Yeah I know everybody loves patina but the Caddy deserves a fresh coat of paint. Love to see it in its original glory, don't see too many (if any) like that.
What a beautiful piece of iron, even if it is a little rough. I love the hood and super tail fins and bumpers with so much class. A true classic. Darn now I want a '56 caddy.
That's funny you should post a Caddy video today, I saw one of these exact same body style Sedan DeVille's out cruising last night. We were out picking up some takeout food around midnight when we passed one of our favorite bars in town, my girlfriend said some kind of old car was about to pull out onto the main road and to slow down so we could see what it was, so I slowed way down to let it catch up with me, and when it passed and I saw the quarter panels and tail lights I immediately recognized it as one of these models. It had jet black paint and the chrome was gleaming... it was pretty dark out but it looked fully restored as far as I could tell. Absolutely gorgeous car. 👍
Every time I see the Caddy I'm transported back to Brooklyn New York in the mid fifties where I grew up. I'd see these behemoths when I walked to school and dreamed of our family getting one. Sadly, my teacher father could only afford a 1954 Chevy 210 4 door which we had until 1962. Troofly, my favorite 50's Caddy is the 1957, but I love your le barge rouge and am always impressed at your mechanical/broadcasting skills. And yes, I love 'Vettes too. Kudos as always.
Love the Cadillacs of the 50’s. When I was a kid, we had a neighbor that drove a Caddy that was identical to yours. Of course, hers had a bit more shine than yours has. 😄
It’s been a long time Ben. I am glad to watch another of your videos. The Caddy sounds a lot better shifting than it used to. I’ll look through your videos to see what you did.
lots of folks hollering at you to restore restore the caddy I think you have restored the best part of it the style the class and the awesome drive train trailer queens are nice and I enjoy them but to sit behind the wheel of a classic like that and cruise on down the road man that's as kool as it gets there won't be so many of these plastic ones around like this back in my day you could get a rebuild kit for almost everything new parts were cheap really cheap compared to todays but if you were a kid and couldn't find a rebuild kit and no enough money for a new part the off to the junk yard sometimes known as the out door parts whare house thanks for the great videos this is another good one !!
I was going to say… he got a good life out of it. Even my car a 77 Chevy which I’ve put 150,000 miles on in the last has gone though 3 pumps in 12 years.
Hi Ben, My uncle had a beautiful baby blue 56 Caddy probably in the early sixties. My Dad, uncle, and myself would road hunt for pheasants near Moline, Illinois. There are both WW2 Marines and pretty wild. They were great guys and I'll always remember that Caddy with the plastic Jesus riding on the dash board. I served in Nam with the Marines. Simpler Fi Ben,and enjoy your videos very much!!! THANKS
That was cool to see a "catch up" video on the Cadillac. That was quite the project back in the day and was fun to watch th series on that. It's amazing what you can do with dedication , interest, knowledge and skill. That's an awesome old car...I still like C3s best though! 😀
luv the '56. so stately. I wasn't breathing when you were pounding out the valves, as I managed to crack the housing on my original AC unit for my '58 doing that. but good deal, all went well for you and the caddy. fortunately ethanol-free is getting more and more common.
Great to see 👀the Caddy again!! Was the first video I watched on your channel and been hooked eversince thanks for sharing and as always "Howdy from Texas "!!
Hey Ben, love the Caddy, thanks for the ride. I own a number of pre 1972 cars/trucks and just a respectful suggestion, use only non ethanol fuel if you are able to purchase. I use mostly 92 but 87 non is also available in my area and it not only lasts but doesn't create carb and issues that you just had to correct. Just a suggestion, love the channel and the dagmars!
I buy 90 octane non-ethanol at RaceTrac, Wawa or Cumberland Farms. Easy to get in central Florida. Runs about 30 cents more per gallon than regular non lead. You can tell the difference. My vehicles love it.
I remember the days when you could rebuild fuel pumps ay your kitchen table. Nowadays, you have to pull the friggen gas tank to replace them at a cost of hundreds of dollars!
Thanks Ben! Love the caddy. Can you get a shift kit for those years? A small valve body mod would make it even more fun! Don't forget your camera on those cruises! Daren AB, Canada
Same thing happened to my Edsel. Started her up and she was gushing fuel at the pump. I ended up switching to electric at that point. But made it possible for the next owner to switch back.
That old girl is going to really stand out with a fresh coat of red base/ clear on it. However your going to become a expert on hand block sanding that aircraft carrier ! I been watching since you got it from that old boy in Tx. My dad had a 54 four door for 5 years, I still remember that dash ! then he traded it for a 1958 Olds 88 - J2 and that puppy rolled !!!! when you kicked in all 6 barrels. Ever think about putting the dual AFBs back on ????? cool factor X 12 !
If you cant find ethanol free gas you can try stabil marine. I use it in equipment without any issues. It was recommended by a mechanic friend and so far I've had no issues.
Thanks for this - I'm going to rebuild the fuel pump in my '55 Eldo in the New Year. Do you use any special gasket sealant when you put the pump back on the engine?
With all the old cars you mess with and drive, it might be worth sourcing a fuel tank and pump to keep along side the garage to have filled with "farm gas", if it is available in your area. Usually 91 octane and non ethanol.
We used to have to go to marinas for decent fuel, but now I'm lucky in that there are many service stations (even big chains) near me in south Florida that sell ethanol free gas, which I try to use in my cars that I don't drive very often as well as all my small engines. Do they not do that near you?
most gas stations are e10 my chevy tahoe handles e85. i wonder what effect e10 has on classic cars i suspect problems might be lines from gas tank to engine i could be wrong. does that fill up at left tail light cap i know some do.
Great to see you the old girl out again! Curious what's up with your wife Pontiac. Also, you ever think about having Windex sponsor a video? Thanks for sharing the update on the old girl!
What do you have for exhaust you don't have a video on that.i have a 56 SD too love sound of yours not to loud not to quite. There is a put together kit on Ebay for 8 or 9 hundred. Thoughts
Very interesting listening to all the hydraulic whines and big RPM drops of that era trans. Not a trans guru and especially not expert in the history. But I recall that in the 50s some GMs were still using tech from 30s and 40s and those sounds remind me of it. Don't remember which gear it was - 3 or 2 - but the way the hydraulics and gears worked together you'd go from mostly fluid assist to almost all mechanical gears and the RPM would nosedive. At least that's how I remember it....🤔
Don't know if y'all have a gas station around called Country Mark or if it's just an Indiana thing, but their gas has no ethanol in it whatsoever. There's a station of theirs a couple miles from me and I get my fuel there for all my small engines because it makes them so much easier to store over Winter without gumming everything up. I go ahead and run the ethanol stuff in my truck because it's a little cheaper and my truck gets used a lot more year round.
Ben a question. Is 50K way too much to pay for a 1968 Vette Coupe ? White with Blue interior. All power inside, AC, 427 CU 4speed. 69K miles documented. I have found that color combo is pretty hard to find.
Thanks for the video on the Caddy, question about Gasoline, is it possible to get gas without the ethenol in it? back in my youth my dad owned a Mobil Service station and there was lead in the gas so i was told and its in later years they started with ethenol added in, and i know that this nasty procuct can eat away at parts of the engine such as fuel pump, and maybe others . im not a mechanic but know a bit bout engines and the kinds of gas, i always use regular unleaded octane 87 cause the higher octane at 91 costs way to much.
Hey Ben, can you please make a video on how to remove and reinstall and seal a rear window and frame on a 76 Corvette please. Nobody has made one and i dont know how and i need to do one because mine is missing and its raining a lot. Please and thank you
Oh yeah! That '56 Caddy is running WAY better than in earlier days (whiny transmission and all). You ought to consider yourself the "manufacturer" of every car you save from the crusher, minus depreciation and cost of repair.
Yeah I know everybody loves patina but the Caddy deserves a fresh coat of paint. Love to see it in its original glory, don't see too many (if any) like that.
we should crowd fund it for him - I'd donate $1000!
Gotta love the Vintage Cadillac engine.. Always drives me crazy when people retire these old boilers for something New!! Great how to video.
That old Caddy just screams restoration!
Old Caddys are cool, and keeping one alive is even more cool. Very nice!
thanks for showing the Caddy, it's the car that got me to subscribe to your channel
What a beautiful piece of iron, even if it is a little rough. I love the hood and super tail fins and bumpers with so much class. A true classic. Darn now I want a '56 caddy.
Hallo Ben
Ich freue mich den Caddy wieder einmal zu sehen und vor allem zu hören 👂
Grüße aus Deutschland 🇩🇪
Built the year I was born!
That's when we built Quality vehicles. The Caddy is one sweet ride. 👍👍😊
Why doesn’t this channel have more subscribers? The content this guy puts out is awesome! Huge fan of his C3 builds/restorations👍🏼

