Back in 1980s I saw David Copperfield perform this trick on one of his television specials. It intrigued me so much that I got some rubber bands and figured out a way to duplicate the trick. Instead of using my forefinger to do the magic move, I used my thumb. Nobody ever caught on to how I did it. It is nice seeing an update on the first magic illusion I ever learned.
Duuude!! I thought you were gonna teach that in your secret society! It’s soooo GOOOD!!! That is such a beautiful and visual way to the do classic AND it cancels out the previous method. WIN WIN for everyone!
Pushing two decades of card magic later, crazy man's handcuffs has come to become somewhat of a signature trick. This will be a great addition to that!
This is one of my favorite tricks from when I was a kid, and it was really awesome to see an updated version. I can't wait to try this on my 6 year old! :)
Lloyd, thank you for sharing this cherished gem of yours! And also for sharing the history. Its a joy seeing how creators like you evolve this cherished craft of ours...respect.
Thanks Lloyd! I've been performing CMH for decades. I also like Crazy Sam's Handcuffs. Really nice updates on this time proven mini miracle. All the best and continued success.
Thanks to you, my mindset about magic has completely changed! Helps me broaden my creative spectrum! I've been watching these for a good minute now, and they are worth EVERY SECOND! Keep putting the good work!
Bro!!! Best video ever. Love this video. And love the call out to Mr smarty pants. So happy someone did this. Still waiting for the one guy though who will still say this because he didn’t want more than 10 seconds of the video. Lol. Ty for this!
I must be REALLY stupid. It fooled me and I love it. I've been doing magic for 50 years and you just helped me realize how dumb I am. That was awesome! You have some of the best stuff!
I remember when David Copperfield showed this trick a long time ago and later found the solution on YT. Practicing with far from your elastic rubberbands got me nowhere, but the trick is great and not so difficult.
I'm not Lloyd... but personally... for this trick I would use the same color, because when you want to show them "connected" after the move, before the separation, different colors could stand out and show the placement. With the same color, they blend together. For some tricks you want them to stand out, this one not so much. 😎
I'm so mad because I thought to myself "I wasn't fooled." And then watched the effect again only to go "well, shit, maybe I was. There was no way." And then saw the reveal and was pissed cus "well shit, I was only fooled by my own hubris."
Hey Lloyd, it’s a weird coincidence because I just got into rubber band stuff properly like 3 days ago and then you pull this out!! But that does mean I’d love to win your rubber bands… as the ones I have are not ideal! But seeing as that’s statistically a little unlikely could you let me know what rubber bands you use? Size/brand or whatever Edit: I had the video paused at 3:06 to type this comment. I I unpause the video and less than 2 seconds later you answer the exact question I asked. Now that’s a fooling trick!!!
I was wrong lol it was the first name that came to mind. I knew Michael Ammar was known for it couldn't remember if he invented it or not. Either way I love this trick its so simple but so visual.
Hey i woud love to say this thing we have is a gift . And who doesn't love gifts. Lol thank you you made my day ! Jot , in order to keep it you have to give it away . Still counting days.
Make sure not to keep rubber bands on your arms to Loong it's cut your blood flow ps I leanered the hard way I was wondering why My arm in pain i for got to take rubber bands off My arm
Lloyd: "But I'm just kidding..." 1:37 Nah you're not. Nobody likes those kind of people. If you are one of those people, you're much better off not letting people know.
Im so sad because I learned this trick on my own, with no one showing me how its done, I seen David Copperfield do it and I pushed myself into figuring it out, and now other people will know how its done, i wish tricks would stay between other magicians.
Why does Lloyd say he will fly the Bands out to us when he could run it to us, he is so fast I swear he and Colin Mcloud might be the same speed. or even Oz Pearlman on a really great day.
Would be awesome if I would win the rubber bands, have started to train some tricks with rubber bands, but nearly all of them broke : / And very nice trick👍
The bands I use: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BBMOBS8
They appear to be round as opposed to a flat style like Joe Rindfleisch's. I do like how these stand out a bit more.
The Amazon link doesn't work for me 😢
1:10 through 1:40 might be my favorite thirty seconds that has ever been filmed. Absolutely love it.

