It's worth noting that a good pickaxe with a good thick bevel cut into the chisel side works awesome for trees this small and maybe slightly bigger. It isn't the "right" tool for the job but it let's you cut those small roots with 1-2 swings in a circle around the stump.. then you can swing your pick head UNDER the stump and use the leverage to pry the severed root ball out. Also, for you fellers with high-end axes, be mindful of the ground you're swinging into. You can really screw a good, hardened axe up quick in rocky ground. Cool video, though. Especially for homeowners that might not want to run a stumpgrinder or have the ability to hook up to a larger piece of machinery.

Stump grinding in its entirety is too much investment for such a little return. We outsource our stump grinding services.
We used to do that, but you can do roughly 2K a day in stump grinding which is worth it to us.
Love your enthusiasm. YES!!!
If Steve-O started a landscaping business… I’d hire you. I love Steve-O! 😂

Good old fashioned Sawzall.
Legend says the stump is still there waiting for the final hit
Use a Cutter Mattock. It will be easier using this dig and cut method.
Catch your breath lol so true ❤. Awesome video.
A cutter mattock is well worth having if you're doing this. It can cut roots but isn't bothered much by chopping into dirt, it's made for it really.
