    Love this LS gen.
My parents had a 98 bmw 740 rwd. Where they live doesn’t get enough snow to warrant winter tires. I had to commute in that car during a snow storm once and it was a scary experience with old, hard tires. It would slip and slide and get stuck on the slightest of inclined from a dead stop.
I now live in an area w hilly windy roads and winter tires make a big difference. But it hasn’t been snowing much for the past 5 years, so I’m running all weather tires instead. They’re good, but not great in the snow. But after that rwd experience, I’m afraid to own a rwd car w all the hills we have.

I have owned both a 98 740iL and a 01 740iL. I can tell you without a doubt both of those cars go like mad in the snow with winter tires, the stability and traction control on the 740iL is far superior to the LS430's. I do now have a stablemate to my 01 740iL and that is my 06 LS430. I do really enjoy the LS430 though the 740iL will be my preferred winter commuter.

I have an 05. If you trigger the check engine light by unplugging the mass airflow sensor, it will trun off the stability control. Probably not a good idea to do it that way but I think it would Probably be okay if you just want a couple minutes of fun in an unplowed parking lot

Thanks for the tip! I've heard that you can disable it by pulling a fuse or unplugging the yaw sensor itself from under the center console.

Snow mode is terrible. I leave it in the regular mode and pick the gear I want with the shifter. Pwr mode annoys me because it hangs on to 4th way to long imo.
Also wash the salt off as soon as reasonably possible. Mine only has 160,000 and it's getting pretty rusty underneath.

Yah the rust is a killer, this one is very minty with 70,000 miles. I have the car undercoated by Krown, in my opinion its not as good of a product as fluid film, but they will drill holes to spray behind all the body panels and stuff and its only 150 bucks (that's what I paid for just the fluid film when I did my 9th gen civic si, so I think its worth it)

I will definitely look into that. Mine is probably too far in the rusting process but someday I may decide to trade it in for one with lower miles and less rust.

How expensive do you think insurance would be for a 16 year old with this car ?

Behind the gm 5.3 and 2jz yes it is the best as far as v8 it is second to the 5.3 in my opinion
