    my confusion was between ischemic colitis and mesentric ischemia. was wondering why cant an atrial emboli occlude blood supply to colon? why cant that happen.

      The colic arteries(Rt & Middle of SMA+ lt colic of IMA) are very very narrow branches …..thromboses most commonly are similar in diameter to medium sized vessels…It’s extremely unlikely that a thrombus get lodged in the narrowest branches…..the only way to get ischemia in narrow branches arteries is via a drop in perfusion or reduced blood flow which is the case of ischemic colitis……

    How to differentiate between chronic mesentric ischemia and ischemic colitis

    • @woah1887
      @woah1887 8 месяцев назад

      Ischemic colitis usually presents with no pain
      Chronic mesenteric ischemia presents with postprandial pain
