For those of you wondering
The S63 is the quickest S Class from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) because of 4WD and the S65 is the fastest S Class with a 202 mph (325 km/h) top speed after being delimited through aftermarket mods.
S63 AMG is the performance version of the S550 and has a V8 engine and is 4WD
S65 AMG is the performance version of the S600 and has a V12 with RWD only
S550 Maybach is the more luxurious version of the S550 with more rear seat biased comfort
S600 Maybach is the more luxurious version of the S600 with more rear seat biased comfort
S63 exists in both RWD and AWD, fitting the driving enthusiasts as well as those seeking more of a GT experience.

but i wonder why does the S65 not use the 4WD if it's the highest variant of S Class, why does it use RWD instead?

I have an 08 S65 and after owning 3 e60 m5s I gotta say this car is absolutely astonishing. So powerful and yet so smooth, not as fun as the m5, but it is faster and is much better quality. The interior is still immaculate 9 years later, the m5s always had the steering wheel peel and the damn seals on the windshield and sunroof would crack and leak.
I cannot even afford it's fuel...

Guys let's keep in mind here that this has a higher base price than a new base Maybach
But this is 1 second faster from 0 to 100km/h and if you remove the speed limiter through a third part modder, the top speed is 328 km/h which is more than that of a DB11

*this is why I like the S65 because you can take the badges off and look like a C class or normal S550, when u buy Bentley or rolls Royce, you remove the badge it still looks expensive, the S65 with badges off is good if u want good performance comfort and no attention*

S65 amg with upgraded turbos, intercooler, meth and/or e85 flex and tune. Dream car right there.
Why wouldn't you get a Mercedes Maybach instead?
It's pretty much the same car, even the same engine (if you choose the V12). But really only the back seat passenger benefit from the Maybach upgrade. They car is way heavier and does not drive as nice.
Conor 64 probably yes, but to get a V12 in a Maybach you have to get a S600, with the AMG you can get a V12 in the S550 body.

Conor 64 a maybach is for people that are gonna sit in the back. It's not worth the premium if you're not using a chauffeur
The Maybach owners are up another rung in life, they have a chauffeur for all their 4 door vehicles, only driving the 2-doors cars themselves.
Such a beautiful car. In 2006, I ordered a W221 and I was the first one in Utah to get the S65 in the new model and I thought I was on top of the world. Then the market crashed in 2008 and I had a nice slice of humble pie haha. It was an unreal car and I miss it so much. One of these days, I'll have another. ... Good job on the review.

you tubers, my best advice to get an older amg.
$237,000 isn't really that bad if you think of it in terms of its competitors like the Bentley Continental. I think they should've stopped at 63 though, since if you are getting to that level of the 65 the want for the S class would go down and people would resort to more prestigious companies. Theres also the fact that you drive an S65 but theres also a shit ton of s550s that look almost identical for less than 100k

Definitely not
You can get most of the options he described on a regular S class. Fridge, rear console w tables, rear shades and others. Just not the V12 or the chrome inlets in the front.
The S63 is quicker than the S65 lmao and it's so much cheaper.
Definitely it will in 4 to 5 years. As a Mercedes fan I can't wait to buy one when they're around 70k.

Other than a bigger performance engine there's virtually no difference between this and a top range or fully loaded s550. You are even better off with the S 600 Maybach cause of the executive style seats for two at the rear. THIS Amg variant in my opinion is too expensive and doesn't make sense when u can get an s550 with almost all the features in this excluding the engine and leather headliner.
You don't get the lightness in the maybach, nor do you get the engine noise. This has a top speed of 328 km/h (204mph) if you delimit it, which is more than that of most porsche 911's, lamborghini huracan, audi r8

Hmm, s65 is another class from m760i. I know the bmw also has a v12 but the class is little lower than the s65. I would compare m760i to s63 tho. And s63 would come out to be better.

I am actually undecided between at S63 and a S65, because the S65 is not as AWD available. I am traditionally a huge V12 fan since years, but a AWD is really a asset if you live in central Europe where you have to handle some snow in the winter months.

The Bentley Flying Spur is just an overpriced Volkswagen compared to the S65. The Bentley Mulsanne is worth the high price, but under $300,000? I would definitely go Mercedes-AMG S65 over the BMW 7-Series derived Rolls-Royce Ghost or Volkswagen Phaeton derived Bentley Flying Spur.

+Salt Bae cheaper doesn't mean worse. Merc S class is the best car in the world without doubt and you can check any and all car magazines or car reviewers and none of them will dare say otherwise. If you are not considering cars holistically and looking at them in a point of view only pertaining to luxury, the Phantom is definitely the best luxury car and even I admit that even though I am a Merc collector. Also, I doubt you've ridden in a ghost. Ghost's ride quality can't be compared to that of the S class. The S class outshines the ghost. Even a Bentley Continental S model has smoother ride than the ghost but the Phantom has the best ride quality.
I'm looking for a '07 or '08 S65 but good luck to me trying to find one in my province let alone all of Canada. Absolutely brilliant cars until you have to repair them but hey, that's a gamble that I'm willing to take.
