I have listened to many if not all of the typology interviews and this was by far the most beautiful and insightful. It is challenging to find voices from type 5's in spaces like this. Would you consider another interview discussing type 5's hitting stage 4 (the wall) in the journey of spiritual formation? Today was the first time I considered that stage 4 might involve actually allowing one's self to be known by God as opposed to merely imagining the presence of God. I can't wait to read Brant's book because this reframing masculinity may redefine many peoples images of God as a Father who came into that bathroom, truly knowing and being present.
I think God knows everything about us already and this journey is learning to know and see ourselves as He does. He’s every enneagram type but God seems very much a 5 observing and delighting as we figure ourselves out and have our aha moments that he’s known about before we were even formed in the womb! ❤
Wow!!! What a gr8 convo. I’ve never related to another 5 so much in every way! And what a great pair you two make. Ian Clone should be your name because I’d love to carry a mini version of you around and pull you out of my pocket whenever I need some wise insight. Hilarious, fun, validating for sure. 👍🏽 Appreciate you both.
Thank you for this touching interview! Lovely to see men talking in depths and being beautifully human. Thank you for showing the way to all men and women.
Great interview! I appreciated that Ian allowed the space for silence and wrestling with answers which, IMO, led to the best part of the interview. Brant's depth and authenticity was compelling and refreshing. I subsequently listened to his Ted Talk on anger and forgiveness which was also excellent.
Everyone who listens to Brant Hansen adores and appreciates his unwavering approach to protect the family. Always welcome his voice, as he has an uncanny ability to voice concerns, interpret human interactions, and enlighten his audiences to see what really drives us together and brings about fulfilling relationships. I so resonate with Brandt’s comment, “Jesus is the only one that makes sense to me … Jesus is truly compelling.” I could listen to ‘both’ of you non-stop; Brant and Ian. 👏 I’m looking forward to reading his personal thoughts in his book, “The Men We Need: God's Purpose for the Manly Man, the Avid Indoorsman, or Any Man Willing to Show Up.” Brandt thoroughly understands we’re all seeking connection’s whereby we have a sense of feeling safe and secure with someone, with others, and being relaxed in their presence. True masculinity builds a trust in a man, a friend, a father, a brother, a neighbor, that leads women and children to believe they care, love you for who you are, not expecting or requiring anything, to freely be safe in being yourself, and in all of life to know they have your back.
My band and I professionally produced a song in Chicago that we posted today on RUclips that sheds light on betrayal trauma and sexual addiction. Please click on the sleeping tiger to the left and it will take you right to the song. Thank you for listening, if you do.
Interesting! I am a 9 and on the spectrum (Autism Spectrum) as I find communicating and understanding my feelings very difficult, others I know are 8s who try to dominate the space and control everything, I suspect the Autism Spectrum makes the personality type more pronounced ( I'm a mega 9!)
At the very least Adam should have admonished his wife, repeating the death sentence given to them earlier. God could have easily created another wife for him, but he chose not to be courageous and stand up for God but instead became a rebel agreeing that us determining what is right or wrong is in our best interest, not God's standards.
Ian’s laughter is so contagious! I’d have to agree.. this convo is my favorite one so far! Thank u!

What a beautiful interview. Thank you.
45:57 "Don't think your way to your feelings, imagine your way to your feelings." I need to think about this, sounds really good but I don't know why.
Listening to you guys about anger isn’t masculine, made me think of the song by Holly Dunn “Daddy’s Hands”.
Loved !!!!!

Emasculation basically.
