was here july 2022 amzing place also drove most of it , but your done footage show so clearly the now missing bit, bought back all of sights from july still smiling , also you show some bits i missed , must go back :-)
We were there yesterday. My fourth visit over 40 years. They really need an annual camping weekend and classic car gathering, with the start finish road closed to public traffic.
I was driving in France and went past this, I knew nothing about it, truly amazing, it's in the middle of nowhere and you see this amazing site of the old pits and grandstands, thanks for putting this video on. It was just by luck that we drove past.
What history. Mingling with the ghosts. Giancarlo Baghetti here in 1961 became the only driver ever to win a F1 Championship Grand prix on a first attempt. What were the bookies odds on that one ? Colin Chapman raced in his one and only Grand Prix here in1956.
So glad that the French have protected what remains of the pit complex and it’s being restored. Such an iconic track during its greatest decade in the fifties.
I describe that moment also in my blog about this visit. I alway try to keep much distnce as possible in front of me, when filming a circuit which is now public road. So I drove exactely the speed limit of 90 Km/h, just like the guy in front. But that sunday driver behind me tried to overtake me with 1 km difference. You can't see it in the video, but he was next to me for a long time. When the speed limit went up to 110 Km/h I hoped he would accelerate and go away. Instead of that he parked his car in front of me with 81 Km/h, and blocked my view on the track/road. That was the moment I decided to show him how to overtake properly ;)
I just discovered this channel and I really liked it. You have a new subscriber. And very nice the MX-3 you drive, is the V6 right? I also have a Mazda, a '96 Protegé. It's not fast (1.5l automatic) but it's fun to drive. Greetings from Mexicali, Mexico.
Hello, excuse an information, but was the circuit of Reims all on public roads or had some stretch been designed only for the race track because there are curves that seem made to post for the spectacularity of the races and then why interrupt that trait?
It was public road, but as you said, some sections were designed for racing. Here is some explanation about it: ruclips.net/video/kKY2qiNv2K4/видео.html Part has been demolished for the widening of a N31 highway.
That's so sad. I have a special kind of hate for people who destroy living history. Surely someone in the area must have known about the circuit's existence? And after all the destruction at the hairpin, it wasn't even necessary for it to be erased to let the new road go through! Absolutely disgusting.
That was not the last corner. They demolished the Muizon Corner for the expansion of the N31 highway. Now the short straight between Hovette and Muizon is a field.
Circuits of the past It is sad that the old circuit course will be destroyed and forgotten by everyone. But now I can run old street circuit with my own car. I would definitely like to run my MR2.
on 2d driving simlator on google maps a drive or least try to drive lost circuit.. this one sadly can't drive due to lost part... old spa layout i can... this track fast fast

They have an annual revival.
Nice, never actually been round the circuit before. The lost bit shows up very well even now.
I’m glad this channel exists. There’s so much Motorsport history out there and it’s great that this channel is keeping some of it alive 👍
mbbarnes80 i agree with every word, amazing channel
Thank you :)

@@Circuitsofthepast Thanks, you can imagine my surprise when driving along to see these old fashioned pit buildings with the old adverts on
@@AirshowWorld Yes I can. I hear also stories about people who wonder why there is a grandstand on the freeway near Berlin.

Amazing as always, those high speed old circuits were incredibile, racing was a totally different sport at the time
thank you! awesome place, one of my dreams to visit alongside with Rouen! I've got goosebumps while racing in those 2 in simulator! :)
The country side is so pretty especially with cars going 200+ through it

Thanks for the lost part, you always do an amazing pro job!
Thank you :)

Thanks so much for taking the time and putting this together - greatly appreciated!!! 👍👍
Thank you :)
Grato por nos proporcionar conhecer o famoso circuito de Reims-Gueux!
De nada.
The track had four different iterations. You can still drive all of them up to the '54 layout, which used the now missing section. Well worth a visit.
Yes, and you can see all layouts in this video with voiceover: ruclips.net/video/eizrntFHSgI/видео.html
Track is cut off by fields.. but one intersection before the original turn you can go up there and continue on original track...
Check this video... ruclips.net/video/eizrntFHSgI/видео.html
Glad they didn't demolish everything.
très intéressant ! bravo ! congratulations !
Merci!
Very nice. Great
Thanks. Have you also seen my other video's?
Nice battle at 5:50 :D

We were there two weeks ago (July '24).
Can you imagine the F1 cars now on that track - straight away speeds would be killers
I WOULD LOVE TO GO THERE ONCE AND JUST DRIVE AS MUCH AS THAT CIRCUIT I COULD IN A 66 BRM P261 FLAT OUT JUST AS A TRIBUTE TO THE OLD TRACK
That's loud and clear ;)

Nope

Why did they end up demolishing the lost bit in the field?
That was for broadening the N31 highway.
when was the missing part of the track destroyed?
I don't know the exact year, but it was about 15 years ago.
Circuits of the past Okay thanks, interesting how recognizable it still is
I drove the whole thing in May/June 2000, and I think it went very shortly after that.
There were 3 versions of this circuit and I drove them all. Here the onboards ruclips.net/video/zClg941pZpw/видео.html

why did they demolish that one section of the track?
Looks like the farmer wanted his land back :)
Because of the extension of the N31 highway.
ah thanks for info :)
hopefully rest of it won't get demolished.
Is the last corner now a field?
That was not the last corner. They demolished the Muizon Corner for the expansion of the N31 highway. Now the short straight between Hovette and Muizon is a field.

Nice car. I have an MX-3, from the other Japanese manufacturer that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans ;)
Circuits of the past
Is it MX-3? It is a nice car. I have seen it on video but since I have not seen MX - 3 in Japan, I'd like to ride.
Yeah you see it in several videos and on photos on the website. You hear the V6 engine also at the begin of every video :)
on 2d driving simlator on google maps a drive or least try to drive lost circuit.. this one sadly can't drive due to lost part... old spa layout i can... this track fast fast
Very fast track isn't it?
Yes, it was a very fast track.
You missed out the village of Gueux. Shame.
You missed this is the 1953 - 1972 layout. Shame.
