Allow me to tell all you people posting unsympathetic comments. A stroke is a devastating event in anyone's life. You have no idea what happens to a brain before, during, & after a stoke. One has no control whatsoever over their behaviour, thoughts or actions. I know this because l have had 4 strokes ~ sand thank the Lord l have recovered from all of them. Apparently, after the 2nd one( the 1st was many years prior) l was desperately trying to tell my family that l wasn't drunk.l could see the shock on their faces, but didn't realise that it was because of my facial appearance. I thought they were believing l was drunk. My speech was totally slurred, l couldn't control my movements, and my head felt like it was a soccer-ball that had been used in a World Cup Final. My granddaughter still tells me my face was completely twisted out of shape and l sounded completely drunk. I spent a great deal of time in hospital ~ but l have no memory of what l went through there. I suffered the 3rd stroke in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, and the 4th while l was still there. Thank the Lord I had just enough sanity to phone a friend whose phone number was the only one l could remember, and she notified my family & the ambulance service ~ all of which arrived in a very short space of time, so l had all the help required immediately. This was my saving Grace, I don't know where l would be today, if not for the wonderful treatment and support l received that day. Instead of being so awfully judgemental and condemning, try being a bit more understanding. You have no idea whatsoever how much a helping hand can do to someone in the grip of a stroke. THE ONE WHO NEEDS THE HELP COULD BE YOU YOURSELF. GOD HELP YOU IF SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP JUST STANDS AND LAUGHS AT YOU INSTEAD.
