Obviously it's great for the other teams if you get Southgate in at United but if I'm going to be very sincere here, Southgate is not a tactician, he will not fix any of the on-field problems.
Goldbridge ignoring that Villa & Spurs have also had injury hit seasons. It derailed Spurs after a good start. Villa lost Buendia and Mings before a ball was kicked. Lost Kamara (also an ACL) who is an integral player. Jacob Ramsey has been virtually out all season. I would say that if Kamara and Ramsey had been available Villa would still be in the face for 3rd rather than trying to scramble over the line for 4th. Torres has missed many games as has Moreno. Cash, Carlos, Zaniolo, Durán, Emi Martinez and Tielemans have all missed games. 3 ACL injuries in 6 months. This has meant that Emery has had to play certain players every game and some are really now struggling with fatigue. What he has achieved despite all this is quite remarkable and he's one of the few managers who doesn't use it as an excuse, the downside of this is the media don't report on how much it has affected Villa. We had a small first-team squad at the start of the season and when we have needed to rotate he's not had fit players to bring in. The last few games (Brentford, Lille, Chelsea, Olympiakos & Brighton) have shown key players like McGinn, Luiz, Bailey & Watkins are running out of gas. But Villa, Newcastle, Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool Brighton & Wolves will hope that they get better luck with injuries and season.
Emery & Monchi will build a bigger squad for next season. Atletico Madrid's Mario Hermoso is joining on a free transfer & Villerreal's Alex Baena is likely to join us which is a good start. Cash will be replaced by a top quality RB. A LB, DM, AM, LW & a CF will also be added to the squad this summer. This is where Monchi comes into his own area of expertise
Exactly, a coach can help players learn to play I'm other positions. Teach and inspire them. ETH just says the players can't do it. He can't coach. He's terrible and deluded.

So Tottenham and Villa have been fortunate and are in their respective positions because some of the other "big" teams haven't performed well? C'mon Goldbridge thats narrow minded at best.
Villa are in 4th on merit, they traditionally don't do well against Utd, Arsenal or City, however 9 points from 12 against the top 2 in the league is not luck, they got their tactics bang on in those games. Where Villa have dropped points has been down to either bad decisions (like many instances for other teams) but mainly just not having the squad depth to manage in the premier league due to extra games in the europa conference league and yes, sometimes they're just outdone by another team. Next season will be the same unless they add substantially to their squad in the summer and even then it will be a big challenge if they do end up in the champions league, it will all be valuable experience though for the squad going forward.
I sincerely hope Utd end up with Southgate replacing ETH, loved Southgate as a servant to the Villa and what he has done in the England setup but he really doesn't have the experience to manage in Englands top flight where he won't have all of the best players from his home nation at his disposal. UTV

@@bardo0007 No actually I dont have to admit that. look at the points Villa got from those opponents this season...zero off man united, 4 from chelsea (and they knocked us out of the FA cup) and zero from newcastle. So 4 points from a possible 18, I'd say thats an average season asides from maybe an extra 2 points from Chelsea.

All his transfers has failed apart from Martinez, who has just been ok....I do not care if Manutd ends up 10th. If you cannot show me what you are trying to do in 2 years. You gotta go. I tell you something folks, I am never having any sympathy for another’s teams injuries ever again, we have had probably the worst injury crisis in premier league history yet nobody seems to acknowledge it as any kind of an excuse, I have been sympathetic in the past to other teams but never again.

@@VR46314 Martinez was our player of the season last season, our defence of which shaw was part of had more clean sheets than any other team last season, besides that the personnel doesn’t even matter if all your defenders are Injured, you just come across as clueless about football, at no level does a team win games without a defence to pick.