Always like the Caddy videos. My grandmother had one like that.

I agree with just about everyone else..after 8 years it's time for the bodywork and paint.
Love the Cadillacs of the 50’s. When I was a kid, we had a neighbor that drove a Caddy that was identical to yours. Of course, hers had a bit more shine than yours has. 😄
I was literally just thinking to myself…Ben needs to do another Caddy video and BAM it was in my news feed. Thanks!
The car that brought me to the channel is back! Love the old Caddy.
I’ve been missing that Caddy. 💥💯
Smart to rebuild vs. New. She sounds nice and quiet!! Thanks for the ride.
Opps now I saw it’s a 1956. That’s what my dad had when we were in MO. Thanks Ben.
Great Cad, true work of art !
It’s been a long time Ben. I am glad to watch another of your videos. The Caddy sounds a lot better shifting than it used to. I’ll look through your videos to see what you did.
She goes right down the road like a Cadillac should! I wish the Wonderbar worked🧐. Fantastic car, Ben!
The wonder bar does work

Even without ethanol those mechanical fuel pump diaphragms would get hard and crack. The nice thing is it was one of the rebuildable types.
I was going to say… he got a good life out of it. Even my car a 77 Chevy which I’ve put 150,000 miles on in the last has gone though 3 pumps in 12 years.
What do you think of adding electric fuel pump?
That's a nice ride! You really should consider painting it.
What a beauty. When you said around the block, you meant in the country block!
Hi Ben,
My uncle had a beautiful baby blue 56 Caddy probably in the early sixties. My Dad, uncle, and myself would road hunt for pheasants near Moline, Illinois.

