You are using the hip shot wrong, instead of pushing with your left hand practice pushing with your right elbow and forearm to free up left hand movement.
I love G&L, but the involvement of Cort put me off the Tribute Series. By the way, the Will Ray Signature is essentially a G&L ASAT Z-3 with a Hipshot B-Bender installed.
