Most artistic, dynamic, and deserving of all. Reversing Devo's words, it may not be good for you but yes for me.

I am so stuck on how wonderful this is~! Nemo deserved to win, and I love the Code, but damn if this doesn't delve deep into my brain and make the chemicals happy in a different way than Nemo did. Both wonderful artists. I just am stuck on not only the song for Doomsday Blues, but the artistic image! Wow. I am reminded of Mirror Mask, and of every dark 90s movie I watched like Donny Darko, Spawn, The Crow and I donno just. This is a vibe and I love it. Bambie Thug gained me as a new fan.

      how is this not talent
Speaking vocally, Bambi has excellent control and tone to their voice. In all of their performances I've seen, studio or live, autotune or not, they're able to keep their notes steady and consistent. That's harder than you think. Vocalists spends hours a week practicing singing single, drawn out notes specifically to work on their tone. Instrumentalists do it as well. They also have an impressive range! It's nice to hear an alto (or possibly mezzo) voice represented in Eurovision! I feel like we only get sopranos with crazy belts or tenors and baritones kinda doing their own thing. Also, screaming w/o damaging your voice is a talent too. Voice actors, stage performers, and rock artists, especially screamo, use techniques to get the screaming effect that doesn't damage their vocal cords. People have done it wrong, and their voices have payed for it.
Speaking physically, do you know how hard it is to dance and sing? Vocal instructors almost always have their students singing with good posture: Standing straight up, feet shoulder-length apart, head raised and level, arms at your sides. Obviously, we want this to promote good breathing and movement in the diaphragm. That gets thrown out the moment you step onto the stage and have to move. All of a sudden, it's harder to maintain proper breathing control. Ever try walking and singing? Just that simple action moves your vocal chords enough to where holding out notes becomes a lot harder, and you're probably going to take more breathes. Now imagine getting thrown around by an Irish man as you do a bunch of fun ballet moves that jostle your entire thoracic cavity. (Dont even get me started on how amazing he was lol). Imagine doing that spin they did around 1:40 and having to draw in a breath before singing a phrase. Imagine singing ON YOUR BACK. That's something that took weeks of practice, and it shows.
Speaking musically, what do I have to say? Doomsday Blue takes effective use out of some relatively simplistic chords (Most of its Bm) and mashes it with a back and forth between intense, electric rock sounds with a droning guitar and ominous drum, and then a much lighter piano track that still has the bass drum pounding in the background. Mixing genres can be iffy for a lot of artists, but Bambi pulled this off very well, don't you think? The bridge for this song is a favorite of mine, where the percussion drops out and we're left with that low droning bass, and Bambi sings an almost hopeless sounding phrase that descends in tone. The instrumentation grows more complex as the guitar hits it up an octave and crescendos along with the percussion. Then the drop out, which is an all time favorite of musicians to amp up their performance and bring the energy they've been building to the penultimate. And the entire outro?! AUGGHHH ITS SO AMAZING.
Speaking staging, I honestly think it's the best from 2024. The camera work was choreographed down to the second, and each shot was very clearly thought out to make the stage appear more dynamic. The beginning segment is the best instance of this, with the camera beginning upside down and spinning as Bambi circles their hands the opposite way. Who came before them again? Nebulossa from Spain and 5Miinust and Puuluup from Estonia, two excellent acts that are high energy all throughout. If you're going to start your song slow, you better have a good eye-catching opening sequence. I also like that they don't depend on Bambi being the center of the shot for the entire performance, and sometimes opt for more empty space with Bambi off to the side. The lighting was also great, aiding in the transitions from the alien-sounding metal to the smoother bits. Flashing whites and blues to steady and nice blue and pink. During the bridge, we get a red glow around Bambi, which turns into the entire stage being engulfed in a sort of crimson. Then post-bridge we get a stunning lightshow of flashing lasers and screens. And the god damn ring of god damn candles!!! Not only is it on theme, its not just a static piece of the stage that someone took from their music video and did practically nothing with (Mustii, unfortunately). They extinguish at 0:56 to showcase wind from the power of Bambi's movement, only for them to reignite as Bambi draws their hands along the circle. And then the ring RAISING as the song nears its climax. I know it sounds like such simple things when you look at it like this but simple staging is key! Overengineering your performance draws attention away from performer, and might just actually lead to confused looking acts.
If you wanna talk about shock value, btw, this performance isn't it. Tbh there are very few songs that rely on shock value alone. No Rules! is an example of a song that operates on a lot of shock value, and I'd argue that even then it has some use. It's a song about no rules (omg its the title of the song), living your life, prance around the largest stage in Malmo w/o pants, do whatever tf you want. Let 3 from last year also had a shock factor in their song with military drag and such an abusrd opening line, but the satire within the performance is very representative about how many artists critiques many dictators at the time. For example, the Russian composer Shostakovich would routinely work satire into his ballets and symphonies, direct and indirect, to act out against Stalin, who had jailed and I believe killed many of his peers. While Doomsday Blue definitely has an element of shock, I'd argue that it's less meant to grab our attention and more to symbolize Bambi's internal struggle. How chaotic their experiences may seem vs how calm they act in response. Or maybe how they are perceived by others vs how they perceive themself. The song is said to be about their past experiences with lovers that did them wrong, which can very clearly displayed in how back and forth the style of music is. Toxic relationships have periods of discourse and screaming matches, only for those periods to be momentarily forgotten as they try to forget their misdeeds and lead a happy life. Is this story told through pagan symbolism and scary imagery with demonic-looking make up and a trans outfit? Uh, yeah, and that's what is to be loved about it! Music is an art. Art is a form of dialogue. People say things that may be considered "out of the norm" when conversing with others. That's life. That's art. That is Bambi Thug.
Also they play piano very well and I love them :)
