I wish there were a performance of s song by Carpenter entitled "Sing A Song Of Freedom." I learned it while I was in elementary school over 75 years ago and it instantly became a favorite.
If all you know of John Alden Carpenter's music are Skyscrapers and Adventures in a Perambulator check out his first symphony. I think you're in for a treat.
Thank you for an amazing performance of a serene and remarkable symphony John!
Gorgeous Symphony: love its energy, orchestral color, lyricism, "populism," and optimism! The nature paintings are lovely too.

I grew up in Illinois. His music reflects Illinois. Just a beautiful performance.
I wish there were a performance of "Sermons in Stones", for it is radically different than this "first" symphony.
Molto bella.
Thank you for this upload. Now....about that tune....I assume John Williams gave credit to Carpenter?
i did not recognize any movie. What movie are you guys talking about ? :/
Starting at 15:51 you can hear something of Williams's Star Wars theme. A bar-length melodic similarity, anyway.
Holy COW! It is almost a direct steal. But who would know NOW? And Carpenter repeats the theme!!
@@jg2904 I heard a little quote from Jurassic Park.
@@francispanny5068 I guess it's in his DNA.
