after that, because afterwards, I always get the "No data was found" message. I followed twice the tutorial from the very beginning and the same thing happened when I reach that point. What could it possibly be?

      No, it's done through Ajax so no page refresh. You can apply the filters through a submit button instead of Ajax, but not too sure if it displays via the URL I'm afraid.
