While Paula is a good choreographer. I mean look at Cold Hearted. Janet becoming known as the best female dancer came after Paula during Pleasure Principal (Which Paula did not create) going into Rhythm Nation where her dancers always talk about how hard that choreography is the toughest they had to learn.
That was the era when people could actually sing and they put thought and effort into the videos that went with it. If I had a time machine I would go back to that time.
Little known fact: this particular janet video was shot in one sequence. No cuts, just a single take! Can u imagine the organization of all those moving parts? ...and yes, paula choreographed the dance parts. ;)
Giirrll the 80 's was a wonderful time to be alive., Now it's 20 21 , what a bummer... anyway you'd have to have been there to know.🤧😷🥴 And boy was it so much fun...
Yes! My friends from dance class nearly knocked my bed off it's box spring trying to learn the moves in that video as we watched it on MTV in my tiny bedroom.
I know this is controversial....but at the time I was convinced Janet was the REAL musical genius in the Jackson family...... I LOVED her music!!!!!!!!!
Dayum, the '80s were so much fun! I'm almost certain that the music, the hair, and shoulder pads defined the era. How I'd love to go back to all of it! Best time of my life.
Cab Calloway and so many other jazz musicians flash before my eyes when I first heard Ms. Jackson preforming. Seeing her was believing for sure. We love you girly thanks for sharing.
Janet was perhaps overshadowed by her more famous brother Michael. She definitely was a fabulous singer and dancer in her own right. If you like this one, I suggest Rhythm Nation, The Pleasure Principle, and Escapade :)
She did that all in one shot. She's always been an amazing performer and has sooo much good music throughout her career from the 80s through her most recent album in 2015.
This song is amazing! I know it from when it aired in the late 80's. She was great! Also loved her in the TV show Good Times from the 70's. Can you believe the transformation? Wonderful sound and representation by Janet!
Janet was 20 years young in 1986, the year her Control album came out. That album proved right then and there that she was not just Michael's little sister anymore.
Janet's. /Pleasure principle$and if you haven't seen it yet watch her /What have you done for Me Lately/Nasty/Again/If/ Rythm Nation /Thats the Way Love Goes/
I love Janet Jackson! She always choreographed intricate dances she would perform with her dancers, had incredible costumes, and often made videos that are like mini musicals. So talented!
Janet's videos were fire in the 80's. I was obsessed with them. Between her and Michael, artists found out how it's done. And yes, me and your mom were cool 🙂.
I remember going to see the movie "Absolute Beginners" when it came out in in 1986. When I saw this video, It was exactly in the style of that film. Later I found out that Julien Temple, the director of that movie, directed this music video (he also directed her music video, Alright). Thanks for the memories, India. I loved your reaction. JJ is a great artist!!
I love "Fast Cars" on the intro. One of my fave songs of all time. Janet is pop royalty!! ❤ I would get so excited when this video popped up on MTV as a kid.
I got to see Janet Jackson in 1990... amazing show! The live choreography was so well done. And yes, I may have had a crush 😊 Definitely a beautiful lady.
India!!! I love your reaction to all of the music on your journey, but Janet is the ultimate in Dance and video entertainment!! she was the queen definitely keep Jammin her Pleasure Principle is soooooo good its just Janet but the dancing will slay you everytime!!
I grew up on Janet, I love her so much, the 80s, the happiness, the positivity, the regalness, the paying homage to the golden age of Hollywood. You’d never understand. I was 10 when Control rocked my mind and the Queen of Pop is still an icon…
Reminiscent of the Broadway plays "Westside Story" and "Guys and Dolls" with the colorful costumes and the choreographed dancing and fight scenes. A wonderful video of the big hair fashion of the 80's
You did a reaction of the Nicolas Brothers, the video was black and white and the brothers danced and did splits down the steps. They are in Janet Jackson's video "Alright" near the end of the video. The video is a tribute to classic performers. I absolutely love "When I think of You", but "Alright" will blow you away!!
i also was looking back at some videos at paula abdul and she was forced to quit due to injuries but she was awesome and should do more of her along with janet jackson she also choreographed videos for janet jackson that is what she did before she started singing
1st time I saw her on the cover of The Rolling Stone in the 80's with those black gloves and outfit I fell in love with her - she is so hot! The studio version of this song is so much better without all the background noise going on. This song is on my playlist forever.
hahaha, that moment you realised mom had a great time back in the day! 80s was great, i was only a kid but i remember most of these as i had older uncles and aunts.
Choreographer, Paula Abdul... The Jackson's (because of their mom being a old movie buff, and loving the old MGM musicals) were really great at putting very good videos (especially dance) together. You can see a lot of old musical style in many of their video productions.
One of the best and most fun videos of all time. The best scene was the one where the horn guys first show up. Def. Hi Miss India! Hope you're doing good Girl!
I love how you do full disclosure at the start of these reaction videos, of what you know or have heard or seen before. Janet's songs I have heard many of, but her videos seen practically none as I'm a bit too young. I grew up on late nineties Janet (You, Got Til It's Gone, Together Again, Every Time) with the long perm and the hair in a high ponytail kinda vibe. This seems very dated but the music is still good.
This was early Janet Jackson! Singer Paula Abdul (yes American idol Paula) Choreographed most of Janet's early videos ! This was 1984 or 85? This is actually one of my favorites by her! Also Paula is in Janet's "Nasty Video ".
Her choreographer, Paula Abdul, had a few hits of her own. The ladies of the 80’s kind of had to do it all to make it big...
Also the length of the “long take” in this video is quite impressive.
Paula didn’t choreograph anything after the Control album.
Paula’s chroreo was very good here and Janet simply nailed it like she was a trained PRO.
More than a few...
That was the era when people could actually sing and they put thought and effort into the videos that went with it. If I had a time machine I would go back to that time.
How many people remember when MTV showed music videos? The 80s had some of the best videos because of MTV. They were fun and entertaining.
Little known fact: this particular janet video was shot in one sequence. No cuts, just a single take! Can u imagine the organization of all those moving parts? ...and yes, paula choreographed the dance parts. ;)
That's crazy!
anastasia mitchell :Paula Abdul was the best choreography of her time if not one of the best! Straight Up!! 😁💃❤️
Sorry to disappoint, there are many cuts in this video. They are hidden very well though.
@@Thebrainymonkey either way well done video and Janet Miss Jackson if you're nasty is an incredible performer
That is amazing!
Giirrll the 80 's was a wonderful time to be alive., Now it's 20 21 , what a bummer... anyway you'd have to have been there to know.🤧😷🥴 And boy was it so much fun...
Janet Jackson!🥰 My favorite is Rhythm Nation! Dance moves are flawless and fresh!!
Yes! My friends from dance class nearly knocked my bed off it's box spring trying to learn the moves in that video as we watched it on MTV in my tiny bedroom.
@@rosanajaquez3274 ah yes! MTV when in its glory! I tried to get my after school program to learn choreography, but they said it was too hard!
@@yoliemclaughlin9492 LOL! It was hard, yes. Technical with all the hand movements, but so much fun to learn.
You must review Janet's Pleasure Principle video....it's 🔥
My favorite Janet Jackson song and video.
Control was a great album.
Janet is one of the most talented dancers. Please react to Janet's "Rhythm Nation" & If," to see some of her best choreography at it's best!👍

