Truly noble soul ! No DNA test required to prove that real blue blood runs through his veins. All over India school / college children should be made to listen to him so that they will learn to think/live at a higher level ....So happy to know that Souls like him still walk this earth❤
I have taught mostly in the USA and a little bit in India. Never come across a wonderful speech like this. When he sang beautifully the Kannada joke, "Nee Dappa, Nina appa dappa....", I thought he was addressing me. There are no words to describe the amazing power of the Indian classical music. His humility and appreciation of all the people irrespective of their religion, country, language, and color is music to ears. Our students need these kinds of inspiring speakers. Purandaradasa is my favorite poet also.
Jaisreekrishna iam 84 years old just listen ing your beautiful timely good message to the young ster . Thank you & God bless you long life to guide the younger genaration
You have spoken like a true good person oka Royal family - I mean though you are from - - a high class living - thinking of humanity is great sir 🙏Jaya
Really nice to have brought details of Sri Purandara dasaru, doyen of Carnatic music..prince is humble as always, with his richness and royal lifestyle he could have led flamboyant lifestyle.. But he is down to earth person and has dedicated his life to music and it's propogation. Kudos..
Tampuranu namaskaram😂❤ u.r.the prince of love dedication compassion and clear thinking.love for fellow men is in your royalblood.you are a blessing to us from the universe.very classy soul indeed🥰❤🎉
A prince giving A down to earth speech and experience no narcism no ego we are fortunate to see the young genius on podium And invocation of HARI OMIS REALLY SHOWS RESPECT AND HIS PRODIGY
Beautiful talk by the great Vidwan. I am always amazed by his humility, humour, honesty and his in depth knowledge of any form of music. Carnatic music fraternity needs more such people with utmost professionalism. As he mentions aptly, ego runs very high in these circles , despite singing divine compositions, that is the most commonly seen feature among musicians.
Simple, down to earth, "nuggets of wisdom" from the prince. Wish institutions have these kind of interactive discourses regularly. Adds value to character building of the young growing minds .
🙏Prince Rama Varmagaru - nice talk on music Sir - I have seen sound of music in my High school time & heard Baiju bhavra when I was a child - I’m honoured that I got to listen to you - from a Royal family & you r saying - make humanity your religion is such a good one to follow 🙏- jaya
Sir It is really a very knowledgeable, thought provoking talk. It is great to see how you have blended Royalty into Music, leading to bhakti and jnana and finally trying to realise our creator. No doubt that you are protected and blessed by the Almighty due to good samskara.
He was always the humble representative from the Royal family of Travancore just like Sri Bala Rama Varma Chitihira Thirunal, the last reigning Maharaja of Travancore... while studying in Mar-Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). A very wise and gentle being from the most righteous among all the Royals in Bharat... This family started reforming agriculture, education, health and public utilities in erstwhile Travancore which is now the central to southernmost part of present day Kerala from the turn of early 19th Century... The real reason for all the progress made by the state of Kerala which was a welfare state even during those times...
Pranams, An excellent speech for youngsters, the future influencers of grassroot workers/common man. As an ordinary music lover I feel that it is the best medicine for any problems, especially classical music of any language. I'm a Mumbai settled Malayalee, I'm ashamed that I do not know to write Malayalam (mother tongue) but can fluently speak and read. Similar is the case in local language Marathi. I studied in Hindi/English medium. Unfortunately not fluent in any language, which is also frustrating as one cannot express as one wants to and also the listener misunderstands. Also different cultures is confusing too. A son of soldier who stayed in different parts of India, neither Keralite Or Maharashtrian, but definitely an Indian. I was not bothered about religion, caste, region etc. until school. Later on getting employment the discrimination was understood. As you rightly said we should have unity and humanity should be the only primary basis. Unfortunately what I have observed in Kerala is that beef eating is considered secular, Hindu traditions are made fun of, even scriptures are portrayed as false by Hindu intellectuals, novelists, poets etc. Hence most of young generation are misled and are averse to Hindu culture. If Muslim League and other religion based parties then why not RSS? All should co-exist. Hope you can give similar speeches in Kerala's prominent professional colleges. Regards, God bless
Excellent speech. Inspiration to young students. I am sure the message in the concluding part was not just for the students of IIT BHU Varanasi, but to the entire student fraternity across the globe. Thanks to the organisers especially Shri V Ramanathan for such an event in front of the freshers.