I served in Nam with the Marines.

Such a beauty, Ben. I love the color scheme of the engine!
Love this old girl of a Cadillac. Lots of CB history involved.
I think I am attached to most of the “patina” too.
Wow, can't believe it's been 8 yrs already since you got the Caddy. I remember you selling the Studebaker.
That was cool to see a "catch up" video on the Cadillac. That was quite the project back in the day and was fun to watch th series on that. It's amazing what you can do with dedication , interest, knowledge and skill. That's an awesome old car...I still like C3s best though! 😀
You left out........MONEY
It’s so nice in its old paint
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
This car's come a long way
Good Seeing You Ben, The Cadillac Looks Great!!
Thanks for the ride. Dig the car.
Such a stunning car! I’m sure it turns heads wherever you go.
Welcome back with a Caddy!
Those fuel pumps are rebuildable. I have rebuilt a ton of them in the past. The overhaul kits are still available on line.
I think there should be some class action law suit against the fuel companies....I'm so sick of replacing fuel pumps
Best car ride I've been in all Month..... Damn Ben I was hoping you would put her in passing gear to see what the Ole girls got.....🤠
Love the Caddy!!
Man I love the Caddy videos too 👍

Hi, I have my parents 58 cadillac they bought in 1960. Series 62 sedan..also has factory AC, power windows. Which one do you have?
@@johnfranklin5277 '58 Fleetwood...barn car survivor, very complete, but definitely looks like it came out of a barn!
Good job
I love hearing the gear whine and shifting when you drive her.
Typical for those old HYDRAMATIC 4 speeds. Had mine rebuilt for the 1st time 10 years ago. Still had that whine just like it always did.
Take her on Hot rod power tour. She would be a show stopper for sure.
Great job and video 👍👍🇨🇱
That Caddy is a big hulking monster rollin' down that road. Mass X Velocity of that thing is a world of hurt to anything in its way. :D
It’s time to show the old gal some love and put her in her Sunday best.
Great to see 👀the Caddy again!! Was the first video I watched on your channel and been hooked eversince thanks for sharing and as always "Howdy from Texas "!!
I would LUV to see you paint her w/rattle cans
Love old caddy's! Yours rocks!
my 1974 is just fine using 27% ethanol in gas in my country... I have this car for 10 years now...

How sweet is that iron beast.
I think if you get some air shocks to lift up the sagging rear end and a $300 paint job,it would look real good
What makes you think the rear end sags? Sits just fine to me
Nice!
Thanks for this - I'm going to rebuild the fuel pump in my '55 Eldo in the New Year. Do you use any special gasket sealant when you put the pump back on the engine?
Quitck Trip has Ethanol free gas. All I have been using on my classic cars. BTW: pick up some lead substitute and add it too.
The Caddy has sure come a long way in 60 plus something video's!!! Sweet! How is your wife's ''55 Chieftain doing??
I'd love to see what you're doing to your 73 Vette 😎
Love the caddy
That Cadillac is a beautiful lady. If I could wave a magic wand I'd be drivin it instead of watchn you! Congratulations!
With all the old cars you mess with and drive, it might be worth sourcing a fuel tank and pump to keep along side the garage to have filled with "farm gas", if it is available in your area. Usually 91 octane and non ethanol.
A 2 tone burgundy and white paint job with a new interior and you can do more cruising on the weekend.
Try using fresh batteries so the camera doesn't die. Keep up the good work, enjoy your videos.
The trans seems to be pretty quiet. It still holding up ok?

Are the materials in the kit designed to withstand ethanol?
You would think that the rubber used in new replacement parts is formulated to hold up to ethanol, right?
Lotd I hate ethanol....but I LOVE the Cadoooo....
Ooo 70s Mgb at the 7:00 mark
Great to see you the old girl out again! Curious what's up with your wife Pontiac. Also, you ever think about having Windex sponsor a video? Thanks for sharing the update on the old girl!

Yes the caddy.🤘
She a nice going to town car in style

Not bad for a 65 year old car. Too bad we won't be seeing the cars made today make it that long.
I use ethanol-free gas in my old car, but it is pricey. Might be cheaper just to replace the parts that the ethanol eats.
So, was the old diaphragm melted/ripped?
Ben doing Ben things...."Ben'ing it"!!
*awkward silence*
If Ben gets in a car accident, does the car get "Ben'd"?
........!!
...I'll see myself out..
Where’d you get the kit from??

Please and thank you
Lets have more Cadillac videos. When are you going to install the Autronic eye?
Does the Buc-Ees up there have Ethanol free fuel? The one out in Royce City does. That's all I run in the 57.
It does
