I'm pulling the trigger on that combo coming from MP18 MB/SC combo set. Like the idea of the added forgiveness 7-4 and the 223 is such a great offering.

You and Grant are the reason I now play Mizuno irons and wedges. Brought me from a 5 hdcp with my TP R9s to a 2 with mizunos. I love the look and feel. I definitely think it makes me better just feeling more confident with the amazing look of mizunos behind the ball.
Love the positivity grant brings to garret. Just shows he has his best interest. I want to golf with the good good! .... but off camera so I don't shoot 100+because of the pressure lol(you know because the camera is the only thing stopping me from joining the pga)

Lie angle is more important for start direction rather than turf interaction. As long as the ball flight is good and looks the way you want, the divot is almost irrelevant.
Exactly, a lot of people miss that point and argue otherwise, adjust based on your specific ball flight preference. Divot is irrelevant for the simple fact your contacting the ball before the turf “ as you should “ so if your hitting the way you want as he stated they fly straight and I hit them good but the divot is bad. What? Makes no sense to me.
a shaft that is too soft has droop as the CG of the head tries to align with the shaft and will make the toe droop down and look to be too flat as well, a nippon 105 plays a little soft compared to lots of equivalents
Have an Idea for a match for you guys. I call it "Best Alternate Scramble" Rules: Each player hits their Tee shot and the team chooses the BEST shot to use. The player whose shot the team chose can not hit again until the team uses every team members shot. Every tee shot resets and once every team member has used their best ball. For example: Par 4 Hole Garret, Grant and Steve tee off. They choose to use Grant's drive. The following shot only Garret and Steve can hit an approach shot. Lets say they take Garret's approach. Now Steve is the only member who can hit the next shot. If Steve doesn't make the putt (Lets be real he makes everything lol) all three members can now hit the fourth and rules continue on as normal from there.

Just recently got fit for the first time for my first set of brand new irons. Mizuno jpx 921 forged, gotta say I'm probably going to rock Mizuno Irons for a while to come.
I got fit a couple weeks ago after going through some swing changes over the winter and was fit into the DG X100 as well! Amazing feeling shaft, especially comboed with the new mizuno’s! Was hitting the 7 iron 221 farther than my current 7iron 710 ap2
maybe they offset it in the maths? Unless different players do different quirky things with their swing due to the added weight, then maybe it might be a bit of a problem for the calculations
in theory the optimizer is a great tool but ive found it doesnt work for me when I was fit. My number #1 recommendation was C-taper 130x and #2 was Project X 7.0. Those things were like telephone poles and not ideal once we tried them out but I knew that already.
Before you leave Arizona, play a course called Sterling Grove. Brand new course that’s going to be a country club but not enough houses out there yet so it’s open to the public for a couple years.

Congratulations! First time “commentor” 🤣 I am looking to do the same as you this year. I have been playing Mizuno Blades for 15 years now, MP32’s. Nothing feels better than Mizuno in my opinion. Like you, and most, I’m also going through a swing change. I stopped playing for years but now I’m back to golf. I want more tech to add distance in my irons, even though I’m pretty long. I love the 225’s but I’m afraid of losing spin, hitting the ball too high, and hitting too far. So I’m also considering the 223. The dealio is I don’t like the way the 223’s look. I’m going to have to get past that I reckon because the 223 gives me more distance that I want with the forgiveness that I need. So I’m thinking of 223 in the shorter irons, and 225 in the long irons. Fingers crossed. And congratulations again. Welcome to Mizuno Nation. 👍🏿

Love these videos! Could you give us a ballpark price range for a club fitting on this level? A breakdown of the cost of the equipment and the fitting itself would be a nice gauge for golfers interested in doing this.
I just had a Mizuno fitting done with the Swing Optimizer and bought a set of 223-225 combos. Generally the fitting is $100-150 and the new Mizuno are $1500 for a 4i-GW set. Price doesnt change for custom shafts, grips or combo sets.
Lots of places waive the fitting fee if you buy clubs that day. Every manufacturer will have a list of no upcharge shafts and grips that will not change the price from MSRP. It gets expensive if you want a shaft with a big upcharge on every iron.
@@travis2386 That’s what I mean with Mizuno, they didn’t charge for any steel upgraded shafts. Only graphite’s like Recoils were an additional cost. Same thing with grips… no charge for any grips, including the GP MCC midsize I like. I also looked at the Taylormade P770s but they wanted an additional $60 per club to install the Nippon Modus 3 120X that I was fitted for. And $10 for the MCC Mids.

divots tell u pretty much nothing lol....if you strike the ball on more toe or heel it gears the clubface which you see in the divot...doesn't tell you lie angle
@@timnelcin8717 or just high protein intake. creatine helps with water retention in muscle bellies - which in turn leads to better recovery and strength gains, but is overrated to a degree

You guys are so much fun. Thanks for all your hard work. What I want to say Garrett is I feel like you need to use your legs more. I'm no professional but I have all kinds of sports experiences (volleyball, golf, hockey, badminton, tennis, swimming, curling, drinking Lol) and I understand how the golf swing works. It looks like your upper body takes over the swing as you're coming down and you're therefore unable to use your leg power fully. I think, first and foremost, this accounts for your inconsistencies off the tee. Tig has that leg power going and is, generally speaking, much more consistent off the tee. @@bedehsu4377 I’m old school and have been fitting once in the past 20 years swing has slowed down a little, but have had the same clubs since 2012 (1.5 flat) and only changes that have been made is graphite shafts and a little weight added in the neck of my jpx 800 pros same length, lie, lofts for 20+years. The lofts are more towards traditional lofts (exmp 7i 33*) I recently played 18 with the Taylormade p770s and couldn’t hold a green. So I’m gonna have to put some stock/beliefs in a club fitting here soon as the 800pros have been refinished rr grooved and re-everything to their brink. But I’ve also seen fittings go both ways, if the fitter cares enough and learns/knows(as much as he possibly can) whoever he’s working w, golf swing, the results will always be better than just taking a shot in dark and trying a bunch products that aren’t necessarily good for the golfer and try and make it work. But I digress, it’s been seen and done both ways w positive results
Wish you'd tried the Project X 6.0 or 6.5. Feels much better than DG x100 TI. DG feels too whippy and light compared to Proj X. Toe down divot is good if you tend to hit draws. I've seen you miss it to the left. If you toe up your lie angle, your hooks will come back. Also you didn't need to get a whole new set of blades. Blades are all the same, for the most part. They could've easily adjusted your lie angle. Stiffer heavier shafts will lower your ball flight and reduce spin. It will be a nightmare on firm greens.

Dude, gotta head up north and get fit at TXG. Toe down isnt for sure a bad thing if you use the toe down lie angle to manage ur start line.
The optimizer makes the shaft heavier, wouldn’t that affect the numbers and thus affect the fitting/shaft?

I fit people with the optimizer and it’s amazing. I’ve had no complaints from anyone.
