Wow. This is such a good way to learn German. I've watched videos of German children's stories but the way you read them is like you're reading it to an actual child that doesn't know what all the words mean.
This video is worth like 20 lessons in most language learning apps. I'm learning that learning vocabulary and listening to stories is pointless without context and repetition. You do a fantastic job of repeating words and miming them so we understand the context. Thanks you for this!
I really loved every second of this, the way you explained every bit word for word with your fingers pointing helping us understand every word of the German being used has got to be the most valuable single piece of communication to help any English speaking person everywhere!!..well done!! 🙂👏👍
I am so glad that I discovered your channel! A2 learner here. I very much appreciate all the hard work you put into your stories. Well done. I am learning a lot. Vielen Dank!
This is very very helpful, I am currently studying German. I understood the story well. You deserve more subs. I will recommend your page to all the german learners that I know. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I've had trouble looking for stories and audio that aren't too advanced and aren't too basic for me and this is perfect. Danke schön!
I had this book as a child, handed down by my godmother. I was always frightened of it, even as an adult I could not open it and did not like even to touch it - so it just stayed in the cupboard with my other childhood books for many years. I only got up the courage to throw it out when I was 40 and had my own little girl - I wasn't going to let this book anywhere near her!
It contains stories that are based more on a 'teaching-by-terror' principle aka bad things happen to people/ children who are disobedient, misbehave or treat others badly. For example: A boy who refuses to eat his soup day after day until dying of starvation. A girl ignores her parents' warning not to play with a lighter, sets herself on fire and ends up as a pile of ashes. And all ilustrated like in this video. Don't know if you are a parent, but would these be your favourite nighttime stories? On the other hand it contains e.g. a story about a group of boys who mock another boy for having coloured skin and get dyed black (bathed in black ink) as their comeuppance. Fairly advanced stuff for 1844 if you asked me.
@@Phoenix-ks8sc probably not a nighttime story, and not the only kind of story you should tell a children, but still, there is a lot of value in this stories, the world is full of danger and actions has consequences, of course, you dont need to traumatize a kid to teach this things, but a little bit of fear and anxiety is prudent.
This is an excellent example of learning acquisition technique. It was enjoyable and easily followed. This is the first video that I have found that does this correctly. I have just subscribed, and I will pass this on to other English speakers trying to learn German that i know about in the USA. Thank you so much for your time and effort. I'm a big fan of your work.
This is the first time I've seen your channel and I'm absolutely delighted! It would be wonderful if in your description you put a link for somebody to purchase the book! Because this is a storybook I would love to own and I would also love to have it in my hands while watching your video and looking at the things up close. Perhaps it could be another revenue stream for you? But regardless I would love it if it were linked to the book so that I could buy a copy 🙏🏻 And your facial expression and your pronunciation is amazing! Your speed is perfect. 35 to 40 years ago I was fluent in German and I have forgotten most of it but I believe that it is still in my head someplace... Nearly listening to this while watching you and by the end I could understand about a third of the words! I wish I had an 8-hour long video of you reading things that I could listen to while I sleep because I think it would trigger all of those memories to come back to the surface 😂 Thank you for what you are doing!
I loved this! This is about the level my understanding of German is at, so listening is very helpful, a specially because I can practice my listening skills.
This taught me ein bisschen Deutsch und HOW MUCH MY PARENTS AND TEACHERS HAD TO BE ACTORS. MEINE MUTTER, MEIN VATER UND MEIN LEHRER... SIND SCHAUSPIELER!?! Danke for the great video!
The birds singing in the background...I miss that from living in der Schwarzwald area for five years. Brings back memories of a German springtime. The story is good too, but the bird song. *sigh* We don't have those birds in Canada.
Thanks so much for this! Do you have any more reading videos. I find this is a far faster way to learn a language because you learn culture and the stories are easily relateable! 🎉 danke!
Lol I'm brushing up on understanding German by listening for my trio this year. Now I'll know if anyone is talking about killing someone 🤣 Very well done, though! Easy to understand
Gosh, what a heartwarming story.
You don't say 😹😹😹
Sarcasm, right?
