They gave us HALF a MILLION to build a bike park

- We've finally slapped together some footage from this build.
We went up against all of the major trail construction teams in Australia to win the tender for this job, after months of preparation in the office, we won the job and construction started in late 2021.
The goal was to design and construct a small mountain bike park in a local reserve, including an asphalt pump track, a set of dirt jumps, mountain bike trails and a walking path around the perimeter.
Enjoy the video, we'll probably never do job like this again, but we are super proud of what we created. Thank you to everyone involved. Спорт
art, pure art
Thankyou! Full creative freedom on this one was awesome
you lot were very generous with this build. such a great addition! and to think they only paid you guys half a million and you delivered this.
We know how generous we were, but at the time it was our first big council job, we had to show what we are capable of.
Contractors only Took 50k a hour. IDK how they lived on that sorta money tbh. Lucky if they didn't end up homeless tbh.
'Only half a million'. Just sounds funny when you say it out loud with no context.
if contractors don't take it, council members just buy them selves more "work" Utes.
@@G-G._ nah they would increase their own salary then say they got no more money and need to charge extra for garbage collection, looking at you yarra concil
This is amazing. I've never seen a bike course/park paved before. I don't ride, but looks hellafun for RC as well.
Wowsers! Excellent build my brothers!!
incredible job guys! well done!
Love from canada!
I will sure visit when I get to Tasmania!! Looks awesome!
Looks so sick! Mint job boys
Cheers legend
That looks epic lads!!! Nice work
Beautifully Built ..Top Notch

Thanks legend! We’re slow at it but we’ll try and keep them coming haha
Super cool! If I ever hit the lottery, all this.
absolutely sick job, will have to visit!
NIce build guys!
everything about this video is perfect
Sick build, Sick video...
Ayo you fellas did a sick job
Mad respect 🤙
Man would love if something like that was built in the eastern suburbs of VIC, looks awesome. Feel like there arn't enough places for australian riders to progress, always jealous of the bike parks I see in the UK.
Bike videos always have the coolest soundtracks. 😊
Hell yeah
Brisbane needs one of these! Looks sick!
Brisbane let’s go! We live up on the Sunshine Coast now
What a delightful video im definitely gonna move some dirt today after watching this
Thanks mate! Go get it 🤘🏻
Every town/city needs this
100%

Thanks 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Damn that looks like fun!
So fun 👌🏻

