Pretty much any big change, no matter what it is, will be a catastrophe, because we and our ecosystem have evolved gradually to deal with the world as it is. In a sudden-change story, it's changing much faster than anything can re-adapt to the new configuration... so none of us will be in good shape with the new arrangement. But in stories like this, which posit a world that evolved in a different way all along, there's no sudden catastrophe and we can actually discuss what differences would exist. This one got really interesting; thank you! BTW, I agree that we would definitely eat giant bugs if they still existed. We already eat crustaceans and think they're delicacies, and they're just oceanic giant bugs! The insects evolved from the crustaceans.

One day as I played hide and go seek with some friends. We ran through a building in Macon, GA. As I went to chase my friend up a set of stairs I saw a giant roach on the second floor landing. Now I mean giant as in human adult size. I was 12 at the time, not under any influence and idk how to explain what I saw. All of my friends I told this story to don’t believe it.
