Hah. I heard of it just by seeing the thumbnail title, before I clicked.
0:57-1:01 Nice demonstration of HDR by the editor. So far I haven't seen anyone making the remark.
Came here to say this. Nice touch!
Super Clark many of us are on flagship mobile devices
@Super Clark there's tons of great hdr tvs and phones.
Some displays labeled as HDR definitely shouldn't be labeled as such, like the DisplayHDR 400 ones. It makes it even more confusing as if it wasn't already. Actual HDR displays are really nice though and of course HDR OLED phones are amazing
That's actually not a very good demonstration since it's simulated (this video isn't in HDR so it's impossible to show the difference. Even if it is in HDR, you need a HDR display, which most phones and TVs have nowadays)
01:25
If there are 3 tiers of freesync, they should just call the premium version "Threesync"
That would be extremely smart tbh. Although it would be better to keep freesync in the name unfortunately
Riley is the closest thing we have to a Sim character that can speak English.

The name was changed from FreeSync 2 to FreeSync Premium because of marketing.
Anyone, anywhere, if they see "2" they will abandon "1" because of "newer".
But the vendors don't want to abandon freesync name especially for low end monitor, so they forced AMD to change the name.
0:37 Talks about AMD gpus, shows icon of rtx card
Phew, I wasn't the only one to realize that this video was about an AMD specific feature but the graphics card images they used were Nvidia rtx.
Kaden Sharpin doesn’t FreeSync also work with nvidia GPUs?
@@Termsofseve No, they have g-sync.
@@freevbucks8019 FreeSync monitors also work with G-Sync now right? They have an entire lineup of G-Sync monitors that are in reality just FreeSync monitors with zero changes, and they also let you use any FreeSync monitor on the condition that some stuff might not work properly
Yes, NVidia made Freesync monitors work on G-SYNC. Some of them have been tested by Nvidia and work without a problem but if nvidia hasn't tested your monitor, you can enable it manually but it may have issues.
However, i don't know if FreeSync Premium Pro Deluxe DSMax would work with his advantages, it's possible that it would just be treated like a standard Freesync monitor, this would need to be tested.

I like the fact that, they are showing on screen, everything they're explaining
This is not a confusing naming scheme. It is what AMD needed to do long ago. Nvidia saw this gap, stepped in and claimed all the good Freesync monitors under the Nvidia brand.
If somebody doesn't find LFR anywhere it is called LFC
I'm pretty sure its LFC
The screenshots during the video show that it is LFC! LFR doesn't even make sense! How did LTT miss this?
I guess I must be the only person on the planet who is happy with the Freesync name changes. To me it makes it much more clear what I am going to get. Plus, Premium seems like what most gamers should aim for in quality. I like that there is a middle tier that actually makes sense.

Hey guys! I've a tech question. I was learning blender and when the part of animation came, I saw the frame rate 29.97 fps which puzzled me because having 29.97 frames per second doesn't make sense to me. I tried to look at internet about this but don't know what that mean. I'd be happy if you can explain me what happens to 0.03 frames every second.
this guy explains it ruclips.net/video/3GJUM6pCpew/видео.html
@@otobot1 I looked up at it before but I honestly didn't understand it.
@@imyasharya You may be overthinking this? The way I rationalize it, is that the monitor displays a frame every 33.3667ms. It doesn't have to display an integer number of frames in a second.
The side effect of this is for every ~33.5 seconds of footage 1 frame is "missing" (ie 1,004 frames instead of 1,005 @ 30.0 FPS)
It's like 29 frames, and 97% of the last frame is sent by the GPU in 1 sec
Low Framerate Compensation is LFC; not LFR, that's kinda how acronyms work. Way to add confusion to an already confusing topic, RILEY (and whomever wrote the script!)
It's spelled LFC, but pronounced "LFR" according to the author

