Jonathan is a character that had the potential to be extremely annoying, granted he was mildly annoying to me personally, he had a childlike sense of wonder and charm that made him relatable. 💜
Johnny's an interesting character. He comes off as just an idiotic American tourist at first, but he slowly reveals that he has a strange sort of wisdom to him. The kind of wisdom that comes from traveling the entire world and immersing yourself in other cultures. Johnny isn't just some guy who goes around taking pictures of famous landmarks to post them online. He actually knows enough about local folklore to instantly recognize Drac's wife and perfectly recite the legend behind her death. It's actually kind of cool. He doesn't seem smart in a traditional kind of way, but you can definitely understand why people find him so interesting to talk to. In the sequel movies he's pretty much just a standard man-child husband stereotype though...
30:10 Yeah, this movie came out in 2012 and during the 2000's to the mid 2010's it was a thing for a lot of mainstream animated movies to end with a huge dance party to a pop song of some kind. Why was this a trend? Idk honestly.
This is so sad how Dracula lost his wife. That's why he was protecting Mavis for years, just to keep her safe. Adam Sandler and his wife were amazing in the movie 😢😢😢🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Adam Sandler is the GOAT of these movies, honestly. Sometimes he's "a bit much", but that's Sandler for you. Fun fact: He only voiced Dracula for 3 movies. This film is a lot of fun, something that I didn’t expect to watch to be honest! Finding out that Genndy Tartakovsky(who worked on other animated content like Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, Unicorn, and Primal) was part of the film’s production made my experience of watching this film all the more enjoyable.
I thought the premis was good for the 2nd and 3rd. Having a son who may or may not have powers, and Dracula's side of the family being involved. But everything fell flat. Then the inteoduction of Van Helsing, and forbidden attraction. Also good ideas, also fell flat.
The cast was perfect and Selena was quite lovely as Mavis and adorable his daughter plays Mavis as a young kid! Gotta love Andy Samberg as Johnny, Kevin James as Frank, with Buscemi, Fran Drescher and David Spade as TIM and cannot forget Ceelo Green as Murray!
I always appreciate when they mention who the voice actors are from the get go, especially when the others are just finding out. Like Owen Wilson for Cars and Adam Sandler for this one, I feel like the watching experience gets more excitable when you know who it is
Oneof my childhood favorites, it’s so much fun and perfect for Halloween! I remember watching this movie when it was released in theaters.🦇 I love this movie!🎃 👻 thank you for watching!❤️☠️
Fun fact: Gendy Tartakovsky was also going to make a Popeye movie with this kind of animation, but after the Sony hacks in 2014, the movie was scrapped and never finished. We did get a little tease in 2014 though. Tom Kenny (spongebob) was going to voice Popeye
Zing was mentioned in the first ten minutes of the movie. It had already been brought up by Dracula at this point. So if "coincidence = paying attention" then sure.
I was 12 years old when I watched Hotel Transylvania for the first time, it brings me back middle school memories, it’s so good to see this movie thanks to you guys! ✌🏽
I consider this to be the best one, they actually give each character a certain animation walk and movement that they just blend together in the later ones. I love how Dracula and Johnny move! With Drac being more stiff and Johnny having more of a flow but both in exaggerated movements
How I rank the Hotel Transylvania movies: 1) 1 2) 4 3) 2 4) 3 I give 4 a higher ranking because, despite it's quality, they hired the RUclipsr Brian Hull, and I have to respect them giving a YT star a chance at an official title.
I was like 18 when this came out and it’s still my favorite Adam Sandler movie just because it’s so sweet and fun. I haven’t seen the sequels but every time I see this I want more Mavis
Genndy Tartakovsky is the reason why Hotel Transylvania has so many over-exaggerated, cartoony movements and expressions which was never done before like that in a CGI movie before since the 3D character models aren't as easy to freely stretch and squash and exaggerate as 2D drawings, they had to constantly adjust/remodel them for this and Genndy kept pushing to make it more extreme and expressive, helping Hotel Transylvania to achieve such an overly cartoony look in the end Btw you guys should totally react to Primal if you can, it's amazing
Yeah Genndy's aniimation work on these movies remains incredible, and I do think it's some of the most interesting and (frankly, surprisingly) heartfelt stuff Sandler's done in a while.
I always loved that even though Johnny loved Mavis he put his newfound friendship with Drac first. They were friends first and I thought it was really sweet.
They should really keep like a list of everything they want one day cuz it seems like it would just be lost to time and they're all so cool, so Boom wants to live in a castle. And they also wanna get a sad sax guy like from Regular Show if they ever get that rich
This movie is amazing and so rewatchable, not just for Halloween season -- it has the right amount of light-hearted comedy and conflict that gives it such great depth
Hey boom, So You're thinking the the Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau, Germany. I agree the hotel does look quite similar on the outside but the difference is the real castle was never finished being built. If you visit it you'll even see the side covered in tarps to prevent the unfinished parts from the elements. It's also the castle Walt Disney based Sleeping Beauty's castle off of aka The Iconic Disney castle. Unforunately you can't stay in it though. But you can stay in Hever Castle in Hever, Edenbridge. Fun fact: It Hever Castle is the historic childhood home of Anne Boleyn.

A great trilogy of films by the legendary Genndy Tartatovski.....the 4th blews! Man good style too, plus the songs man, cute couple they are and way better then Twilight! The references don't get me started
Yeah. The whole zing thing is kinda wonky. Mavis lived over a century without ever knowing anybody that wasn't family or family friends. Johnny was literally the first person she ever met who didn't have some prior connection to her or her father. To quote Bruce Willis, "That's not a choice. That's a lack of options."

I also have a lot to say about facts about voice actors, univers lore, references/eastereggs and more, so if y'all do reat to it, and like it, i'll also probably comment on each video to talk about facts in the episodes you react to in these videos (even if y'all don't see it i don't Care TFP is my passion i'll talk about it for eternity) And also Ninjago another REALLY GOOD kid show that i think a lot of people would agree with me they'd love to see you react to these both
30:25 On the topic of Genndy Tartakovsky, I strongly recommend watching Primal. Of all his works (I assume you guys have already seen Samurai Jack), Primal is truly his magnum opus, just absolutely masterful visual storytelling intertwined with the sensibilities of a pulp magazine. Though as for why he did this film, there were two main reasons: he was the sixth and final director they went through during development (yes, the SIXTH), and he liked the idea of making an animated film about the Universal Studios Monsters. It also probably allowed him to keep the money flowing so he could focus on his more personal projects over the 2010s, namely Samurai Jack S5 and Primal.
Random fun fact, while ya were scrolling thru the credits, Rebecca Sugar (creator of Steven Universe) is actually credited as a storyboard artist for this movie