Nice twist. I also love how you call out the "smarty pants" who not only wasn't fooled, but also felt the need to comment as much.
Pushing two decades of card magic later, crazy man's handcuffs has come to become somewhat of a signature trick. This will be a great addition to that!
I love CMH! Recently fell in love with Crazy Sam's Handcuffs. This handling of CMH was absolutely beautiful Lloyd!
This is one of my favorite tricks from when I was a kid, and it was really awesome to see an updated version. I can't wait to try this on my 6 year old! :)
I need to start practicing more rubber band tricks. And you’re original handling is super smooth!
My daughter is going to love this whole new way of doing this. I taught her the original version three months ago! Thanks Lloyd!
👍🤓👍
Lloyd, thank you for sharing this cherished gem of yours! And also for sharing the history. Its a joy seeing how creators like you evolve this cherished craft of ours...respect.
Lovely, wonderful addition. And thank you for the history of the trick.
Thanks Lloyd! I've been performing CMH for decades. I also like Crazy Sam's Handcuffs. Really nice updates on this time proven mini miracle. All the best and continued success.

Loved learning the history of this effect. Thank you, Lloyd.
Absolutely brilliant again Lloyd!
Thanks so much for this great trick to use in an impromptu setting.
Awesome Lioyd.
I love your creativity.
Thanks to you, my mindset about magic has completely changed! Helps me broaden my creative spectrum! I've been watching these for a good minute now, and they are worth EVERY SECOND! Keep putting the good work!
This is so good because you can easily find the crazy man’s handcuffs on RUclips, but this is the only way you can learn this method for free.
Lloyd, thank you so much for everything, you don't just teach great magic you also support us all and all with so much love.
superb! Thanks Lloyd !
looks great! Just picked up procaps too!
Bro!!! Best video ever. Love this video. And love the call out to Mr smarty pants. So happy someone did this. Still waiting for the one guy though who will still say this because he didn’t want more than 10 seconds of the video. Lol. Ty for this!
Great handling Lloyd. When I first got into magic this was one of the tricks a magician at a wedding showed me (original version not this one ) .
Awesome routine! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh boy, I really love this handling.
I love watching your tutorials
These are beautiful additions to the original CMH.

Great vid Lloyd. CMH is still one of my faves and this is a fantastic take\addition.

I really like your moves, now I must practice!

I remember when David Copperfield showed this trick a long time ago and later found the solution on YT. Practicing with far from your elastic rubberbands got me nowhere, but the trick is great and not so difficult.

Thanks for sharing your version of crazymans handcuffs. Its more amazing. I would call it lazymans handcuffs.
Once again, brilliant!!!
Absolutely no need to call out Craig Petty, 75 seconds into your video
Great comment hahaha
Whats everyone's beef with Craig Petty
Hi Lloyd, do you suggest to use same color band or different color. Thank you for your great video :)
I'm not Lloyd... but personally... for this trick I would use the same color, because when you want to show them "connected" after the move, before the separation, different colors could stand out and show the placement. @@freemagicfun thank you very much for answering. Have a wonderful day 😀😀
Love you loyd, and thanks for noticing how smart my pants are
What’s the bands you use because the link doesn’t work for me, also what kind of magnets do you use for gimmick building?
I say the make and type of bands right as I start explaining the method 🙂
@@LloydB awesome!
That's "Mr" Smarty-pants to you. I knew you were using gimmicked rubber bands. LOL... Thanks for sharing Lloyd 👍
I love rubber band magic
I'm so mad because I thought to myself "I wasn't fooled." And then watched the effect again only to go "well, shit, maybe I was. There was no way." And then saw the reveal and was pissed cus "well shit, I was only fooled by my own hubris."
Very cool!!!😎
I prefer to have the spectators hold on to one of the rubber bands when I perform it
The second one is reallly a good idea