i love it when i first hear of something in your "confusing explained" videos
Dear TechQuicke,
Your channel provides great explanations with understandable animations and a nice tone that other explanation-channels just lacks. However, how are we supposed to find relevant information about tech if you keep using clickbaity titles. This one in particular should be called FreeSynch's confusing naming schemes and not AMD's, just as an example.
Over time I've seen this channel go more and more into non-relevant or slightly hit-and-miss titles that, in retro spect, make it really hard to find the specific explanation I am in need of.
I have a proposition for a solution: Keep putting a bit hit-and-miss "clickbaity" title for new videos, but after a week or so, just rename them to a boring and actually descriptive title. This way, you get the benefit of the first weeks extra views AND the benefit of a useful backlog that can easily be searched.
Keep up the good work and I hope that you consider this!
Could you do a video about the submarine internet cables, how they work and who installs them?
Waiting for the iPad Max. Er, the MaxiPad.
Still can't get used to the moustache lol
Still better than g-sync certification levels.
Xbox: A naming complexity contest? Hold my beer...
The original name, "Xbox" has a meaning. The guy that thought it up was wise. He made his wife mad and was banished from the bedroom that night. As he sat at his desk playing PC games he thought, Man, wish I could play these on the couch, where I will sleep tonight. So he designed a console made to be played on the couch. How did he come up with the name? He combined all the elements. When it is game time but the wife put an X on her box. Go to the couch and play the console.
I am just kidding. Nobody at Microsoft is that smart. "X" stands for unknown because they weren't intelligent enough to give it a proper name. They still aren't so they just keep using more X's.
What's wrong with the XboxSeX?
To be fair, it's kinda convenient, just not self explanatory. They should just have gone with "Premium HDR" instead of "Premium Pro", if you ask me.
Or just kept Freesync 2 and named the higher one something like Freesync 2+
I'm still confused
Not sure I understand… If you have a high end graphics card (an RTX for example), does that mean you don't need Freesync or G-Sync? Even if you only have a 60Hz monitor, the graphics card will surely generate more than 60 fps..? Except in 4K maybe.
Bitdefender is still around 😯
1:46 It's LFC, not LFR
is it possible to run free sync and g-sync monitors from the same computer if you have an AMD and Nvidia graphics card in the same computer?
Will HDR make chicken murdering on Minecraft look better? Asking for a friend, another friend and another overtly curious friend hiding within!
I'm new to all this, but if I have a FreeSync Premium monitor(with the Extended, Basic and Off options on it), should I set it to Off and then activate the G-Sync on the Nvidia Panel? Or it's possible to use FreeSync Extented while the G-Sync is on?
(my monitor accepts G-Sync in the Nvidia Panel; the GPU is a RTX 2060.)
Thank you!
finally an explanation video that doesn't suck. THANKS
You do NOT need AMD Graphics Card, NVidia added this to their drivers last year.
I want the old techquickies back: someone speaking fast with almost no jokes n stuff
no this is better
AMD offers superior performance and value in CPUs compared to Intel now. Has AMD beat Nvidia in the GPU arms race yet?
Not with those drivers
Maybe if they release their next lineup properly, and not silently launch one card at a time (and the top one last)
But if nvidia releases 7nm GPUs soon and aren't too greedy for dat cash (like usually) they'll probably "win"

Should have been Freesync, Freesync 1.5, and Freesync 2. Ez, AMD marketing hmu.
How about an episode about: "Video signals/connectors", what is the difference between VGA, DVI-I, DVI-D onward to DP and HDMI?
Hey guys this is Austin!

That USB-C shirt always looks to me like it's barfing out laser beams
Seeing you tearing up to demo the effect felt just like home 😅
So should i turn it on?
OK then what is the difference between Freesync Basic and Extended on LG monitors?
I think it's pretty obvious what AMD "means by that" .... they mean that Lisa Su is meticulously looking at EVERY pixel and sub pixel of every monitor with FreeSync Premium Pro 2.0 Alpha Deluxe panels... obviously
“Meticulous color and luminance certification” probably means that the display needs to be pre-calibrated to a known color space (like SRGB or Adobe RGB)
Pretty much every tech company are guilty of shitty naming scheme.
This is still a lot more sensible than most tech designations. I'm looking at you USB Forum and Intel.....
On Bitdefender:
I just want to mention that Bitdefender loves to eat your files without consent. In the past, it's deleted project files without asking and there is no option to turn such a feature off. Other than that though, it's a pretty decent antivirus though again, nothing beats a little common sense.
2:55 With the mustache this line really creeped me out.
So what happens when you play a 30 FPS Switch game on a free sync monitor that can’t downgrade lower than 40 fps? does it still copy the frames and make it 60 fps? 40 fps? or neither?
I cant figure out what HDR has to do with the tearing and adaptive refresh rate standard...
Why not just make a independent standard that can be a 2nd lil icon on packaging of monitors that support it.
I have seen tearing on HDR monitors in games that support HDR, its a whole different problem
I totally get how it needs to be built into the game tho, thats a no brainer
i've used bitdefender for years and it's awesome and worth the cost, it's on all of my pc;s laptops and phones i also recommend it to people i build pc's for

