Thanks. Not only am I learning about Artists on this channel but also about galleries. The Gagosian is now on my goto list. There are many such 'free' galleries in this upmarket part of London and it makes me wonder how they manage to keep them open.
Thank you for watching. The Gagosian is one my favourite spaces - a new vlog from there is coming. Watch this space! The galleries, such as the Gagosian, represent a large roster of artists and are international businesses, often with galleries in multiple cities - the actual physical gallery spaces are more and more like publicity showcases than places to sell works. It's a a bonus for us art lovers and they are always quite welcoming.
Great content - amazing paintings, I like how you present it with music background (without dialogue) gives the viewer a chance to take in the paintings - which were great
Is the work at 4:50 thickly painted? Did he depart from the transparent wash in that one. The brush work within the grid units is something to think about. I just saw the last works by Chuck Close a month ago as well as a large Jennifer Bartlett from the mid 80’s. We painters have been banging our heads against this particular wall (or turning away from it for 100 years)
I am a fan of his work. For me it’s always hit and miss with his work. I feel the same way about Julian Schnabel love some work but think some fail. In a side note, . I wish you would go to the Venice Biennale I would have enjoyed your commentary on the shows.
Thanks for watching and interesting thoughts on Oehlen. I would love to get to Venice this year - the early bits I have seen online and in the press look intriguing. Have you been to this one? It might be a stretch for me because I only try to travel by train to mainland Europe (climate change) and it takes a long time to get there but will see in August - a small chance!
interesting use of grid. is this a new direction/element for this artis; is some of this collaged? working on a collaged abstract grid can be quite challenging when one questions whether to break the bounds of some 'golden mean' of cohesion beyond which things start to jar
Where’s the best place to look to see what exhibitions are going on in London? Or is it a case of just keeping an eye on each individual gallery’s website?
I use this good listing site - Galleries Now. It contains a vast range of London listings and I find it invaluable because so much is going on. There is so much to see and this covers a lot. www.galleriesnow.net/exhibitions/london/

Thank you for watching. I try to let the art do the talking where possible - I am really glad you enjoyed the works.
Great, thanks for this
Thank you very much for watching - I'm glad you enjoyed the works.
Great forms and colours. Im getting a Basquiat feel I wonder if he was an influence on Albert?
I am not sure. I can certainly see it in some of these works. I will have to research that. Thank you for watching.
definitely not

🤩 George! You rascal, you called me out!
I’m going to watch this and the Baselitz video about 20 times before I comment 😄
Enjoy - thanks for recommending. I enjoyed it.

These works were all oil but the grid certainly threw up that issue of cohesion you mention and that was more obvious in some than others.

Thanks for the video - this is one I won't get to see. I like your Tom Paine picture - have you read Polyp's graphic novel?
I hadn't actually heard of it but have googled it and it looks great. I will certainly check that out - I'm a huge fan of Paine's writing and ideas.
Very cool video about his work but I would have choosen something more punk or jazzy as soundtrack
Sorry about that - restricted by copyright but PLEASE put a better soundtrack on.
Вроде искренен художник. Но чувство противоречия очень сильное. Портрет , лучшее из всего. Спасибо!
Definitely sincere - experimenting until the end. Thank you for watching.
His style has changed? Prefer his older stuff
He's been on a bit of a journey, certainly.
Sackgasse.
Some people say that and certainly agree with you - I thought these showed there was still mileage in the process.
Not realy new ideas ....😮
I enjoyed them though. Thank you for watching.
