thank you so much for this!!! ❤️!❤️!❤️!
What a great rag! This is the internet at it’s best - experiencing something genuinely new (to me) and loving the playing too. Really charming and well written, great balance but full of interest. Would love to see this piece growing in popularity from the effort you’ve made bringing it to RUclips! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This rag features what I call the Dominant rag, in that the V of the key signature is the first main chord of the rag's first strain. It's not unheard of, but it's kind of rare. A good example by Scott Joplin would be his Palm Leaf Rag.
Enjoyed...👍☺
Good first ragtime video
I love george botsford! he's my favourite authentic ragtime composer, well maybe after Joe Lamb. You really interpreted this piece amazingly!
I am always a little sorry that Ragtime seems to be associated mostly with Scott Joplin (although I like his music very much). But, as this lovely piece clearly indicates, there are quite a few other very talented Ragtime composers... Love this piece!
true!
William Bolcum also comes to mind
Also, according to the book "Ragtime A Musical And Cultural History" by Edward A. Berlin, there were actually more ragtime songs than instrumental pieces during the decade (1900 to 1910) when ragtime was most popular.
Great, you have a knack for Rag ❤️! My favorite all time is Solace by Scott Joplin. It has the sweetest slow mood and a lovely end. Quite some different and special rag.
A great surprise to see a rag upload but certainly a welcome one - lovely playing!
sounds like a minor imitator of Maple Leaf
Thanks for doing this piece. High quality interpretation.
Perfectly played. Ragtime should never being played fast
Unlike the person in California who criticized me for playing "Dill Pickle Rag" by Charles L. Johnson too slowly.
I think the tempo and the speed is good because people can dance to it. When it comes to playing for dancers, I am speaking from many years of experience.
Yay yay yay ✨✨✨✨🙏🙌🙌🙌
I love rags xoxoxo my favorites are American Beauty n Cottontail Rag by Joseph Lamb/and yes, Solace is sooo soothing too.
I have to learn this piece; thank you again for discovering lesser known composer in this genre too.
Rag alla Scott Joplin, piacevole, fa molto cinema muto
Lovely playing. This rag of Botsford’s reminds me of James Scott.
Yes! Especially his Maple leaf rag
Scott Joplin wrote "Maple Leaf Rag".
Amazing rag. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent
Look! My pooch is dancing!
Clearly by the same writer as Black and White Rag.
Scott Joplin or George Botsford ? Hmmm ! 🤔 ( Well, very similar.. )
🙏🤝🤠👏👍
This would be nice on the harp.
Excellent playing as always, though I find it a bit fast. Ragtime is a very relaxed genre. I'd go with something like 60-65 to the quarter note at most with this piece. It gives the left hand stride a little more room to breathe, a little daylight between the notes.
thanks for the feedback
dont agree at all. In fact it could be even a bit faster
thanks i also feel like it could be even faster, i felt it was at the lower end of the tempo indeed
@@PianoScoreVids exactly
@@PianoScoreVids Almost any ragtime can be played fast. The reason I choose slower tempi is because it allows one of its main features, i.e. syncopation, to stand out more easily from the beat.
Why all of this rags sounds so similar?
Because that is how Botsford composed his ragtime pieces.
