If cops are expected to handle animal complaints. What the hell is a Ranger there for?

About time. Let police do the job they were trained for. Animals and parking infringements should be council issues. But if they are like City of Launceston Council, the councils will say its a police matter. Not right.

Then they should have the right to employ council rangers revoked. Less funding for Councils.

Police should deal with parking and animal complaints. They only seem to appear if it looks like something is in it for them./ Conspicuous by their absence is the normal mode!!!

Animal welfare is important because other than the RSPCA there is no other enforcement for animal neglect and abuse. As for parking I agree that there is no need for police to attend parking disputes unless there is assault or damage to property involved.
Wildlife issues are best dealt with by rescue organisations and they will call for extra assistance like shutting down roads or extra support from Fire and Rescue or SES.
