- Hyundai Exter vs Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the most important comparison right now. Both cars come under 10 lakhs. Compared to the Baleno, the Fronx has a more SUV-like appearance. It stands taller, has a more noticeable grille, and has bigger wheels. On the other side, the Baleno sports a design that is more hatchback-like. It features a more streamlined silhouette and subtle appearance.
Performance and engine
A 1.0-liter petrol turbocharged engine that generates 110 horsepower and 170 Newton-meters of torque powers the Fronx. A 1.2-liter petrol engine with naturally aspirated combustion powers the Baleno and generates 83 horsepower and 113 Newton-meters of torque.
The Fronx performs slightly better than the competition. Compared to the Baleno's 12.3 seconds, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 10.5 seconds. The Baleno, however, uses less fuel. Compared to the Fronx's 20 kilometres per litre, it offers a fuel efficiency of 22 kilometres per litre.
Price
The Fronx costs a bit more than the Baleno. The Fronx has a beginning price of 8.75 lakhs, compared to the Baleno's starting price of 7.99 lakhs.

Thanks for the comparison… I have booked Exter and Fronx … but finally went with Fronx and got it delivered this week . The decision was based on the sense of space as u said , Mileage , external design and Engine 🙂😎

For big cities car parking is an issue and I personally prefer smaller car for Mumbai..
So exter is a better choice I feel for me.

Sunroof shouldn't be considered a feature, rather a gimmick and a risky liability. Hyundai forces it on the decently specced version of Exter the SX. It should have been given as an option like in Punch. Prudent vfm car buyers will resist this senseless urge and go for a lower variant of Exter which is big compromise, or go for Fronx or Punch.
Sir, correct sunroof is not a feature and essential for city use.

Comparing the AMT to AMT version of both,
Exter pros:
AMT is significantly smoother. The front driver seat is more comfortable. Music sounds better. Very smooth and cushion'ed ride in the city over bumps. More comfortable for long drive for the driver and front passenger. Bluelink connect features. Dashcam. SOS button on the rear view mirror. Really a feature packed car !
Exter cons:
Stability is not as good. Definitely not for high speed driving. Back seat can be uncomfortable for some. Ride can be a little too bouncy sometimes.
Fronx pros:
More stable and tighter handling. Good service and parts availability.
Fronx cons:
AMT is not as good. Seats don't have adequate back support. Music sounds boring. Interior looks basic. Not very inspiring.
Exter SX value for money
You skipped comparison of AMT's shift quality and behaviour in both the cars.

If you want features then go for exter
If you want mileage and spacious car then go for fronx
There is good headroom and legroom in the exter but fronx is only made for those, whose height is between 5' feet to 5'5'', There is no headroom in the back seat at all
U just cannot compare Exter to Fronx.. As u rightly pointed out, for the price of Fronx Delta Plus AMT (Bare Bones Car), one can buy Exter SX AMT DT. And if you are willing to shell out Rs. 3-4 lacs more, for higher end Fronx, then compare it with the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue... Request you to compare apples with apples and not oranges.

so basically I am looking for a soft suspension car like exter to drive in the city. I am looking for soft suspension, car options. But it is very difficult to find videos that only talk about suspensions and the competitive cars. I am looking for car below 10L hatchback or micro SUV with soft suspension set up. So the city rides feel comfortable.
Highway driving is not the main aim as the main aim is city driving and need extreme comfort in city driving.

Very Good comparison. You are right Fronx is the better looking of the two and has more finesse but I wish Maruti would make more Highway secure cars.
Been Driving Hyundai Exter AMT now for 2 months now.. So mileage real time 18.5 km/l in Highway, 13.5 km/h in city , i had booked both Exter n AMT but found Fronx engine very noisy so I dont know NVH me how Fronx is better than Exter, Exter is a better choice.

When we say Fronx is more spacious, we are not considering headspace which is very poor in Fronx. Any tall person will we touching roof because of taper design at the back which also reduces the rear visibility.
Exter is an SUVish version of i10 nios as the engine and space is just the same. Just like Fronx is basically an SUV version of Baleno.

If you ask me, that is, my individual opinion - Fronx has better fuel efficiency, better space, seems to look a lot like a rejected design for the Lamborghini Urus (that's actually a compliment!) and finally, better after sales service experience.
The cons I see are stiff suspensions and a higher chance of assholes honking from behind for stopping to get up or out of it (it is a wide car, after all).
I would still buy the Fronx - plus Nexa is just a 15-minute walk away from my place!😅
I should forget about buying a bike and save up for a Fronx instead.

Fronx is better in space so if you will be traveling mostly with 5 people take fronx, for rverything else exter is better. Exter has more feelgood factors and its automatic is way ahead than fronx.

Fronx me 10 lakh dene pe rear camera bhi nahi milta. No height adjustment for driver seat. Instrument cluster bhi fully digital nahi hai.

Most of them are liking exter than Fronx. I didn't understand how Fronx impressed you more than exter.
If you compare it with the XUV300 or Nexon then I will expect exter car is not good to buy. But this verdict is not acceptable for me.
I guess you are not the one buying a car at this moment. Please do a test drive if both and you too will see why fronx is better. Safety wise sure work needs to be done but you will still enjoy fronx drivablity and services from the dealership

I didn't like the Fronx and punch that much. Fronx AMT starting price will cost 11.80 lacs as Exter mid variant around 10.45 SX AMT.
Fronx head room is not good for 5.7feet person. Instead of buying Fronx they can buy Baleno only.
If most of them are liking exter over fronx, then why is fronx selling 4000 units more than exter every month?
Exter in suspension problem
Exter can't be compared with Fronx. Mileage and body frames are way better than Exter in Fronx. Obviously service cost is also way cheaper in Maruti. Hyundai charges 5500 for santro and for exter it might charge 7000/-
