I put together your Dennys 4 lane 4x16 track in Feb this year. I installed the rails myself. It took me 50 hours for the rails, not bad for my first time.. It took me about 40 hours to drill holes and hook up the electrical.. I used a 1 1/8th paddle bit. that gave me some room to play with. I placed each section of the track down in it's proper place and marked the holes and then drilled them. Just like you showed here. It was a ton of work!! For anyone out there who's going to do it yourself, take your time.. I built my own table. 3/4" plywood top with green outdoor carpet on top. The carpet did make it harder to secure the track down but it worked out great!! I used a screen tool for the retaining wires. The tool you sent worked, but the screen tool worked better for me.. Both tools like to walk, I had to keep a lot of pressure on the retaining wire. I only had 3 little high spots. And they were on the first few pieces. My fault of course. I got much better as I went on.. I didn't have any help. If you do it yourself do yourself a favor and get some help!! Good video Dan!!
I watch Slot Valley Racing and his video has brought me here and looking forward to buying some viper cars so thanks for supporting Dan at Slot Valley Racing
I use a hinge centering drill bit to pre-drill the screw holes to ensure the screw holes are centered. More important if you are using plywood for the top of the table. An off center screw will try and shift the location of the track piece.
That's right. I always secured each piece in the middle first, and then screwed down the ends.. I didn't have any issues with the track trying to shift.. As long as you apply a lot of pressure.
One more thing. I used a piece of wood that has a 1 1/8" hole drilled in it and I secured it over each hole so when I drilled I wouldn't have any of the wood lifting up around the hole.. Or you can sand it down like dan does here. Your choice..
@@viperscaleracing really love your cars so far . I have 5 now . 4 of the vspec and a cmpm . Need to get a tyco clip yet . I have 2 afx regular and one lowered clips so far. Cars are so dang fast keep up the nice work

Dan, Thanks for doing these videos, a great help.
it's a "clutch". Nice system. I've built three wood tracks . Wht would the track need shimming, it should be "perfect"?

Done like a carpenter!
This looks like a better mousetrap. Following.
what is the best to
put under your track? greenfelt, artifical green grass, just paint the plywood ??
Paint the base, whether it's plywood, mdf, or anything else. Mounting on the carpet is horrible
Will this fit on 8ft length with some room to spare? Or do i need to add extra few inches. Sheets of plywood are 4x8 thats why im asking. Thanks
5/8” screws, what size? #6?
What material is the track made from ?
Sontra PVC
