Thanks for this! Hands down the most amazing place I've ever been to. I rented a $200+ per night cabin with a front row view of the Mittens... it had a kitchen with no pots pans dishes cutlery etc. So I ended up eating at the restaurant and spending a lot more. Still, a once-in-a-lifetime trip so I don't regret it! Bought some amazing artwork at their giftshop as well. Hoping to make it a twice in a lifetime trip from Canada!
Spectacular!!! We had our Chevy 3500 Dually. It was very tight and low. I was very careful. You have the most beautiful collection of images!! Thank You!
I've been lucky enough to visit many times since 1992 camping (Tent not RV) at the old site overlooking the mittens before that hotel spoilt the perfect view. Also several days on horseback with a Navajo guide sleeping under the stars, magical and so different from my home in Shropshire UK. Memories that last forever.
Stayed here in Oct. 2022. Stayed at the Goulding's Lodge for one night. It was very nice. Also visited Gooseneck's SP and Mexican Hat Rock for a short time. Did the 17 mile loop twice. Once in the morning and once late afternoon. Time well spent.
Thanks for the information. We will plan our trip accordingly. Not going until Sept 🙏 things may change. I see other places around the valley are open so is there enough to do in other areas for a couple days?
I hope it will be open by then too, I need a trip! There lots of things to do and see in the 4 corners. I have several videos on the 4 corners area including a couple on Monument Valley Side Trips and little monument valley- they and the others likely will help you plan what's best for you.
Stayed here for 2 days back in March. Wish I could have stayed longer. There is so much to see here. Goulding’s lodge is close enough to get great views but half the price of The View and you can get your own cabin. This place was amazing!
Tell me more. I’m planing a week long road trip and I want to go here. A hotel would be nice but camping in tent would be cool too. Trying to figure it all out now. I’m going in May
We were just here - Dec 2022. Stayed at Goulding’s Lodge. This area is quite remote, so lodging and dining options are limited. December weather was crisp but clear skies. We completed the loop to see all sights in Monument Valley in about 3 hours. The Navajo nation charges $8 per passenger - entry is allowed only till 3 pm. After that it becomes dusk and you will not be able to see the scenic beauty of this place clearly. Recommend that you get in around 11 am - 1 pm, so that you have enough time to leisurely drive around. The road is unpaved, but was not a problem in a minivan. Definitely worth a visit. The sense of scale is hard to capture on a camera. It is amazing to see these huge structures formed over millennia.
Thanks! You might also enjoy my 90 min version that covers much more in the greater Four Corners area including Utah’s nothional Parks. My Road Less Traveled series includes other places in NW New Mexico, like chaco Canyon and ShipRock
I've always had photography for a hobby, congratulations on those shots with the rainbow and son cutting across the top of the Rock. Totally awesome. I'd gone to goblin valley State Park. And it was solid overcast and really muddied up the lighting and killed the colors of the formations. I was so disappointed because I had driven a long way for disappointing photos but ended up glad that I had what I ended up with anyway. It is all in the lighting and having your camera with you no matter where you go because you never know when I get photo or materialize unexpectedly. 👍🏻
I waited for hours for that shot. Saw the weather was going to get interesting at the right time and just waited until it did. Weather knowledge is handy.
