I don’t believe I’ve ever watched a product review that was as accurate. I’ve used this system in multiple seasons in all weather conditions and it’s bulletproof, light and comfortable. Make sure to wrap the underside for a warm sleep. It is pricey but worth every cent.

    Nice video.
I hammock camp a lot. I love it. Far more comfortable than any tent on the ground.
You can take the tarp and hang it diagonally from the two trees, and then you only need two stakes to stake it down. This would also give you two points where you can collect rainwater if necessary. This configuration still gives you plenty of cover from the rain.

This was the first video of yours that I watched and is the reason I started hammock camping. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. As a matter of fact my wife and I are leaving tomorrow for a 4 day camping trip and we will both be using hammocks. I am also going to take the opportunity to work on my bushcraft skills as well. Thanks for posting such outstanding videos!

nothing better than a hang in the rain. best way to fall to sleep.
One hint though, in the rain or wet weather, tarp first and then the hammock. Otherwise your hammock is going to get all wet.
Even if you have to pitch it higher until you get your hammock set up.

I took Basic in the same month you made this video (March 2015). It is funny that I used this same set up for my camp at that class, The ENO hammock (single nest) and the exact ENO Profly tarp. I haven't had that tarp out in years after I moved on to a 10 x10 but it always served me well. Maybe it deserves an overnighter again soon :) This vid just popped up in the sidebar randomly so I had to watch.

A hammock is the way to go. I use a windshield foil sun reflector as an insulated pad. Gorilla tap some paracord to the top end to secure it to the top of the hammock to stop it from sliding down. Good to about 30F. Liked the vid.

This is my exact system, but I got their bug netting too.
Bomb proof. Used it over 1000 times and it's showing zero wear. Still works perfect.
The tarp can hold water and si needs to be dried, but it's huge and lightweight, and in all these years it's still in perfect shape.
    I'd buy again 500%

Nice brother, great setup, I didn't spend that much on my setup, because I didn't know how it would be sleeping in a hammock, always slept on the ground. Now, I wish I would of invested a little more money, because it is amazing. I wake up without something hurting, or sore from the all so famous rock I missed... I'm totally with you on the dislikes. I got a camping hammock last year and immediately started kicking myself in the *$$ for all the years I spent camping on the ground. It's SO MUCH more comfortable in the hammock. Not only comfortable, but just plain convenient. It sets up in a fraction of the time of a tent. The tarp allows you protection from the elements, but still offers an interactive view of nature around you. And when you're not sleeping, the hammock becomes a comfortable chair to rest in. The camping experience is just infinitely more enjoyable.

Thank you for a great hammock video. Being up in age, I find it difficult to get off of the ground, I enjoyed it when it was 40 years younger, but will try the hammock way, it will probably mean no camping in the Desert, but being from the East Coast and having the A.T. near by, the hammock will be the way to go. Hoping to get into hammock camping soon. The tent and cots/sleeping pad is so much hassle and too much bulk to carry around. It makes camping feel more like work than fun. But living in southeast Louisiana I need something with a mosquito net on it. Most of what I've found has been quite expensive so might have to keep tent camping until I can afford new gear. Nice video! Keep em coming Corporal!

Earlier this summer, I put up this system minus the rain collection bag in my back yard and let it stay there while it rained for several days. It didn't occur to me then to ask you this question. Should I assume that the manufacturer coated the tarp with an insect repellent as well as a waterproofing solution? Even if not, I may have sprayed Permethrin or some other insecticide on it. I assume that this would undercut the statement that rainfall is safe to drink. Yes? In that event would just running the water through a Grayl system be sufficient to filter AND purify the collected rainfall, or does it still need to be boiled? Sometimes what appears to be a simple question stumps me.

At 4.15 and 5.12 when stripping the stakes, I would have done it over a blanket or such, to collect the bark strips to use as fire wood. However if stealth camping I would not, as they are damp they will smoke so giving away your location

Great video, Corporal! Love the set up. Even though I've been hammock camping for five years I learned a couple of things and I especially like how you set up your water collection system. However, after 23 years of K-rats and MRE's I like to have "real" food on my outings. Now I'll have a use for those large FedEx envelopes I've been saving. They will replace the MRE sleeve. BTW I was always admiring your folding knife so I bought something similar, a Victorinox Rangergrip 178, and I absolutely love it. My only beef is that the blade profile is rather narrow but it cuts like the big boys and the saw is a plus. Your full tang blade looks like a Gerber Strongarm and that's my preferred hip knife. Your videos are always informative and certainly educational. Oorah and Semper Fi, Bruh!

You should be in an 11 foot hammock. You’re a big guy and when you sleep at the diagonal you’ll sleep flatter, without calf ridge and much more comfortable. Also, ALWAYS set up your fly first so your hammock and gear stays dry. I make a tripod under my tarp to suspend my rucksack above the ground. A couple Y sticks and some crosspieces make a table and a couple sticks in the ground will keep your boots inverted off the ground. REMEMBER THAT BIRDS MIGHT POOP ON YOUR TARP, SO TREAT OR FILTER ANY WATER YOU COLLECT! Welcome to the world of hammock hangers! Use drip lines (I use a Dutch Biner as a water break) on your suspension lines so heavy rains don’t run down your suspension and soak your hammock. Contact me by PM if you want to fine-tune your hammock gear.

Your videos are always informative and practical and I like the dual purpose use of the tarp, keep them coming!!! At 4:50, which SAK are you using?
Victorinox or Wenger? Hunter, Soldier or One Handed Trekker?
    Thank you sir.

Thank you and thanks for watching, I have always had some variation of the swiss army knife, I am from the MacGyver generation, lol. This happens to be a Victorinox one handed trekker NS. I have owned this one since it came out on the market. JMHO the Wenger model is too big for pocket use and if you are going to use that you might as well just get a Leatherman........

ENO hammocks are a bit on the pricey side. I found Wise Owl Outfitters hammocks and tarps just as good but for much much less.

Checkout bushcraft usa tarp. They make a couple killer tough camo tarps in different sizes.
