Video from one of the most dangerous airports in the world.
The airport was built in 1964 under the supervision of Sir Edmund Hillary. Tenzing-Hillary Airport is frequently referred to as the most dangerous airport in the world. Arriving and departing aircraft must use a single runway. There is a low prospect of a successful go-around on short final approach due to the terrain. The runway is 527 m × 30 m with an 11.7% gradient.

Very interesting airport in the mountains
Your winning video 🙌😀 great 🤩
Thanks a lot my friends :-)
The best Lukla airport video.
Many thanks my friend :-)
nice pics. beauty country.
Thanks my friend :-)
Doing the Everest Base Camp trek is on my bucketlist but I’d also love to take a day or two to just hang around Lukla and planespot. This airport is nothing short of amazing and utterly fascinating!
It's super. I've been there three times and I've always had at least two days to watch around the airport. :-)
@@petr-podrouzek Yes it's very interesting to see the day-to-day operation and just how hectic things can get!
Very busy airport
Oh yes :-)
5:37 💥 Ouch 😣 ✈️!! Great video of different vantage points 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks :-)
at least 30 times i have been here. Lukla is gateway to Mt Everest, highest mountain earth. Only small aircraft (STOL base) that can fly to this airport. Difficult geographical makes it very challenging to land and take off. But surely it is most beautiful air-route in the world.
Kk
Thanks alot for this video.
and massive respect for the pilots :)
Thank you friend, yes great respect for the pilots !!!...
Thank you for sharing. I loved it
Many thanks my friend :-)
Great video quality. Thanks. What a beautiful place. Hope to visit Lukla sometime.
Thanks friend :-)
These pilots know their stuff and the airport looks very efficient TimeWise !
Yes, pilots are masters :-)
The airport have to be efficient with time, due to limited window of opportunity to land
The runway is so short! Very beautiful footage, my friend, Petr. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is very short. It's a very exciting experience. :-)
Greats pictures 👍👌
Big thanks ! :-)
Great footage! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks :-) :-)
this would be a thrill to experience!
Thanks, it's amazing to be there :-)
Q lindos postales. Creo q es uno de los aeropuertos mas peligrosos del mundo.
Sí, es verdad :-)
Rest in peace in heaven, those 22 people who were killed in Tara 9N-AET crash🙏
Yes, it is a great tragedy
Gostei muito do seu vídeo!! Imagens sensacional 👏👏👏
Muito obrigado, amigo! 😀
Amazing and interesting video.
Many thanks :-) .-)
I love the sound of the Twin Otter!
Yes, me too :-)
What a video of this incredible airport. Everything has to be perfect in order to survive on it. The minimun fail means death.
Yes, it is a fantastic airport :-)
Love the Dornier 228's. Awesome performing aircraft, as well as very strong!!
Yes, its great plane :-)
@@ivamatouskova2547 Ano, piloti musí absolvovat speciální výcvik 🙂

i love the runway. Take-off the plane is like diving.
Big thanks my friend !! :-)
Fun fact - the Twin Otter on the left at 2:31 was involved in a crash on June 9 2018. No injuries but it appears the plane was written off. 9N-AEV
what happened? and where? did the plane overshoot or something?
Vico Erlangga yeah it was an overshoot. Same airport. Nobody injured but the plane was written off due to damage. Collided with fence at the airport apparently
I flew in to Lukla April 2002. That plane crashed later at Lukla killing all on board. I flew out of Lukla May 2002. That plane crashed a month later killing the pilots. Only realised it this year going through my photos and running the regos.
Přidala jsem views :) gratuluji ! Moc pěkné a zajímavé videjko 🛬 👍
Díky Ivanko :-)
Flying to and staying at lukla for a day or two would be my 2nd idea of heaven but my first would be to get an audience with the Dali Lama
Nice view.
Thanks friend :-)
Gratuluji k prvnímu milionu Petře! Ať se Ti daří i nadále! :-)
Ahoj Karle, díky moc !!! 🙂🙂

One of the best and worst experience of my life at the same time ! The engines starting to roar and the way down to the cliff... woah I have shivers just writing that.

