I just got myself a lower-end, new Mercedes (everything is "lower-end" compared to the S65) and it has a similarly high tech interior and I feel like it has already spoiled me from older models. A V12 S-class is definitely in my future. Maybe I will get brave and get one with some repairable damage like @Tavarish!

As the owner of a 2012 S63, I agree with you that these S classes are amazing cars. Having a V8 instead of a V12 may be a step down, but honestly, the exhaust note on the V8, I think is better. I also like the rear end of the W221 better than the W222. Somewhere between 2007 and 2012, they did switch to a 7 speed automatic and it is butter smooth unless you really get on it. Flooring my car is almost scary, it's that fast. Thanks for the video and I hope you have a successful sale experience with the S600.

I was researching what the maintenance would really be like to maintain one of these examples and came across the content being upfront about costs. Almost 4 years later, and many of thousands for me, it is great to see the content still drawing fans. Can't wait to see what this one fetches when sold.

Mercedes has shifted its view on the s-class, the older ones are more suited to the passenger, as opposed to newer ones, which are more driver-oriented, especially the w223
If I was offered either of these beauties for free, I'd take the older one. IDK why but it has an air of timelessness about it. Sure a few more years down the line it would look dated but I just am hooked on it.

One thing to remember the more fancier things the more things that can break. I have an CL55 & an E63-S. The E63-S is a nicer car & a lot more fancier but I just see all the stuff that can go wrong over time that will be expensive to fix. Build quality wise I think the CL55 is a more solid car. The windows are 2 to 3 times thicker than the E63-S so it seems quieter in the car. The E63-S looks nicer but feels cheaper. Like not as solid if you get what I'm saying. Like he said the CL55's 5 speed transmission feels horrible compared to the E63-S 7 speed. To sum it up, I like the E63-S more but I don't hate the CL55 either. Both are great cars though.
When I was 18 my buddy came and picked me up to cruze the strip in his dads 1994 S600 V12. We had ppl in Porsches, Navigators on 22s, and all sorts of tuner cars drooling at the car almost getting in wrecks. I was in the back pointing at the V12 symbol on the door pillar. It was a 2 door Gold car with black and chrome interior. Soo nice. Nobody wanted to race between lights tho 🤔😂
The night vision sensor is not in the mirror as you said, the radar is in the grill. I bought my S Class Coupé new so know. Mine is always garage kept and the AMG tag is just that. If you did not have an AMG, it with have the designo tag, nothing different except where the quilting is. On the Designo the quilting in the middle, of the seat, the AMG are on the side. If you had an AMG without the exclusive passion nappa interior, you would not have quilting.
Those who don't understand the S-Class upgrade do not understand S-Class ownership. It's kind of like an iPhone, you're in the stone age if you still have the last major refresh version. They pack so much new stuff into each generation.
Interesting how the W222 is different but not objectively better than the W222. With the current used car market being what it is prices on S65's are also up so Tavarish's experience getting it for "used "SUV money", sadly, doesn't apply to folks shopping today. Regardless, you can never go wrong with a well-cared-for/sorted S-Class.

If u want to clean that cupholder try some degreeser, let it sit for 5min, and shop vac it out. Just did that to clean the cupholder on my clk 55 cabrio and it worked like a charm.

Hi Freddy, love the car. My parents have a AMG line 2020 Mercedes S560 4 matic, I can confidently say it is one of the best interiors I've have seen in car, and its just so dang comfortable to drive. My car has a derived AMG V8, not a full on one, but it is still super quick, and the power delivery is smooth. My dad and mom are the ones who mainly drive it, and they absolutely love it. So overall, the S class will always be my favorite car. I am going to see the next car trek episodes now!
C Class doesn’t have the reflectors in the back bumper, E class has them in the middle between the rear lights and the exhaust tips. S class has them right above the exhaust tips. Thats how u tell the difference from the back and s class has longer rear lights.
You should check out a fully specked LS500 Fsport, it’s only a 5.0 N/A V8 and I’m not sure if it has that rear 1st glass seats but it’s still a gorgeous and luxurious car
Freddy just on the V12 note: Mercedes stopped making V12 engines and according to my Internal Mercedes corporate sources they will never comeback to building V12 at least in the near future and most of naturally aspirated engines are soon to be gone as well since we’re going into electrical hybrid era.

Get the ceramic tint done on the windshield. You won't have that problem with the dash anymore. I'm in the California desert, I don't have that problem with any of my cars.
The best thing about those hand-built AMG engines is that you know who to hunt down and make fix when something breaks. If I were an AMG engine assembler I would definitely put an alias.
The PCMCIA slot needs an adaptor to accept SD cards. It will play most media (not video, I think) like MP3's and so on. The max card size is 8GB. I have one sitting here unused I can send to Rex when he gets the car, if he wants it. Let me know.

My 2016 S550 was a bargain when I bought it 2 years ago at 60K ... less than half or MSRP. I just turned 35K and it's ... as many have said .. probably the best full sized sedan in existence.
For the money, I'd take the old car for two reasons. 1) On the interior of a car, wood is FAR nicer than strips of carbon fiber. I just don't get why everyone always gets so excited every time they see a piece of carbon fiber. It's just plasticky looking stuff with a cross-hatch pattern. Big deal. I can understand when body panels are made from carbon fiber, because of the huge advantage you get with the weight savings. As an interior decoration, however, it doesn't excite me at all. Wood, like you get on the older car, is way better. 2) Simply put, black wheels are a deal breaker. Black wheels on a white car are about as ugly as anything I've ever seen in the automotive world. From an aesthetic standpoint, Rosie O'Donnell is more attractive than black wheels on a white car, or really on a car of any color for that matter. U.G.L.Y.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the W221, rear city light and brakes light are led. On the W222, you can put a trunk spoiler to have a nicer look

So replace the headlights on the s600 with more modern versions and keep it. Sell the s65 for big profit 👍

2) Simply put, black wheels are a deal breaker. Black wheels on a white car are about as ugly as anything I've ever seen in the automotive world.
