    Kurt, I agree with your assessment. As a previously hardcore bookers fan I have been finding my palate to be changing a bit away from Booker’s. And I think it’s that same note you’re talking about I find in all of them. A sour wood note I think is an accurate description. I’m finding it a little off putting lately. I got the same in little book 5 and 7 too. I have found I enjoy them all much more on their own but in blinds that note starts to amplify and I end up being unimpressed by any of them when I go back and forth between them.

    This is my jam. I'm a Beam freak. I love my Booker's, Baker's, Knob Creek SiBs. I say the Beam funk that I like is a black licorice funk. It's a finish that I really enjoy.
    Charlie's batch is my favorite from 2023, by far, and the other 3 overlap more. I'm in my happy place with these premium Beams.

    Interesting take by Kurt... something funky or sour...I like bookers profile.
    It's like vanilla, wet oak sometimes dry oak, sometimes char, the funk comes from the age of the wet oak. It's balanced from the perspective that it encompasses variances in age and oak levels along with baking spice intensity levels...if you want a candy bomb or you prefer sweet then Bookers probably isn't your jam 😃😃

    The issue I have with purchasing Booker's is they apparently can use a different blend/juice for outside the US so a review on here will not necessarily apply to those in other countries (I am in Canada). I have one that in the US would be the Charlie's Batch but here there is an E on the batch number and the age statement is slightly different. The proof seems to match what I have seen on here but I have heard from others that they have a slightly different proof with the same batch number.

    • @chargerguy74
      @chargerguy74 Год назад

      I have noticed the different proofs with same batches but doing more digging they were actually the same. This is between the 01 and 01Es. So I’m not sure what was going on but I found pics out there of bookers labels with different proofs than what turned out to be on the shelf bottles. Initially I thought our 01Es were different because of that, and maybe they were before I started getting into them (2018) but they seem to match up.

    • @Chilliwack56
      @Chilliwack56 Год назад

      @@chargerguy74 Well I only have my own experience where it had the same proof but a slightly different age statement than on the US bottles featured on here. Since even a small difference in aging and proof can affect the flavours it can make it difficult to be accurate. Of course I admit that different barrels often have slightly different characteristics as well. As they say it is what you enjoy that makes the purchase worth while or not worth it.

    • @chargerguy74

This year, I've only been able to get the Charlie's Batch Bookers in my area and I thought it was very good. And not just the nut itself but if you’ve ever had a pecan straight from the tree the “kernel” around the inside of the pecan is super bitter and sour in a kind of earthy way. You can really taste that bitter pecan in the Apprentice Batch where it’s almost like a pecan pie where someone didn’t shell the pecan all the way. You can sort of taste it in the Mighty Fine Batch but it’s much less noticeable.

    Everyone knows Bookers is the new alka seltzer, nothing better to help you get over a cold.

    My first bookers batch was the apprentice batch. Didn’t hate it, didn’t think it was special. Avoided the others but might be on the lookout now thanks

    Bookers is my favorite Jim Beam product. I enjoy the proof and it comes across as peanut butter to me instead of just nutty. Appreciate the blind

    I absolutely love your videos and I always try to watch your content prior to buying a new bottle of whiskey. However, I was very disappointed in Kurt's indifference in this video. I understand you're not a big Booker's fan but I wish you would have cared a little more in regards to ranking and tasting notes. I have purchased both the mighty fine and storyteller's batches and I am a fan. Just my two cents. Still love the content! Maybe consider blinding with some Booker's but not letting Kurt know it's Booker's. Cheers!

    Bookers to me is similar to Bakers in that I get that biscuit/bready note. But Bakers has more baking chocolate notes and I'd say a more typical bourbon profile. Bookers has some tart wood notes, tends to the sweeter and can even be minerally. Its honestly not a favorite of mine. Its fine, I'd still class it as "good" but definitely not a favorite, probably not even top 10 for me.

    I can agree with Kurt here. After drinking Rowan's Creek, I'm just not a fan of the Booker's profile, especially for the price. Lacks sweetness; misses balance.