You can enable gsync with an nvidia card on a freesync monitor
I'm drunk watching this at 3 am. This could be vulcan as far as I can tell.
you don't need an AMD GPU to have freesync , it's supported by Nvidia now
0:09 Riley, we're looking at you....
If I don't have a HDR monitor, why do those pictures look different?
I don't think I would want a "true" HDR monitor as I feel like 1000 nits of brightness on a display sitting a foot or less in front of me would destroy my retina and melt my eyeballs. Though I guess I shouldn't knock it till I try it xD
How about a discussion on monitoring software, for testing purposes, and whats available and where to get them. Stuff to monitor different chip speeds, temps, things like that.
Stop using Bright Background
Looking at the difference between SDR and HDR on non-HDR monitor.
nVidia does the same with G Sync Compatible, G Sync and G Sync Ultimate !
Hey do ya think you could link to AMD's website with said games?
Do you even need Premium Pro for HDR? My monitor is a UW 1440p 160Hz Monitor capable of ~600 Nits but only rated for FS Premium and 90 of the time I just leave HDR on for the more vibrant colours and I've never noticed any sort of HDR problem
This is the first ive ever heard anyone use the term "Freesync 2 HDR"... that would've been fine actually. They changed it because there was no "HDR" in the name, so you had to look up what 2 did

Aah. Then let's go over G-Sync aswell.
*G-Sync* , which used to be a particular module, built in to the monitor, to make the monitor use adaptive sync with *only* Nvidia cards (Every monitor, titled "G-Sync", before Jan 2019). These use DP connection.
These are now called G-sync Premium.
*G-Sync Compatible* would *now* be something that doesn't have a physical module, but uses VESA Adaptive Sync/AMD Freesync, and is usable for DP or HDMI.
Some of these can only be used with the newer GPUs. G-Sync Compatible can also be a list of earlier Vesa Adaptive Sync/AMD Freesync models that Nvidia have gone over and approved for use, creating a "whitelist" for them opening up the ability to use technologies they previously locked for users of their GPUs.
*G-Sync HDR* Isn't the same as the compatible, but would go back to the earlier standars of using a physical G-Sync module in the monitor, and requires a GPU of GTX 1050 or newer. This one, ofcourse, is qualified for use with HDR.
*G-Sync Premium* Is the same thing they used to have (before Jan 2019), with a module in the monitor, only allowing Nvidia GPUs.
*G-Sync Ultimate* Is also only reserved for Nvidia GPUs, with a higher refresh rate and resolution(4K/144Hz or 3440x1440 /200Hz) They are also made for HDR and a brightness of 1000 nits.
Hope that cleared something up for someone.
except G-sync premium does not exist? There's only G-sync 1.0 (initial implementation), G-sync Ultimate (G-sync+HDR) & the new G-sync 2.0 (Allows AMD GPU's to make use of G-sync monitors). G-sync compatible is just Freesync and should be treated as such...
@@MLWJ1993 G-sync compatible should absolutely be treated as Freesync, as it is. It's just that Nvidia wants some credit for being so very kind to opening up the possibility to utilize this open standard.
G-Sync 2 should not be usable with AMD GPU's, as it's got a G-Sync module.
The only difference between G-Sync v1 and v2 is the connectivity, whereas you can see the HDR one as "V3", which is the same but with HDR compability.
@@ProfessorSlash G-sync 2.0 is still a Nvidia scaler that's inside the monitor though which means it's not Freesync, since Freesync scalers can be produced by anyone, be it good or bad ones. Freesync 2 at least has some standards that have to be met in order to brand it that way, but still YMMV depending on who made the monitor.
The only difference is that the "new" G-sync also works on HDMi ports & isn't disabled for AMD GPUs, does make me wonder if that means G-sync would also work over HDMi on Nvidia GPUs (although I do think DP is the more consistent option).
Next year; FreeSync Premium Pro Max - requirements being the display must cost at least 30 percent more and must not include any additional features
It's better to have a robot be the editor than the shooter, otherwise that's how you get terminators.
Isn't g sync now works on freesync monitors after Nvidia driver updates?
I appreciate 1:00.
Should I turn on AMD Freesync Premium Pro? If I turn it on should i use G-sync with it or not?
Your excused Riley.
So to use HDR and Adaptive Sync you need compatible games or? Can't I just use Freesync and enable HDR?
Hmm and here I am at 1920 x 1080 60hrz displays...
So if you need a display port. Freesync premium pro on Xbox Series X is just malarkey???