2:50 most fabulous guy at the park 💃💃
😮❤ that looks amazing
Thanks mate
That is amazing 👌🏻
a thing of beauty
Gee that's so bloody nice. Well done. Please tell me you are doing the pump track at Rathmines NSW ? 🤞🤞
wow you guys do it right!
Looks sick boys, even the scooter trash can vet down🤣
yo boys! you gotta come to tassie and fix the trails with your magic!
so rad! you boys need to hit up Fox Creek bike park in adelaide, im sure they would be keen
That looks awesome. Shame you didn't build our local new bike tracks... The Manchester council blew a million on a small pump track and two half-useable table top jumps.
Ahh that’s so sad to hear! Sucks when councils choose the wrong people.
yep it's disgusting... that money didn't "go to a pump track and some table tops" it was spent on other things no one will ever know about, probably stuff on the black market. the accountants are pretty good at geting rid of the evidence...
Respect
Dam that place looks amazing! Awesome build guys. Where is it?
Burnie, Tasmania
🔥 🤘
Wow. Very good. How long did the build take? Looks like a massive project!
It was about 6 months work! But we only had the 2 of us for most of the job.
this video is lowkey therapeutic
Looks amazing boys where next?
Sunshine Coast motocross tracks
Badass
that wrapped CAT looks sick! Have many projects to actually take advantage of it?
Yeah we used it heaps, a good friend of ours owned the machine so it stayed wrapped for ages!
West Maui needs a bike park
Every town needs a bike park
the music fits so well
Thanks bro!
🙌🏼
sick
🤘
Imagine what you could do on that with a BMX bike!!!
Blows my mind how people can figure out how to build ramps and jumps that just work. Must be a lot of physics and math involved?
A lot of years riding bikes and building trails to understand the physics. It’s all done by feel.
noooooo please build one in Sydney im begging you
Where is this bike park it looks mint.
EPIC !
❤
thats fire🔥 were is this located i want to go?
Where in Scotland is this place? I'm gonna take a drive there this weekend.
😂 you’ll be driving for a while
I wish they would do this in my erea
Too bad you couldn't make a long tall ramp from the hillside to drop-in on some of the bowls. (but dudes will be making their own trails to make up for it..)
Epic!
8:10 Whats going on with them dirt take offs, with the holes at the top of the lips?
The jumps were trashed by a group of PCYC kids and their instructor, dragging a giant piece of rope across the top of the jumps as a team building exercise. Smart.
So sic fella's. Wish they had something like that when we were growing up getting into trouble for digging dirt jumps in almost anywhere. We'd have to go hide in bush where nobody could see us. Same as dirtbike trails along coast(wa), they would say we are causing erosion and endangering local animals then years later they'd come in and level whole lot for housing and road's. Who's damaging environment? Not us rider's. Locals will love the work you've done to construct such a awesome riding area. Avagud1
where is it?
That’s in Burnie Tasmania
Wow you made that money go a long way, council would have said 2mill ready in 3 years
That’s what happens when you choose a small local contractor VS a nation wide mega company! Councils (and the riders) are getting screwed paying mega dollars to cover the overheads of bigger companies.
Where do I send my application>?
Must have spent a lot on acquiring the land
so it's just a thin layer of gravel with a thin layer of asphalt over the top? won't that crack?
It’s clay base, then roughly 150mm of 40mm silica based gravel, then another 150mm of 20mm gravel, then 40mm thick of asphalt. You might get a crack here and there over time but if the compaction is done right, and with only foot and bike traffic it lasts really well.
Anyone know the name of the first song?
Ehere is this? It looks really sick!
Tasmania, Australia
Half a million😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They gave us half a million, we spent 75k
The bill for asphalt alone was $75k
@@RideMoreYT I was only joking dude
Instead of using an excavator to load an end dump that moves the dirt 100 feet, and paying for an operator, driver, and two pieces of equipment, you could increase production by just using a front end loader to move the dirt and then you're paying for only 1 operator and 1 piece of equipment
You are correct, but when you’ve only got around a truckload of dirt to move, the cost of paying for a front end loader to be delivered to the site, used for a day, and then trucked out again, would be a massive waste of cash!
@@RideMoreYT word
You made $500,000 stretch a long way, people don't understand the cost of materials is not as cheap as they think. Just look at the cost of just building a parking lot and you will have a better understanding. Dirt also is not as cheap as you would think .
Cheers! We know exactly how far we made that cash stretch, it’s hilarious seeing all the comments from people who’ve likely never picked up a shovel, let alone rented a 20 ton excavator.
6:00 ur clearly a good rider. you look so comfortable on there. The tarmac always makes me pussy out from doing that kinda stuff cause I know falling on there is gonna hurt like a bitch
sso im sure $ has alot to deal with it but i feel like concrete would have been way better but still very cool
Yeah concrete pretty much quadruples the cost of sealing a surface.
where is this?
Burnie, Tasmania
Ngl love the builds but seriously could only watch half of it... That song jeeez dude...
😂 sick bro
That’s $500 grand gets ya? Crazy
They got heaps for their cash aye
Where is it.
Burnie, Tasmania
where??
Burnie, Tasmania.
People always build jumps better than the goverment
Totally, just let riders build it
With that type of budget why did you guys use asphalt instead of concrete? Great work and all, but I don't see $500,000 worth of work and materials there.... I know u guys had to make some money too but damn.... or was it only ½ a million Australian dollars?
Or did that include the cost of property too...
why the one guy always looking like he about to cry.
My towns claimed budget was ball park 2 million and the "Bike Park" isn't even a quarter as good as this.
Wrong people doing the job, man I could take 2 mil a long way! Councils don’t understand, they want the flashy multi national company to build their tracks because it sounds good on paper, then pay an absolute premium for it and are left with an average result.
Meanwhile our community wont give 1000€😂
Half a million for just a pump track.
Pump track, dirt jumps, a few km of flow trails, and a walking path around the park.
if thats $500,000 for that i'd want a refund
Cool man
@RideMore yeah real cool..someone pocketed a lot of change
where is it?