Absolute pleasure to listen to you speak dear Rama Sir as it is to listen to you sing. A wonderful message conveyed in your inimitable style indeed. Warm Regards, Sandhya Venkatachalam from Bangalore.
Princeji, You rocked at the IIT campus. As usual you highlighted the importance of arts and music in everybody's life and the universality of it to unite people, culture, and nations.🙏🙏🙏👋👋👋
A remarkable speech full of insights into human nature and marked by a great sense of self-effacing humor. Gently, yet with conviction, Vidwan Rama Varma nudged the students to develop a healthy sense of individuality, cautioned them against nurturing divisions based on caste, religion etc. and urged them to use their intelligence for the lasting good of this planet rather than fall a prey to the rampant consumerism that is causing so much environmental degradation. Kudos to IIT BHU for organizing such an event. And what a generously enthusiastic response from the student audience!! Great show!!!
Such an intellectually stimulating dialogue for students , a much needed break or rather a must for our youth these days who don’t find time beyond books , for their all round development.
Mastery over 7 notes makes one create something so profound from an abstract palllette . Similarly if youth listens carefully to your lecture learns that as per your own mind and heart expertise you can be original and excel in life . 🌸
Namaskarams 🙏🙏🙏 This is so beautiful.... touched my very being in every possible way. Every word uttered is so relevant and will remain so long after we are all gone. Every word came from the heart and each one so relatable. My Humble Pranaams 🙏🙏🙏
We made a film with Girish Karnad called “Kanaka Purandhara “ as art designers and costume designers . Like we did for UTSAV And it’s truely heartening to get such a beautiful remembetance from you . 🙏
IIT may consider producing lecture talks on music in partnership with Prince Rama Varma ,by using technology and have these made into a course material for use in our colleges to sensitize our youth and help appreciate music ,and also our rich future . These may be part of curriculum as non core subject of study.
This guy, Shri Rama Varma, is an eclectic guy in his outlook and values. I call him a “guy” only out of my respect and love for him. I have interacted with him in Pittsburgh whe he stayed with his friend Bhanu Pandalai. Kollengode S Venkataraman
World and more so India has a few things to learn from this gentleman. But I am disappointed with the quality of video and the stage set up by a prestigious institute IIT. Quite unbecoming of the organisers to settle down with mediocre quality. Please watch the videos of Berklee and try to benchmark such quality please.
Can some one inform what is the RUclips channel of Prince Varma ji where he uploads his video recordings ? Listening to his renditions are enchanting but also enriches us as he introduces the composition , and takes us to a higher level to appreciate. Thank you BHU IIT for hosting this You
There's a Hindi movie Parichay starring Jitendra where he does a very similar role as in "Sound of Music". There's a famous song "Sa Re ke Sa Re Ga Ma ko lekar Gaate chale". Wonder how many people in the audience would know the movie or definitely the song. Most probably a lot of people.
I am just 92 years. Prince Rama varma is humility personified. The speech is magnificent. The students have so much to learn and put them in practice.
Who says you are a prince rather you are the King of kings. Really blessed. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Truly noble soul ! No DNA test required to prove that real blue blood runs through his veins. All over India school / college children should be made to listen to him so that they will learn to think/live at a higher level ....So happy to know that Souls like him still walk this earth❤

All this talk of humanity & unity beyond religion is good IF followed by everyone. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Great
👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Pity that the new gen techys are ignorant of Indian music!
Can some one inform what is the RUclips channel of Prince Varma ji where he uploads his video recordings ? Listening to his renditions are enchanting but also enriches us as he introduces the composition , and takes us to a higher level to appreciate. Thank you BHU IIT for hosting this
You
It is this channel. Musiquebox
Wonderful address. Just wish they had desisted from referring to him as 'His Highness' - we'll soon be a century after the abolition of monarchy.
❤🙏
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Very sad no one has seen sound of music... people even in America watch it every year
There's a Hindi movie Parichay starring Jitendra where he does a very similar role as in "Sound of Music". There's a famous song "Sa Re ke Sa Re Ga Ma ko lekar Gaate chale".
Wonder how many people in the audience would know the movie or definitely the song. Most probably a lot of people.
Yes. I was, in fact, shocked only one in such a big audience had seen Sound of Music!
It shows the exposure of youth to experiences by parents and Schools
I'm 61 years old. A pass out from BHU IT.
I've seen the Sound of music at least 25 times. My all time favorite movie.
🙏🙏
