@@maidaursuladawn44glasgow3 I defend the treaty also. It is the only thing left in the way of selling off the rest of the country to wealthy foreigners -just as it’s happened all over the world. Have you checked the OIO for the land sold to whom over these past years? Have you seen the immigration numbers at 100,000 per year since 2001, used by governments to create scarcity and drive up profits - used to pull in more taxes while neglecting the people of Aotearoa? Do you really think we’ve a democracy when each government destroys the country from one side or another.. all the while roping in fools to debate and argue all kinds of titillating issues, keeping the population distracted whilst it just makes rules on it’s own and does what it wants for it’s own gain. All that, and under the thumb of the Chinese Dictator - and the unelected Corporations - who also dictate the rules for our country, like the RMA for example. Their rules mean our own access to our own countryside is being restricted to the wealthy ( via self contained sticker) … need any more examples? The treaty is our last leg and many of these immigrants are NOT sympathetic. It’s a quagmire. The (Treaty) of Waitangi in english text is different to the (Tiriti) o Waitangi which is the māori text, our māori chiefs signed the māori text ONLY, hence why they went around the country trying to get chiefs to sign the english text.
34 chiefs and their families were held at gun point in the Manukau area of Auckland and forced to sign the (treaty) the english text.
The māori chiefs knew how to read english as they learnt how to read and write from the missionaries who came to Aotearoa 10 years prior to the signing of the (Tiriti o Waitangi) the māori text.
The Gov, is stirring up Aotearoa (New Zealand), this is a facade to something more sinister happening in the background, foreigners want to get rid of the Treaty/Tiriti because they are filled with wrong information that the document only benefits the māori, but little do they know, it is the only thing that safely protects ALL HUMAN BEIGNS HERE IN AOTEAROA (NEW ZEALAND) that the Gov MUST! By fiscal envelope ask māori for permission to govern our country, by way of our Monarchy, Spirituality and the mind - Kingitanga, Ratana and the Māori Council.
When foreigners express in disgust that māori get too much money, that money was owed to them from the illegal confiscation of hapū lands, our traditional healing practices and language squashed.
THIS IS WHY WE MĀORI FIGHT FOR THE LEGAL DOCUMENT, TE TIRITI, AS IT SIGNIFIES TO THE GOV THAT THEY CANNOT DO WHAT EVER THEY LIKE hence why they the Gov want to change it, to suit there narratives when ever they choose.

I am a Pakeha (White) but I grew up with the Maori at Rotorua and was a good friend of the High Chief of Te Arawa's sister, Mihiterina Hohepa. This is one of the largest and most powerful of New Zealand Maori tribes. The truth is, they are dividing us all against each other, and this makes us all weaker. Mihi's brother, Hiko-o-te Rangi Hohepa, believed we needed to make one country, taking the best of Pakeha and the best of Maori culture, and that we could make a beautiful country together! He was such a beautiful man, he died many years ago and I think Mihi has also now passed on. Hiko's son or grandson now leads the tribe and they are both good men. If we are not careful, the Globalists will use this brewing conflict to take the whole country over, and that will end up being bad for all of us!

I don't think that is necessarily correct. Misinterpreting something implies there was a misunderstanding. The Treaty of Waitangi writers understood exactly what they were doing when they wrote it. Also, the treaty was translated into Māori by a British missionary. As we know, the church and the crown did terrible things when they first settled in Aotearoa. I think everything was intentional and the only party left in the dark were Māori who mostly were made a lot of broken promises by Pakeha.

Hey question! didnt the British colonise the carribean as well? I think they had sugar plantations there didnt they? So there you go! we are like whanaunga! family! all those european colonizers stole away our cultures and our languages, but we are still going strong, and we can all reclaim our identities. I love Carribean culture. we feel your music especially your beats, the way you move in dance is so similar to our Maori dancing from our other polynesian maori cousins. You may wonder why Maori in Aotearoa don't dance Hula like our cousins in the pacific? All maori in Aotearoa originated from different islands in the pacific and we all danced Hula in our earliest times of our ancestry. But the earliest bones from 1350 AD they have found in New Zealand belong to the Marquesas islands People. The Marquesan culture was dominant during this period which spread amongst Aotearoa, and they are very warlike in their dance, Haka is the major Dance in the Marquesas Islands, and if you watch Marquesan Haka you'll understand it is very like Aotearoa Maori Haka, which is the dominant form of Dance in Aotearoa. Hula or Hura, became obsolete and instead our Hine (ladies) adopted Poi in Kapa Haka (What many arent aware of is that Poi was originally an ancient weapon) and they also used Patu (Club Weapons) in forms.

