This is a once-in-a-lifetime gem. When I first seen this video of Cynthia Johnson singing it it was like wow. Anyway, it was a dispute with the record label she didn't even do the video but they have three women in the club dancing to it and everybody thought that was the original group. To the Young generation you have no idea who you're watching this woman was a great mystery.

Sencillamente: LA VERRAQUERA!!! Mucho derroche de talento y elegancia al bailar de la real cantante y esa potente voz bien impostada y matizada. Maravillosa!!! y que cadencia entre todos los instrumentos en una incesante inter comunicación precisa y desbordante de energía!!! Y ese bajo que lleva el liderato en la melodía es absolutamente fantástico y el músico del órgano con su toque elegante en la última octava y en los sonidos que imitan a los violines, la batería con su ritmo preciso, la percusión alrededor con ese instrumento que parece una clave y la guitarra eléctrica también tiene su protagonismo y esos cambios de ritmo en general, todo ello, en conjunto, hacen de este tema una verdadera joya musical. En una entrevista Greenverg dijo que cuando contrato a Cynthia para cantar Funkytown , fue ella misma quien le pidió no aparecer en la portada del single por que la canción no le gustaba y que la canto solo por el dinero que le ofrecio . Cynthia creía que la canción jamás sería un éxito. Cuando la canción empezó a sonar en todo el mundo y a recibir premios , recién Cynthia empezó a pedir ser reconocida .
Yo esté tema lo ubico por Malcom el de en medio (in the midle), qué buen ritmo en los 70s tenían, mis hijos obvio también lo conocerán es una joya musical.
