I prefer the 2005 reunion version.
I haven’t listened to Clapton since his first solo album and the Blind Faith record, although that all-blues album From the Cradle had some nice stuff. He bores me today but that certainly was not the case before 1972.

Hasn't got it anymore for touring! Couldn't play a gig in Dublin. Support act Andy did 1.5hrs, he did 45 mins. No cream material, only classic was tears in heaven. Didnt even thank the crowd. Only thing he said in the mic was good night. He'd wanna get sobar

Horse minuare. Why let a support act do 1 hr 30 mins. People are bored and feeling ripped off. 20 mins into him going on he's an Irish artist on playing a whistle, and strumming chords with no inversions to tears in heaven - with an arena full of people wanting to see a guitarist. Sad state of affairs. Irish people not happy at all. Made the news
That happened to me 20 years ago. I went to see Eric Clapton & Friends. It was all friends (ZZ Top, etc.). I wasn't interested in them. I wanted to listen to Clapton. He was only in his 50s then.
Thats brutal. Not singing the chorus, strumming the chords. I cover it live doing the wah wah parts myself. Like you pay to hear him do it right. Fucks up the start of the solo, doesnt even get the wah wah pedal on in time OMG and then ends too early @mikem2146 entertainment value is very low because he was such a legend. There's a phrase walk away whilst your at the top. Maybe he should consider it, or adopt his set
Why past his best like McCartney? Fantastic when they were fantastic but just give it up.

His "brand new manufactured on purpose" DEI band you say??? Hmmm. Ok. Chris Stainton has been on the keys for Eric since 1979.Katie Kissoon on backing vocals since 1986. Nathan East has also been his bassist since 1986. Andy Fairweather Low on 2nd guitar since 1992. Shar White on backing vocals since 2004. Paul Carrack, also on keys, has played with Eric since 2013 and "new boy" Sonny Emory his drummer since 2018. But, hey, let's not allow the facts to get in the way of a good troll eh??? Haha!
All part of the same first wave of Affirmative Action which was in the early 80's that also gave us the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Elizabeth Warren, Mazie Horono, Sheila Jackson Lee ... To name a few. Eric made most of his hay in the years prior w/o them. The truth is he sold right out to the AA thing back then and has made no bones about doing it either.
Sorry if that doesn't jive with your facts but I lived it all and saw his whole career and he didn't have all these black people in his bands when he was making all those hits.@@jp7963
