you can consider using Launch Darkly for setting custom feature flags instead of adding flags to your DB. It's much easier to maintain and easier to deprecate once use case is done. Don't have to worry about DB migrations, back filling, etc.
Hi Jacob, I really like your videos. I'm a full stack developer. I work on ReactJS, React Native and NodeJS. I'm also starting a my startup journey on my youtube channel. I'm very inspire by your videos.
Im sure you’ve already thought about it but once you get an idea of everything you want with this product make sure to make some commercials (or find someone to make it lol) for Instagram, LinkedIn, tik tok, RUclips and wherever else creators might view it! From 10k to 30k. Hell of a journey! Love from Colorado!
Is there no way to combine the basics of integrations into one table for the database and include the details in a separate DB if for some reason you ever have to change integrations? You don't want your foundation (database) to be reliant on third parties. Your use case might be an exception given the nature of the app, but if there was a way to abstract this you'd save yourself a lot of refactoring and database modifications in the long run. Great vid!
Dude, you’ve come such a long way from back in NZ!!! The videos were and still are relaxing and exciting, but idk what it is about these videos now but they just get me so hyped for you!! You’re doing so good, keep it up. Love from the dev club❤ PS: That stretch between when you left NZ and came to NY but didn’t upload, had me so sad because I was worried you weren’t coming back😂🎉
Hey Jacob I think you should abstract your integration flow which would make it easier for you to scale if you want to add even more social media apps such as facebook groups, threads etc. Rather than cresting a seperate complete flow for each. Maybe make an abstract flow that you can use for all and then change the underlying functions code based on the social media app Just a suggestion, maybe I am wrong. Would love if you could correct me
always good to have a dose of coding vloggies early in the morning dude, sorry to ask, could you share your prescription glasses brand/model? They're thin on the sides, loved it
Hey Jacob, I’ve been very curious to ask.. since you don’t have a formal computer science degree - did you learn algorithms and do you use them to any sort of degree during your coding? Or is your main knowledge around website architecture? I’m also a self taught developer currently working in the field, I want to move into a bit more backend/fullstack but unsure what the most important bits would be to really nail down. Keep up the good work dude, always love watching these videos, cheers!
Nice Content Jacob! I enjoy watching your vlogs as I code during work haha. I was wondering, how do you manage test cases when building your project? I found when pursuing personal projects, I find it hard to keep up with test cases for my own work. Is that an issue that you deal with at all?
Awsome vid as always dude! Question. How does one come up with a great idea like Subbb. Is it through trial and error/research/talking to other ppl who might share the same struggles as you etc? Would love to hear yo thoughts mate! Nice one!
Hey! Love your videos, but pls!!! pls!!! On Windows (chrome) you have scrollbars everywhere... I know you use macos (i do too), but on windows it's terrible! But love your journey :)
What will you be using for WhatsApp? Their Cloud APi directly or a party in between? Curious about this as we are building something with WhatsApp as well, but got stuck on verification with Meta.
so people have time to hate on people's chicken on rice instead of learning to code... jeez I feel like i dont have enough hours in a day...On that note a question for you Jacob ... Do you think its still worth it to learn to code in 2024 ??

Also consider Unleash for the same purpose, having used both I prefer Unleash
+1 for not rolling your own feature flags
there are open source options as well
11:32 🤣 man thought you was mental - he wasn't havin' it
Dev Club to the moon 🚀another great vid

"Who are you talking to 😅" I feel reassured I am not the only one who tells to people that I talk to a camera 😂