If this surprised you. Check Nasty, what Have You Done for Me Lately, Rhythm Nation, If. I honestly could keep going.
Yes! I suggested the name, as well as “Let’s wait a while.”
Rhythm Nation!!!
Dayum, the '80s were so much fun! I'm almost certain that the music, the hair, and shoulder pads defined the era. How I'd love to go back to all of it! Best time of my life.
Oh Janet..she was everything in the 80s, she's so multi-talented and she had great songs!
Cab Calloway and so many other jazz musicians flash before my eyes when I first heard Ms. Jackson preforming. Seeing her was believing for sure. We love you girly thanks for sharing.
Those legends had an imponderable Janet, and you see a lot of the influences in the Alright video😉
Rhythm Nation and Control are nice
Life was amazing in the late 80s music was poppin
More Janet!! Love her!! Anything from Control is great.
Janet was perhaps overshadowed by her more famous brother Michael. She definitely was a fabulous singer and dancer in her own right. If you like this one, I suggest Rhythm Nation, The Pleasure Principle, and Escapade :)

This was the song, single, and video that made me purchase, Control. Loved the whole thing, ever since...
Janet is a legend! You should check out "Made For Now" - Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee.
When I think of you, Alright, Esapade, and made for now, all are great videos with that Happy Vibe throughout the video.
Seeing you appreciate and enjoy this music brings joy to my heart!!
Let’s wait awhile by Janet Jackson
Janet ATE this video up, *all in Stiletto heels at that!* 👠

You really gotta do “If”. You can’t fully appreciate how ahead of her time and in command she is without “If”.
During that time the whole Jackson family was Notorious for elaborate videos they were less like videos and more like little movies
Yup, I remember watching them on "Friday Night Videos" on late night NBC. Fun to watch, although I preferred the hair metal videos.

You gotta do more janet beyond the control era. Amazing era, but almost ALL of hers are. So many hits with great videos.
Love her stuff. Rhythm Nation is amazing. Escapade. Black Cat. Anything from Control.
Love Janet's Black Cat. Also check out Suzanne Vega's My Name is Luca and Tom's Diner. The first one will probably make you cry.

Janet's Control alumb 1986..was on the charts with Top 10 hits for like two years back in da' day ;)
