Slide room stuck? Don’t panic just yet!

You’ll see here that this slide room is being held hostage by a simple safety switch. I like to let you guys walk through a diagnosis with me, and see my thought process. Here you can see I used not just prior knowledge, but a little out of the box thinking as well. Instead of just tearing into everything and checking power etc. I took a step back and made a few educated guesses first. All the other slides opened so it was safe to assume I have good voltage and the ignition interlock was working properly. I heard no sound from the motors so I ruled out the room being jammed or stuck. When extending the room I could hear the motors click, so I knew it was only a retract issue. At that point, I knew their was a pretty good chance it was something simple. Because I’ve dealt with this issue many times before I went straight for the bed lift safety switch, a very common reason for a bed slide to not retract. This particular situation the switch position needed adjustment, but these switches do go out as well. In that case if you needed to close up and get to service, you can simply lift the bed completely and bypass the switch. This is done by removing the 2 wires form the switch and attaching the spade terminals to a fuse instead of the switch. This will mimic a closed switch and allow the room to close.

I have the BAL accu slide cable system. Hopefully you can make some videos on cable, motor and gearbox repairs and replacements.

Hi, do you have any experience with the Lippert fast track slide system. Reading up on it, the company just said to keep the slide and cables clean. I've also read some people lubricate the sides and bttm of the slide and the cables. What do you recommend.