2:30. 9n-AET. The airplane is no more. It went in a horrible crash like 2 weeks ago, killing all crew members and passengers.
Yes, it is a great tragedy
Muy bonitas vistas y que buenas tomas, mis repetos para los pilotos, saludos desde mi bello México
Muchas gracias amigo y saludos a México desde la República Checa. :-)
Thank you for your video. I'm glad google recommended your video, me, who would like to go for a coffee on the terrace at budda lodge with FS2020!
Thanks my friend :-)
This is the most dangerous airport in Nepal. It is literally built above a plain between the hills and actually is gateway to Mt. Everest. Your alternative is a week hike from pokhara or this. Once a pilot decides touch down, there is no abort or else you go crashing into the hill ahead so only most experienced and confident pilots are allowed to fly in here.
not only in Nepal but whole world
@@hypotheticalradioactivedwa2622 There was an even worse airport, right next to a cliff on an island along the Norwegian coast, so the wind blew into the side of it and/or low pressure from above, killed dozens before it was closed down!
Busy small airport in the world! Insane landing & takeoff...
Yes, it's a very exciting place 😀😀
At 1:27, looks like a roller coaster ride!
Yes, it is very reminiscent of a roller coaster :-) :-) :-)
Planes are dirty!
Yes, they are also very old :-)
I think due to the crash rate and age of the aircraft the ground crew decided not to clean these junks😂
I would only want to fly there on a Twin Otter. Seems like the safest choice.
Probably yes :-)
Twins! 3:00
Parádní :)
Díky ! :-)
5:35 holy shit he came in hot hahaha
Yeah, I was gonna post the same. Everything was so smooth and calm til then--and suddely *_Wham!!_* into the runway. It really woke me up.
Yes, some landings are very hard .....
An airport that needs the civilian version of the V-22 Osprey
awesome

+Danny Troy Thank you friend. Landing at Lukla airport is a really great experience. I've been there three times already. Hi Peter :-)
+Petr Podroužek Two things. This airport isn't called Lukla anymore, but Tenzing-Hillary Airport. HOWEVER, the city is called Lukla. And second of all to the other guy, there is a hotel at the end of the runway. :> it got nice view there! Not exactly 5 star if you get my drift, but if you went out here in the first place, I doubt you went for a luxury holiday. Its quite OK though!
Yes - me to 3 times but the 4th trip to Nepal I went to Pokhara to do the Annapurna trek
kathmandoo ,mimyakiabI.
So the budget hotel at end of runway is ok to stay for a week or so? How much? Any hot shower and heater at night ( must be v cold!!) What about food? Or other 3 star hotel nearby?
OMG, what a skills of landing and take off, its a very narrow runway.
Yes, it's amazing !! :-)

Just some Hi-viz vest would help so much here.
This video is 10 years old, but it remains the best shot one I have seen over the years. Hope to fly into Lukla one of these days. I notice that most of the aircrafts in here are the Dornier 228. They must be from the batch license produced in Kanpur, India for the south asian market. The Indian army, navy and coast guard extensively use the type. I first saw this type in my native Mauritius where they are used by the coast guard to patrol over the vast swatches of the Indian Ocean, landing on sandy airfields on remote islands thousands of kms away from their base in Mauritius.
Thank you my friend for your comment, it made me very happy. I like Lukla and airplanes very much, I was lucky enough to fly there three times already. I wish you to visit this place too. I send many greetings to Mauritius, I like it very much too. I have visited your island twice already, the last time was last Christmas. I have many videos from Mauritius on my channel. have a good time my friend :-)
@@petr-podrouzek Thanks , beautiful videos. Subscribed.
@@soobash I am very pleased my friend 🙂
Wow the airport looks exactly like the one in farcry 4!
Mr kerman because it is based on it
The far cry team even visited nepal
As a commercial pilot, that approach at 5:35 looked a bit too steep and the landing almost too hard, but he softened it up at the last instant. He also put it down *before* the numbers, which can be dangerous & illegal.
ProChoiceJesus If you can use every inch of the runway you will be good pilot for Lukla 🙏
The mountain climbing business must be really good.

Wonder why they bother painting the 24 at the top of the runway, no plane can land this way around
I don't know, but every track must have a sign and a number.. :-)
Even there is only one side for landing there should be call sign n that is 24

So it’s cargo twins that come in also?
Janice Ulaayu Angnatuk The only medium to connect lukla is by air so there should be cargo too💪
Man they sure don't play around, they have the next plane loaded before the last one even took off, shit grayhound bus's dont even run with that sort of perfection
