Ha Ha…I was musical director on this tour and put that band together for Elk. My dear friend Boz Burrell wrote this song. On one occasion Boz had Elkie and Paul Rodgers over to his house, she frightened the life out Rodgers! wonder if there is any more of this concert…I wonder where it might be?
Huge thanks Tim for the reply (I'm honored) I saw you many many times on the TV, seems you were always on the tele, Rockstage, two Ronnies many more, i saw the above concert and it is still is one of the best live show I've seen to date and I've seen a few. I still have the Concert Prog with you featured along with Geoff, Stretch, Duncan, etc amazing band, I still consider that setup with you as MD to be 'The Elkie Brooks band' nothing after that was that unique. Big thanks again for the replay (Still pinching Myself) and the live sound was a real knockout!! Phillip
That’s was the last tour I did with Elkie. A combination of management changes and when it was suggested that she sing “Nights In White Satin” or as we Iike to call it…”Tights That I Shat In”…it was the end. She was and still is one of the best female vocalists and I have worked with some of the best, Esther Phillips, Kiki Dee, Mavis Staples to name a few. Shame that her career nose dived and now I believe she plays in old peoples homes. A sad demise from her 8 night run at The Apollo and 10 night run at The Dominion, London. :-(
Hey Tim. That’s a load of Bull . Elkie does not play where you say she does . She is still selling out big venues, saw her in Brighton last December and she blew the roof. She was number 5 in charts in 87 with No More the Fool, same year sold out Wembley Arena. Her song “Just an Excuse “ was covered by Bonobo. But one thing you got right she is a great vocalist .
Tim Hinkley The MD on this tour - Amazing set up and top band, glad to say I attended one of the live shows on this tour, superb!!
Fantastic version amazing 👏
More please
Amazing