I think the British did bring some helpful things to NZ, but they should have respected the beauty of the culture that was already there and just agreed to help make their life easier. I'm sure the Maori would have welcomed them in if they had done it with no strings attached and no ill intentions. That's just how awesome they are. They are hospitable. Back in 1840. 95% of the population was Maori in Aotearoa.. why should we cede sovereignty. The English txt is full of crap. Maori only signed the Maori version 'Te Tiriti' and the main language in 1840 was Maori. The English version came about later on which is not the correct treaty.

Thank you so much brother for bringing awareness to others about what our tupuna went through and what we have all been facing here in Aotearoa. Many of us are trying to learn our reo as it was taken away from our parents and grandparents. The connection we have to our culture as Māori runs deep though. I'm moving to Australia soon for mahi (work) and the biggest gut renching part of it all for me is leaving my whānau (family) and my whenua (my land) the place where i belong at a time like this. I will be back though, i will always come home and we will rise up in unity as we always do. It aint right whats happening, but one thing my soul knows is that our culture will never die, no matter how hard they (the government) try to eradicate it x.

The PEAK of racism against MĀORI was 1960-1980, so my dude you're unaware, or privileged to have not been around it.. Watch "state of a nation" regarding the socioeconomic status of NZ in the 80s and 90s, it touches on the 70s.. The country was whitewashed then, and it's only getting worse now!!!.. Māori have had ENOUGH!!.. We will not see our future generation suffer like out grandparents.

I am crying watching someone choose to learn about this. Thank you for caring bro.
Stan is an artist, no doubting that he is important in the revolution of our people and the continuance of the revitalisation of our language. However, he is one of many. Te iwi Māori across the motu have continued to build upon our culture and create success for our people despite what has been thrown at us. Tame Iti is a pou, our kaumatua, a rangatira in many ways, who led the movement to make our language official. There are also others such as Whina Cooper, Moana Jackson, Dr Mataamua.... the list goes on. those are only some that come to mind.
We are seeing a generational shift, as rangatahi (youth) start to step into the roles our kaumatua and tupuna once carried out. A generation of staunch, unapologetic, proud Māori are here. We are ready to challenge. Our people have come so far, we can do it for ourselves now, and together, as a collective we are strong.

Many years ago, our ancestors could see the potential for our Maori Culture, our Reo, traditions, dying so Total Immersion for Te Reo Maori was introduced from Kohanga Reo (kindy/pre-school) through to High School Graduation and beyond to University Bachelor of Maori Language, Arts. A lot of those who were the first to be given the opportunity for their schooling to be totally immersed in Te Reo Maori, are today Teacher's to various ages of our rangatahi (young ones) It has always been a struggle and now more than ever, It is imperative we fight to uphold Te Tiriti O Waitangi as did our Koro, and Kuia before us.
Quite timely the world's reaction to not only to Stan Walker, Six60, History of the Haka, ultimately Maori people, our Maori culture, our Maori language, our identity. Our Hawaiian whanau, African American brothers and sisters, our Native American whanau, more close to home our many Aboriginal cuzzies and like many more cultures who are true to the land, the rivers, and the people.

As a pākeha (non Māori) I believe te Tiriti (the Treaty) being honoured would be good for everyone, here. The younger generation views things very differently unlike those idiots that are currently running our country. I have a lot of hope. Let us not forget about the Aborigines in Australian and Native Americans who also have their struggles for identity and have been subjected to genocide. Those immigrants from The Netherlands have very little understanding and should not be taken seriously. Their children will probably see things differently. Get a copy of Michael Hill’s “History of New Zealand” and read it.

I'm part Maori. There are two sides to every story Mate. Some of the trouble we have in Aotearoa, New Zealand is back in the day many chiefs sold land to European settlers. Problem is, the land wasn't theirs, it belonged to the neighbouring tribe those chefs were at war with. Yes, there were greedy, powerful white settlers who stole land. But these people would steal from other white settlers too. A lot has been done to right the wrongs of our ancestors here. For example, only Maori can own commercial fishing quotas in NZ, worth billions of dollars, which is kept by a few and not shared with the people in most cases.
